I feel the same way Jerry. I was born at Emanuel Hosp and raised and lived in southeast Portland for 24 years until I got married and moved to Oak Grove. Now I’ve lived in Astoria for almost 20 years and love it. Portland has become something I couldn’t live in any longer. I loved growing up there, but its thoroughly lost its charm for me. I know places need to change, but Ptld sure hasn’t done it with grace!

A lovely documentary of several well known waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. This video taken in September 2015 shows the falls at their lowest flow of the year. They are much more impressive earlier in the season after the spring rains and before the summer drought. This was also taken before the Eagle Creek fire devastated much of this area in 2017. As of today, all falls in this video after Multnomah are closed because of the unstable ground caused by the fire. But all the falls in the western gorge remain open, and are still beautiful. Other wonderful waterfall areas in the region are Silver Creek Falls State Park west of Salem, and the Lewis River Falls north of Portland.

It depends not only on the country but on the area too. If you get out in the wilderness more freedom you have (I do not mean the area in this video). UK is quite populated, maybe this is the reason?

Kudos for hiking into these falls! Some might hike into 'Bridalveil', but most only see the surface of this 'jewel' from a walk to the edge of the parking lots.
As a photographer living in Troutdale, I've spent the last 37 years seeing them during all seasons. My favorite time of year is anything except summer. So darn many people, they actually require a 'permit' to drive through the old Columbia River highway now!
_If you come? A couple words of advice. Car breaks are not uncommon. Also? The trails through this mountainous area have cougars in them. Yes, they're rare. But I've actually seen one. Always be ready, because cougars are known to sit above and attack after you pass. I always wear my backpack high to cover my neck, and ALWAYS have a large knife handy. (you ARE allowed to 'open carry' here as well)_

Richie Bustamante No, it is very easy, just search in Google Maps Multnomah falls abd get the directions from the airport, then enlarge the map and look along the same road (not the highway) and you will see other waterfalls marked, you can search also by the names listed in the description of my video. Some require short hiking, it is up to you to calculate how many you can see in between your two flights. Probably the best is to rent a car from the airport for 4-5 hours

I want to see the creeks just above what appears to be the top of the waterfalls at 1:00 and 4:30 to get a visual sense of how all this connects with the Columbia River. I want to hear the woodpecker at 0:40 and everywhere the leaves rustling in the wind and the water falling. The photography is superb and the music well-chosen. Recording the natural sound, I suppose, would have been more difficult. And of course, even with that extra dimension, it still wouldn't be the same as being there. Thanks for a beautiful and well-crafted video! How long do we have before this is all ocean and desert? Not saying that's inevitable, but at the rate we're going, it seems likely. Thanks again.

These places are a glimpse of heaven and also very risky to roam around. So security measure must be taken while in these place. Hope to see this channel active decades after decades.

Not sure why you think security is needed. Stay on the trail and you'll be fine.
