So finished the main campaign, and the extra bonus chapter with the hard boss. I just have one boss left the superboss black rabite which is kicking me in. Once that is finished I will upload a full game video. Enjoy!

I've seen my share of bittersweet endings. I wish there was a happy ending for once, myself, closest one we got is Trials of Mana where all of the main heroes live, and Charlotte doesn't lose her love interest, it was sad that in Secret of Mana, Primm loses Dyluck for good all because her father didn't want her dating a mere soldier. And here, Val loses Hinna and either doesn't think to revive her with the Mana Sword's power or he just can't.
But what am I talking about? That's like asking why, in SOM, Primm didn't think to use a Cup of Lifenoodles or Dryard's power to resurrect Dyluck after Thanatos/The Dark Lich is vanquished. Healing items and spells just simply tend to not work on dead people in cutscenes. At least Hinna and Val get a bit of a happier ending than Primm and Dyluck.

Everyone keeps saying this isn't a happy ending, but it pretty much is.
    Bittersweet in context? Sure.
But their world is saved, Val stops Daelophos and uses the Mana Sword to stop the curse that needed the alms.
Sure it took his whole life but it was a fulfilled life, but he is reunited with Hinna in death now and forever.
Throughout the game, the lax attitude of people about just tossing chosen ones as sacrifices AND the Distorted run to the final boss shows that they are proud to be chosen to be alms and know the responsibility of this but are happy to do so because people are just returning to the cycle of mana while knowing they maintained the peace of the world and watches over everyone, the mana afterlife seems pretty much like the lifestream in FF7.

Man I wish we could get a true happy ending in one of the Mana games. They are always bittersweet, the bad guys are beaten but either the hero's are separated or the world loses mana anyway

When one of the kids said “Grandfather Val.” On the day that he died, did Val married someone else and his kids started their own families, or did Val adopt some kids who were orphaned after the events of this game and they started their own families?

@@seangrant3617 I know Val wouldn’t forget his love for Hinna by marrying someone else. But he can still be a parent without marrying someone else and still raise some kids of his owns. Or maybe Val became village elder of the tribe and still did the whole adoption thing.

This is why I can never stomach the Mana series because in every single game there is no happy ending I don't care if they met again in the afterlife she died in her Prime and he had to live an entire life before he got to see her again there must be enough fans out there that hate these Little Mermaid like endings (I refer to the Anderson fairy tail sad ending not the Disney one) to keep the series going because it always breaks my heart to see the MC and the girl he loves always ripped apart .....it's why I liked the Tales of Arise ending so dam much because we finally got another happy ending in one since Tales of Destiny I think

Thoughts on the game, particularly the bosses?

    • @Rubhen925
      @Rubhen925  12 днів тому +5

most of the bosses look cool and all, but with Morley's nightblade class you can cheese them with the moon class ability which freezes time. Even without that the early bosses are pretty simple whereas the later bosses have a ton of health. Case in point this fight. I have insane crit damage and rate potential and yet the fight took so long lol. Though each boss did look unique and themed well. In terms of the game, combat can be wonky especially the targeting. Half the time you're fighting the targeting and camera instead of the enemies which upset me and took me away from the experience.

Yea ngl most of the game is simple jrpg mechanics and story. I'm ok with simplistic design choices. But come on camera and targeting is important. Even in this fight. I'm trying to target the damn middle core of the body and thr game keep switching between the arms and legs......

Just reached the final boss earlier today.
Genuinely such a misserable experience. Just take Urizen from DMC5, bloat up his HP to an unreasonable degree, and stick him against AI party members that dont know how to dodge and die in 2 hits even with the best gear. That sounds like fun.
Hopefully i'll beat him tomorrow before work, but...Jesus Christ, what were they thinking???
Just targetting the right bloody part of the boss is a challenge in itself.
    *sigh*
Rant over. I want to like this game, but moments like this drag it down so so much...
And now the studio has shut down, you know they can never fix it or try again.
    EDIT:
Managed to beat the boss. Glad its finally over. Props to anyone who can be bothered to beat it on hard mode.
Switched out my Morley for Careena. Her buffs and debuffs were a borderline godsend considering the sponginess of the boss. Palamena on full healing/nuking duty, with time slow to hold the boss in place. Val for elemental buffs (mostly wood for mp regen) and using light to link the bosses limbs for bonus damage.

There's a wood spell called burst that can be doublecast with at least two items in the game. It deletes about 15% of the boss health every 4 seconds in hard mode and I somehow found it before the Benelovons. Try getting it and I promise it's going to make the game a blast.

@@koheikyouji The damage alone is good, but what makes it the best is that it's fast and has a small hit box unlike ancient curse. Try it out in Daelophos with any of the double cast spells (there's one for wood spells and one for all spells) and it melts his health in under a minute.

@@alexisguillen8400 Well, I beat Daelophos last night and dont really feel like redoing it, but the spell was definitely useful in the postgame
Managed to beat the dragon boss, but the Black Rabite...is a bit much. I'm only lvl71 rather than 80+, so I might have to consider turning down the difficulty for him (or just grind, I suppose)
Ancient curse is really disappointing unfortunately, to the point I usually stick with doublecasting doppelganger. Its a pity that spell doesnt do all 8 times of damage 1 after another, rather than just being non-elemental
Thinking about it, its probably easier if I just run through NG+ at some point. Then id be able to max out the skilltrees and unlock all the passives for a perfect build
No sense in doing that once the superboss is already dead afterall :/

The happy in the next life is a huge lie in that universe, as it never stops asking for people you love to be sacrificed, such a world is actually hell, the people that struggle the most for it's continuity loose the most and can never be happy.

      @@Tigerhearty Val cancelled that though.
The sacrifices were there because the Mana Goddess slumbered and Daelophos' rage cursed the lands so it needed backup fuels to power up the world while she was on sleep mode.
It's specifically why after beating Daelophos, the Goddess and Khoda tells Val that now that he has the sword of mana he can make MASSIVE changes to their world and so he does. The credits show that they all return back to their homes and live out their lives.
