  • Dr. Friedrich Glasl, father of modern conflict theory, explains why even after 100 years of trying to outlaw and study international relations we still end in inter-state conflicts that spiral into all-out warfare.
Dr. Glasl was born in Vienna, in 1941. He dedicated his academic work to researching conflicts and organisational systems getting his PhD in international conflict prevention in 1967. Later he ventured into the field of economics and management theory, building up his own management consultancy in which he applied his theory to improve companies and help them manage conflicts.
One of the keys to his work is understanding that conflicts themselves are not bad, but that they need to be managed and resolved responsibly instead of through strategies of violence.

Very precious channel. Keep it up, even if subscribers are not humongous. My suggestion to lower conflict: quarantine the neocons.

Glasl is right that we are in a more difficult and dangerous situation than in the cold war with more players and new large scale structures like BRICS - NATO. The tensions USA-USSR during the cold war had a simpler structure. Now there are multi-nation conglomerates that start climbing the conflict escalation ladder.

9:44: 📚 Conflict resolution theories and understanding have evolved significantly over time, with the development of a methodological approach and the identification of implicit thresholds in decision-making.
16:25: 🌍 The hypothesis of hegemonic dynamics suggests that nations strive to be the most powerful, leading to competition and potential for war.
19:07: ⚠ The current power dynamics among countries like China, Russia, and South Africa pose a great danger to international cooperation and peace.

Pascal dear, was too much background chat and not enough to the point here :(
But anyway, on this subject matter: You will do best to study & interview John Mearsheimer (Chicago/USA) He will most eloquently & sharply explain this conflict theory & its relevance today. Cheers :) Jay

well he is just being russophobic, nothing strange here. Son of the Hitler´s soldier who felt "the Russian occupied" part of Germany was violent, He is not someone to care about, I don´t know, historical truth?
