I live in Phoenix Arizona so we play in extreme heat four months or more every year. Your tips are great for those who are not used to playing in the heat. Another tip is to be sure to eat before you play your round. Also bring a cold apple or two for your round. This helps keep you hydrated and give you a little energy. Don’t be ashamed to stop playing if you feel like you are getting overheated. Stop before you get there!

Here in Australia in our summer,
    Use a buggy
1/2 to 3/4 freeze water bottles, then top up with normal water when you get to the course.
After you have applied subscreen, I get the sand from my sand bucket and rub my hands together, it makes them less slippery...

Here’s what I also carry in my bag:
    Extra NEW gloves.
An extra pair of dry socks & 1 pair of dry underwear).
A cool wrap (to put around my neck).
    Wash cloth.
    Sun screen.
    Bug spray.
    Lip balm.
L-Lysine tablets (if you’re prone to fever blisters).
Large Ziplock baggie (for wet socks & underwear).
And an AR15 rifle with 30-round mag (not really, just seeing if you read this far).

My buddy & I like to play in the extreme heat as usually, we have the whole course to ourselves 👍 Talking over 100+ /37C here in Kansas and when the wind blows its like playing in a blast furnace, the heat doesn't bother me , but I can not stand the cold , once it gets to 58* / 14C or lower my ass stays inside !!!!

After playing in Dubai for a few years, no 1 is drink plenty of water to rehydrate yourself even if you feel you are ok.
Next is a good hat. The baseball type caps are useless. Get one with a big brim. Wear the light coloured, good quality purpose made golf clothing as it lets your body breath. The normal M&S type polo's are much to thick.
Don't over do it. If you feel you are getting tired, stop! I once tried carrying on and after 13 holes could not even lift a club. Totally dehydrated.
Last but not least, try and play in the morning so you complete before midday. Mad dogs an Englishman and all that.

Having lived in Abu Dhabi and played every summer in 50C. Some thoughts, never walk, always take a buggy. Drink 1/2 Ltr water a hole, wet your hat every other hole (it acts like a refrigerator), plenty of sun screen (at least factor 50). Take plenty of gloves and change them every couple of holes.

During the week I play after work so I usually tee off around 3:00-3:30pm. Once maybe twice a week. In AZ you can get killer deals during that time because everyone is waiting for the later tee times. I bring a cooler that fits about 6 cans and some ice in my bag and bring a wet towel to but around your neck to help with the heat. I do use a cart. I only walk my par 3 courses. great video.

I was a member at Doha Golf Club in Qatar. In summer it can push 50 degrees. To even consider it you need to have a buggy, an ice bucket, loads of Pocari Sweat to replace the things you lose when sweating, and a screw loose. I got heatstroke multiple times... worth it though 😄

I live in Dubai where the temp is around 50c in the peak of summer. Best advice I could give is play early before the heat sets in and use a golf cart, you can carry more water and you’re shaded by the canopy between shots

I live in Abu Dhabi and we play golf in 40-45 degrees Cent in the summer - start at 06:00 (nice and cool - 30c) but the last 2 hours well over 40 degrees. No 1 - use a golf cart do not walk. No2 - sit in the shade at every opportunity. No3 control your heat rate - my average rate was 135 and peaked 160. for 4.5 hours of the round - stopping in the shade to drop the heart rate below 120 helped a lot. Biggest lesson - do not play 2 days running - the heat wipes you out - it does not matter how much water you drink.

I live in Brisbane and we play at 6.30am year round. In summer it’s high 20’s and high humidity at tee off time and clothes are wringing wet when finished. But better than cold and rain I was used to in the northwest UK before we emigrated. And we use a trolley always.

I live in Louisiana where golf for us is normally in 90-100* heat with 90% humidity. Lots of sunscreen (dont forget the back of your neck), leave the beer till after the round, if you are not riding use a push cart with an umbrella attached (portable shade), get electrolyte tabs or powders like nuun or skratch, and fruits like apples or oranges are refreshing and will help cool you down from the inside

Great video. Just remember that if you are playing in the heat and you don't feel well 1..tell someone 2..get off the course. Your mates will probably call it quits with you and you can all go get a beer and cool down together. From someone that knows from Australia.

I love hot sunny days with golf, but it's the humidity that gets me. I can do 100° all day with not much issue, but you start playing in 90° with 40% humidity and you are sweating before you tee off the first hole. I live in Indiana and summers are all about humidity. I love Arizona heat compared to this at times. But bring as much water as you can, because heat is heat more matter what type it is

    1) sunscreen will grease up your grips and just but your eyes, prevent you from going low... forget bout it
    2) hydrate.... beer girl is always there, so use a 2:1 ratio. For every 2 shots make sure your responsible and follow up it up with a beer. If u happen not to “go low”, blacking out and not remembering the round could be beneficial
    3) remove the governor on the golf cart, faster you go the cooler you will be.

I play often in the summer in Palm Springs, Phoenix and Tucson, AZ and it does get hot! First rule is to take a golf cart. Greens fees are usually heavily discounted for us few idiots who insist on playing on the hottest days of the year. Also, play really early in the day. Late afternoon is not a good idea in the desert as it’s had the chance to heat up all day. It could still be 110F at sundown. Stay away from alcohol the night before or imbibe very lightly. Drink more water than you think you need. In an 18 hole round I try to drink 3 liters minimum. Sunblock is greasy. Invest in some of those wetnap napkins to help keep your hands from getting too slippery with sunblock. Limit the time you look for a lost ball to a minute or two. Last thing you need is to be scraping around the desert for hours looking for your 50 cent Pinnacle. Take every opportunity to hit some shade. If in a cart park in the shade and if walking plan the shadiest walking route. Lastly if you feel dizzy, cold, clammy, etc. STOP playing and head on in. I played 18 holes in Goodyear, AZ in 122F temp and actually attempted 36! I got through 27 and called it quits thank God!

you should consider putting on some long sleeve shirts that are baggie and thin. this when you start to sweat and the wind blows it will be like an air conditioner. if you are in an area with high humidity make sure that you are drinking lots of water. Sports drinks are ok but water should be your chief source of hydration. this is what we do every weekend here in Texas where I live. the 100's degrees or 40+ celsius is not a joke to play around with. stay safe and have fun.

Try liquid chalk on your hands too. Sunscreen can leave your hands greasy. Liquid chalk sorts the grease and sweat nicely. I was also recommended by a doctor that don't drink just water, if you do then add hydralytes to it at least. It may sound obvious but I believe that any liquid intake should be cold, drinking tepid water on a 45deg c + day (pushing 50deg) in the middle east has little affect keeping you cool. Lastly, use a buggy, there's no medals for walking a course in the heat.

Have played golf in extreme conditions, that said best to use a cart with a cooler full of water (alcohol optional but not recommended) playing in extreme heat. While playing during the winter wear layers of clothing and gloves and keep your feet warm. The coldest weather we played in was below zero (Fahrenheit) -15 degrees. The course had some snow and ice making every shot an adventure. That day was so bad that the owner said we were crazy and said we could play for free!! Nobody else showed up. This happened during the 80’s and in New Hampshire, USA at Green Meadow golf course in Hudson. I am the last person in that foursome that still plays golf. Two are in their 80’s and one died.

Definitely would not be walking , at least not carrying a golf bag regardless of how light it is, im sure most golf courses have handcarts to put your bags on if youre still in the walking mood. Also, i found out if you take a handkerchief or some type of lightweight towel and get it wet, put it under your hat on your neck to help cool your body core down. I live in S. Texas so summers here can be brutal with the heat/humidity levels. Also, a nice breeze helps a little also.

Carrying? Buggy when it’s going to be hot & slow. Also, rain gloves, swear by them all year round.

The no soft drink but then have a sports drink advice is a bit wacko other than hot fizzy drinks taste a bit off. Both are just bulk sugar.... pushing the clubs to get them off your back is something to consider, or thinking about using a cart.

Course is locally as deserted springs, not golfer friendly only interested in selling the houses, and the maintenance fees they charge. Come and play with us at Alboran any Tuesday or Friday.

Seeing as the heat index in Florida is over 105 every single day, just get over it.

Plenty water Umbrella sunscreen shades I find I’m more nimble in the sun as muscles warm up is easier it’s harder to concentrate in the heat and ball seems to go further other than that find a course that have trees along each side of the fairway

yesterday i played 36 holes in 48 degrees. Couldnt even grip a club due to the extreme humidity.

I actually play better golf in extreme heat.
Biggest tip for me is to hose your head down w water every few holes. Yup, just save the last few sips over water, take off hat and pour the water over your head. Completely Cools you down for at least a hole or two. Alternatively, every time you walk past a restroom, throw a bunch of water on your head and face.
    Works great for me.

"Sun cream" or sunblock is not good for you. I wear long sleeve golf shirts like those you can get from SanSoleil or others, thin very light weight breathable pants and a golf hat with a wide brim. Works like a champ. No sunscreen in my eyes or on my grips. I also prefer black or blue shirts and hats. Believe it or not, darker colors actually block more UV rays. They stop at the surface rather than passing through. Cotton is useless, hardly any UPF.
