Could be too early to say, but this might be my favorite "Zangief vs. shoto" matchup. With Gief's big damage to health and drive gauge, Akuma really has to focus on not getting hit.
Yeah and that's not easy in this game .. idk I don't think akuma will be top tier , health just matters too much in this game
Against Zangief and Marisa, Akuma REALLY feels fragile and I love it
My GAWD!!! Akuma just *melts* under Gief's damage. I'm sure that as Akuma players evolve, the matchup will shift into Akuma's favor, but Yeezus! I feel like Gief could 2-touch Akuma by accident... Probably Marissa too if we're being honest.
i want to see this same fight,, in like a month or two,,, Pro or not i have to admit it is way to early to fully master Akuma´s being tokido, Daigo or whateaver,,if you CANT USE IT AT 100%, and start making openings and combos that deals 50%+ damage,, (considering you have the assets for it ),,it wont work ,, Akuma have the potential to do insane combo damage,, but also is a glass cannon and take a TON OF DAMAGE,, the key is using it good enough like for to block parry or dodge opponents attacks while you deal that Akuma damage, as much as you can

It only works against Gief. Nothing much to steal.
pretty much how i thought this matchup would be. zangief with his anti projectile answers and even level 1 covers demon raid- only thing akuma got on zangief are better pokes

Maybe Akuma isn't that great in this iteration. With parry/DR he isn't as privileged.
Weak normals, powderpuff hp. He kinda loses to Zangief? This isn't a new character and these aren't bad players, grapplers still aren't good in streetfighter.

Damage is high in SF6, some would say too high.
Akuma having 9k is a much more serious drawback in a game where half of the cast can two touch him.
I saw a match between 801 Strider and Punk where Akuma died in two hits and Marisa only had to spend lv1 super.
He elbowed the shit out of his Akuma

Yeah he 3-0’d tokido who hasn’t even mastered a new character yet. Still kinda impressive, but in a month or two this match will be a lot different.

@nam18x Buffs that don't solve any fundamental issue. He now deals slightly more damage and drive damage is about all he got.
Great to see Itazan finally playing with a decent character. His creativity can shine.

Tokido and Naooon are champion akuma mains in SFV. Its obvious just needs more practice.

@@Shaera574i feel like his time has passed , he's still good and can hang with the top players but he's not one of THE best players anymore .. he's almost 40 so no shame , i just don't think he will be able to get any traction.. he's slowly but surely converting to content creation and streaming so he's not going anywhere

@@bobbobertson3285 ken wasn't figured out at that point , like i said he can still hang with pros and give them a run for their money , he's just not the best player anymore . Ryukichi for example , one of tokidos disciples is clearly a stronger ken than him despite being like 18 years old or so

Did you see how he was moving before the crMK? He had part of the first circle done and churned during the dr freeze. Don’t get me wrong, it is still an impressive and difficult reaction, but it is not unheard of.

A pro player playing a new character that just released vs a pro player playing his buffed main since about a year. Of course Itazan has the edge here.
They nerfed akumas health way too much in this one. I know he's always been the glass cannon of sf but, %60 from a raw spd is ridiculous and his damage to zangief is nothing like, what can akuma do in this matchup in sf6?

Capcom made a big mistake to only give Akuma 9000 HP.
Suffocate Gief up close because Gief has bad defensive options outside universal and beat him in neutral. Also Unlike V Akuma haa a true fireball again
Zangief's damage needs to be adjusted. He's too broken. Hardly puts in much effort to win.
