    Thanks, I've been screwing up snaps for years! Is there a trick to loosening a bit, or have I just been buying the cheap ones?

  • @sherylloyd1937
    @sherylloyd1937 12 днів тому

    If you have the pliers why do you need the little round tool

    • @makersleathersupply1220
      @makersleathersupply1220  12 днів тому

      @sherylloyd1937 the pliers won't set a snap that is in the middle of a large piece. Otherwise they work great.

  • @Gobra5
    @Gobra5 2 роки тому

    I didn't even realize this was a problem anyone has, I've set literally thousands of snaps, probably close to tens of thousands and I've never had this issue, and I use the cheapest snap setter I could find at the time lol, but hey, if it helps others then keep the tips coming!
    Maybe I'm just lucky and I've got the perfect size snap to the leather I'm using? I'd assume the post would move like that if your leather is too thin for the post size you're using?

  • @markscustomleather4081
    @markscustomleather4081 2 роки тому

    I can’t wait to give this a try. I’ve destroyed more snaps than I can count. I even bought snap pliers that was a waste of time. Thanks for the tip.
    Another question, I have been using thicker leather lately and was wondering where I could find heavy duty snaps with longer posts for the thicker leather. Any help would be appreciated.

  • @caseyhankins357
    @caseyhankins357 2 роки тому

    I bought the Barry kind like 24 snap setter and still have issues. I’m going to give this a try. Are you not supposed to use the little cupped out anvil for the round side of the snaps?

    • @makersleathersupply1220
      @makersleathersupply1220  2 роки тому

      I've always had more problems with those because they're not cupped at the same angle and shape as the snsp
