    Okay..... I"m 64. I've been an allergy/asthma sufferer my whole life and late onset made me allergic to my dogs, mold and many tree pollens. Mid April through mid May have been torture for me for the last 10 years. I started taking nmn (1GR) most days about 10 months ago. DNA brand THEPULSE used. About 10 days ago I realized that my spring allergies weren't starting. 3 days ago I rode my bicycle 25 miles and had no symptoms. At that point I remembered you talking about your allergies going away and the lightbulb came on. NMN for the W!~!!! Today, allergy prime time, I have NO scratchy throat/sinuses/respiratory system discomfort. Slightly itchy eyes are my only symptoms!!! Trees are finishing up with their reproductive cycles and I'm just as pleased as I can be about it!!!! Still waiting for the anvil to fall on my head, but each day that goes by makes that less and less of a concern.

    I know for a fact it does something. I was in the hospital with covid pneumonia and almost died. 2 years after having covid, i was still super weak and physically tired. Nothing fixed that problem. I started taking NMN and NAC and felt normal again after a couple weeks. I even started going to the gym again.

    So I have commented before saying that most benefits you describe is just a factor of regular exercise and healthy eating, since I experienced it myself without taking NMN... Well I finally started taking NMN today. 1gram disolved in my mouth in the morning, fasted. Wow.. I must repent. There is a huge difference. Its like superhero mode. Across all matrix. My job is very intellectually demanding.. havent done this much or was able to multi-task like this in my life. After long day at work, instead of being exaused and mentally drained, felt 100% and went to the gym. 1 hour on the treadmill felt 20% easier and than did sled push/pulls for about 30min. I'm trully excited. My only concern right now is that its a short term effect and my body will adopt so I wont get the benefit after few days.

    i am glad you asked whether NMN "cures" a disease such as asthma or arthritis. becoming asymptomatic is what most drugs try to do & what most patients hope for. but dr's are taught that all drugs have side effects & these are not cures. NMN may help one to become asymptomatic by repairing damage. as mentioned in Sinclair's book, there is also hope in the future that this repair may also lead to a cure. this may mean taking NMN for a longer period of time, who knows, or it may mean that there will be discoveries that will help us get to a point of complete reversal by repairing our damaged DNA.

    What is the value of NMN supplementation when it is known that NMN cannot directly enter the cell, but is instead converted to NR that enters the cell, that is then converted back to NMN? What benefit does NMN therefore provide that we can’t get from NR or vitamin B3/niacin supplementation?

    • @germanicelt
      @germanicelt Рік тому

      I've not yet tried NMN, and I probably will, but I've been thinking lately that I'd like to try NR and Niacin together, and see how it compares to NMN.

    • @mjoh090
      @mjoh090 Рік тому +1

      @@germanicelt I jumped on the NMN band wagon before I fully understood the science. I have about a 1 year’s supply of high grade NMN that I bought from a lab in Germany. I also have NR. Knowing what I know now, I would not have purchased either. In my view, NMN is a complete waste of money. It has been established that NMN does not enter the cell. Instead, NMN is broken down into NR which does enter the cell that reforms into NMN. It makes better sense to supplement with NR, but in my view, NR is probably no better than niacin/vitamin B3, which like NR, is a precursor molecule for the production of NAD+. There is however an industry that has formed around NMN and NR that relies on a narrative to support it. There are influencers that have an economic incentive to perpetuate the narrative, and will block/ban any one that hi-lights the science that contradicts the narrative. I recommend that you do some research on Dr. David Sinclair, who is most responsible for popularising NMN. He is a fantastic story teller, but poke around the edges and you will soon see that all is not quite what it seems.

    For allergies, in addition, look into increasing butyrate-producing gut bacterial species. They affect the Treg cell counts. This is the cure (takes time, coz immune memory could be deeply implicated, depending on the type of immune problem). So, increace the fiber (slowly) in food, and avoid big amounts of fats and protein, refined foods, but carbs are good as long as complex forms.

    Please explain this to me. It seems like a very generic response to my request to keep NMN as an available supplement...
    "Thank you for writing to express your support of natural medicines and therapies as treatments for Americans.
    Dietary supplements are largely defined as any product taken by mouth that contains a "dietary ingredient" intended to supplement the diet. Dietary ingredients in these products may include: vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, glandulars, metabolites, extracts, or concentrates. Unlike drugs, supplements are not intended to treat, diagnose, prevent, or cure diseases and it is illegal for supplement manufacturers to make such claims. In 1994, I supported the passage of the original Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, which established the Food and Drug Administration's oversight of natural supplements and was signed into law on October 25, 1994. Since then, I continue to support legislation that ensures access to safe supplements and promotes healthy living.
    Again, thank you for contacting me. Please keep in touch with your thoughts and opinions.
