The fact that this song came out 3 years ago and yes they are different, but they are just as good as they were 40+ years ago, brings tears of happiness to my eyes for them. Thank you ABBA!
What a gift to all their fans after 40 yrs, a new album and concert experience, VOYAGE. Watching the world premier of this video half way through I unexpectedly burst into sobbing tears of joy.....simply amazing !
Amazing Frida❤'s voice on this song (from 2018). Frida turned 79 beautiful years last November 15 (2024)... Agnetha, for her part, will turn 75 beautiful years old on April 5 (2025). Benny turned 78 on December 16th. Björn, the oldest of them, will turn 80 on April 25. Long life to 🅰️🅱️🅱️🅰️! Take care, Dan ✌️ Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗👍
Dan, I can't thank you enough for reacting to this for me! I know you've only recently begun your ABBA journey, but I had every faith that you'd tune into the emotional resonance of this song. Imagine this: you're a teenager in the 1990s but ABBA broke up in 1982, before you were born. You love their songs but you NEVER got to be alive when they were together. It's the biggest regret of your life, but something you long since let go of. ABBA is still as current as ever but you'll NEVER get to experience new songs from them. UNTIL THIS. All of a sudden, in 2021, they announce a new album (Voyage), and this is the first song released from it. This was me. I cried like a child. The child that thought he'd NEVER get to be alive for a new ABBA song. This is such a respectful reaction. You rightly recognise all the nostalgia in the video, and maturity in the voices. I do disagree about the level of melancholy: I think this song has the same bittersweet quality as all their earlier hits. BUT, I loved this reaction and I still don't understand how you don't have more subs. Thanks again 😘
Such a lovely comment Slash! I added it as a pinned comment since you made this reaction possible! I look forward to growing this channel more, and hope you stick along, but regardless, thanks for watching and recommending this awesome song 😁
You really should do ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’. It’s ABBA as they were, but 40 years later. It’s actually magical! That’s the real love letter to fans. At first listen it’s a simple love song, but when you study the lyrics, it’s really for us.
@@DanCanReact Yes on one hand someone can have the perception it's about a love affair being re-warmed.But it's actually an emotional and disarming loving letter to us fans who had missed them so desperately and them asking us to accept them the way they are now.And Of course we did.And most of us wholeheartedly. That was about right after the covid lockdown and kinda felt like rain after nearly a half a century of drought.A real consolation.
Yeah! ABBA has done what I have asked for years. Just a song for us and ABBA did it. No surprise as these four Swedes have a universe of kindness and respect to all of their fans around the entire world.
This album was so lyrically advanced and remarkable. A reflection on their lives, careers, relationships, achievements, and emotions. There's a sadness in how it's a musical goodbye by septuagenarians who know they don't have much time left, but in time, it will make Voyage the most remarkable farewell album by any artist ever.
great song and reaction. Benny and Bjorn still know how to write a song! and the voices are fantastic still especially Frida. remember they are in their 70s now. yes the footage at the end was from the voyage concert in London and were their avatars aka abbatars. they built a special arena for the show. it has been sold out nightly for 3 years now. tickets are hard to get but so worth it. the abbatars would not work with Elvis or the carpenters because they are no longer with us. these are special. Benny said don't call them holigrams!!! the 4 spent months in special motion capturing suits with 160 cameras to get every movement, even their blinks. the movements are really theirs. that's why they are so life like and you swear you could touch them. you can't do this unless you have the live person. they have tried with Elvis and Whitney Houston and it was terrible. you could see right thought the avatars.
I guess if that's how they work, they could potentially work closely with impersonators to record the movements, but it wouldn't be completely authentic. That's really interesting though, I didn't know about the process!
This song captures the story of Abba. From childhood, through the early days; the madness of Abba mania (in Australia they were HUGE - a lot of the footage is from Abba the Movie and the concerts there), and the years after. They have been together for close to 60 years - that's a lot of history. The younger versions are the "ABBAtars" from Abba Voyage - the Experience , which is currently in London. For us die hard fans this video encapsulates the entirety of our lifelong love of this group. I tear up every time I hear it, it's magical. They have lost none of what makes them so special. I saw them in concert twice in 1977, and this takes me right back to the Perth Entertainment Centre as I watched them live.
This song is about them, their friendship and working relationship. Don't Shut Me Down is Abba asking their fans to accept them in their new form as ABBATARS.
Recorded in 2017 together with the uptempo "Don't shut me down".Premiered via livestreaming Sept.'21 in front of some ecstatic million Abba fans all over the globe who many got tears of joy..That was an unbelievable, very emotional teary moment. And was their first material they did in the studio consciously as ABBA- the 4some Swedish pop band since August 1982 with 'The Day before You came" that was the band's final recording for nearly 4 decades. Then in Nov.'21 followed the "Voyage" album that blasted to no1 almost everywhere and then it was on May'22 that the VOYAGE gigs kicked off in London and still go strong with over 2 million tickets sold and continiously extented residency. That was a super expensive glorious expirement that fortunately succeded and pioneered in culture and entertainement fields.
Since you asked about the video. A lot of stuff featured here is unseen footage and bits and pieces from their filmed archive that saw the daylight for the 1st time in 2021.A nostalgic beatiful surprise for us.IMO, ABBA wouldn't reunite for "a last encore" if it wasn't for their fan's solid loyal affection all those years ago from 1982 till 2017 cause almost each member thought it was too late and the doors were already shut to their story since decades ago.The love of their fans, Erasure's Abba-esque no1 record, the success of "Mamma Mia" musical and films that followed ,the multiple Abba-tribute bands etc, kept the ground warm.Yet they kinda started to change their minds and the unbelievable happened and the response was fabulous..
Like so many others I'm easily brought to tears by this, and its not just about the music, the Voyage slbum was a gift to fans like few other artists have ever had the fortune to be able to deliver, and it was received with love. Being an ABBA fan hasn't always been easy you see, they weren't fully appreciated at the time, and went through a lengthy 'uncool' period before getting the acclaim they so obviously deserve. You'll enjoy Don't Shut Me Down.
ABBA's split in very early '83 was unofficial and kind of unintentional but gradually took place in between them and that resulted a hiatus of nearly 40 years. These 2 new songs "FAITH"(a Disney-sh beautiful ballad) and "DON'T SHUT ME DOWN" (a familiar uptempo classic Abba gem),were recorded and remained a top-secret by all 4.Even the studio crew who had attented the recording progress wouldn't tell anyone until a year later on that there was an official anouncement through their official site and caused a happy shock to us fans.Their co-existence in the studio was fantastic. "it was as if time stood still and we had come back from short holidays" they kinda stated in Abba's official site. ."We may have come of age but the songs are new and feel good/We don't have to prove anything/we don't care about the money/it was such fun/an extremely joyful experience" were some of their words back in 2018.After neverending delays both songs finally premiered making many of us tearfully happy and grateful. The crying fans reactions captured the band's attention and really moved them. When Frida was asked about it she replied "Oh i cried too". And i also did btw, lol.My eyes were burning for days.Unforgettable moments.
You must have all been filled with overwhelming emotion when their new music was released... I know I would feel the same, had I been a fan back then 🥰 It's awesome that they did that!
@@DanCanReact ...I was owerhelming too and having feelings of pure joy in 2,3 Month after they played it for first time 🎉😂🎉😂🎉😂🎉😂🎉😂 PLEASE, do ODE TO FREEDOM,too🎶❣️🎶❣️🎶❣️🎶❣️🎶❣️ Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
I can't watch it without having chills and tears in my eyes. That's why I avoid watching it. I hate crying. With ABBA we can never go wrong. This video is really, really deep and true. Great reaction. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Most of the footage is from music videos, ABBA The Movie, ABBA in Concert and footage that ended up on the cutting floor. The animated stuff is from the ABBA Voyage digital concert in London, which is AMAZING. I'm pretty sure it's coming to the US in the next few years so if you get the chance to see it, you should. It works, the fact that the 4 of them were alive and could do the motion capture for it helps a lot. This album, and this song in particular, 40 years after their last album, hits so hard for me. The album is amazing imo. I was worried about them doing it just because I didn't want them to finally come back and not live up to my unrealistic expectations but I never should have worried. Of course they were never gonna release anything that isn't good, and these 4 just know music. It's a true gift to the fans.
@DanCanReact my guess would be Las Vegas but who knows. One of the producers have spoken about them having talks with the US and Australia so I think it'll happen. The ABBA Arena is built so it can be flat packed and the original idea was to tour the world with it. But that was too impractical but I'm sure they'll build more of them. Björn has spoken about Singapore. The Voyage show is the reason they made the new album because they always had new music when they went on tour so B & B thought they should make some songs for this show as well. The girls agreed to give it a try as long as they didn't have to do any press for it and that they wouldn't release anything if it didn't sound good. I was at the 2nd anniversary last year so I got to see Björn anf Benny, I was no more than 6 meters away from them when they walked off the stage. Felt unreal. And just to point out, the music is being played by a live band. The only thing that's not live is the lead vocals for obvious reasons.
Dear all, I really still remember hearing in Sept. 2021 both "new" songs in that TV interview with Zoe Ball. As an Abba fan since 1974 I was so touched to have new music from our heros. And besides the fact that the voices of both ladies have been aged and are lower now, it is still a magiv moment hearing them together in harmonies. I can not say which song of those two songa mean more to me. I really wonder, because both songs did not reached that attention worldwide to me wider audience, I have the feeling it was more amongst the ABBA community. The times when the songs are played in the radio are not that often. You might hear "Dancing Queen" or others three times a day, but not "Dont shut me down". I still wonder... Take care and enjoy. 🙂
And let's not forget that the album was no1 in 18 countries, even no2/ US and top 3 almost everywhere. It was one of the best selling albums of the year worldwide. And all this after nearly 4 decades of no new Abba material.Phew!
Btw both songs are performed in the "jaw-dropping"(as critics described) ABBA VOYAGE gig set-list in London. So they kinda pass from Gen to Gen i hope, since this is an experience most will not forget as they say.
they did a complete new album in 2021 after 40 years.....same singers....same members.......ALL 70 plus in age - and everybody knows from the very beginning its ABBA...listen to JUST A NOTION - DONT SHUT ME DOWN - ODE TO FREEDOM - I CAN BE THAT WOMAN
"Ode to Freedom" is for me the most anthemic goodbye song they've put in there , to leave us after the "circle closed".It's the closer of the album.Haunting, soothing yet desperate and kinda breaths out something like 'ok guys, time's up for us.That was it.Goodbye and thank you for everything. We 'll never forget you". I recall Frida saying in her last visit in VOYAGE London 2024."I Love you.Thank you for all your support over the years I'm so touched" with her voice cracking from the emotion flooding all over and the crowd went crazy down there! And if i remeember well in another recent occasion she kinda said "Dear all, thank you for spending time to make this old lady happy"..so lovely.
Do react to the rest of their new 2021 Voyage album: 1. Don't Shut Me Down 2. When You Dance With Me 3. Just A Notion 4. No Doubt About It 5. Keep An Eye On Dan 6. Ode To Freedom 7. I Can Be That Woman 8. Bumblebee
I'm happy that you have finally reached this historic moment, in this ABBA Journey that we are sharing on your channel. The great news of this 21st century for the world of music is the return of the mythical Swedish quartet ABBA to the recording studios in 2017 after more than 35 years (the last song recorded was "The day before you came" in 1982 ) and the release of their new songs after 39 years (the last single released was "Under attack" in 1982) and a new full-length studio album after 40 years (the last one was "The Visitor" in 1981) Beyond the fact that these three data are for the Guinness Book of Records (I believe that no group, singer or artist can come close to these incredible and surprising brands), the most remarkable thing is How they came back, with what level of quality. . And I must say that ABBA exceeded all fears, doubts and expectations. Their return is impressive and his quality is still valid, incredible! We know the great spirit of perfection that Björn & Benny imprint on their creations, and their first two releases are up there with their greatest hits from the 80s. But the biggest unknown was knowing the state of the voices of Agnetha & Frida and how they could react to the inevitable passing of the decades and their possible comparisons with previous classics. And I must say that both look great. there is an extraordinary mime work by Björn & Benny to "pamper" their historic singers, and ex-partners. They were entrusted with two wonderful songs, with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics, but were also surrounded by the iconic hooks and the call for emotional nostalgia. "I still have faith in you" is an unprecedented song in its conception in the history of ABBA because it is self-referential about them as a quartet; and it is also testimonial, because they tell us about their experiences in all this time Musically I see it as a mystical and epic ballad. A majestic piano and Frida's soft voice drive and recreate the ABBA story with moving beauty, with Agnetha joining in on a few verses to emphasize (and remind us of the famous 'third voice') The sound of the drums (a nod to the megahit "Fernando") is preparing the change of rhythm And with a powerful guitar comes that first unprecedented chorus, because this time all of ABBA sings from the depths of its history and with the strength of its testimony of life, healing and union. And in the second part the second chorus is even stronger, at times they even sing at three levels of voices, it is very clear that ABBA sings with the passion and courage that Björn's excellent lyrics highlight, it is like a triumphant song of thier survival and their bond And it ends with a solo by Frida, impeccable, with the sound of the flutes at the end The official video is also unprecedented in the history of ABBA For the first time, it shows them in the past and in retrospect. The entire first part (in black and white) is from their youth and beginnings, to the images of Eurovision 1974. Then comes (in color) the memorable tour to Australia 1977, with images of the incredible 'ABBAmania', taken in the movie "ABBA The Movie", and for the change of pace and the first chorus comes a succession of all the official videos. of ABBA up to and including 1979 Then comes the new melodic bridge and the initial image is resumed: ABBA prepared to go out to their last concerts in London in 1979, and that second chorus is interpreted by them as their 'ABBAtars' And here is a symbology: That scene is like the transition: ABBA are no longer the ones we remember, now we will see them in their ABBAtars recreating their image from the late 70s And this is how the Voyage Concerts that opened at the new ABBA Arena in London since May of 2022, and that they are a colossal success, with sales entries until May of next year, with projects to expand to other places like Australia or Singapur etc This official video was released globally in a Live Stream that showed ABBA fan meetings simultaneously in various cities around the world: Stockholm, London, Vienna, Berlin, Rejkiavik, New York, São Paulo, etc. BBC London interrupted its regular programming to join the launch of this video at exactly 5:00 p.m. on September 2 (2021) and for the second song "Don't shut me down" the lights came on with the new images of ABBA Voyage on the main bridge of Sydney at night in Australia while the pictures showed many mature ABBA fans crying with emotion upon hearing new ABBA songs again after almost 40 years (as I cried from a distance following the live broadcast on UA-cam). Thank you for your great reaction, with respect and admiration for music and history of ABBA, See you in the next new song I hope that you react now to "Don't shut me down" a fantastic masterpiece of the new milenium My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina South America

Thanks so much for the thoughtful context and breakdown Eduardo! I really appreciate it! After this song, I do plan to check out Don't Shut Me Down, since everyone keeps talking about it.
50 years almost of being a hardcore fan and this song and video and the whole Voyage announcement had me bawling my eyes out and still watching this everytime has me in tears. ABBAs comeback was exactly what the world needed at that time. I have seen almost all that footage except a few blooper additions which were fun to see. Great reaction Dan, others have commented on details re this song and the whole ABBAtar Voyage.
such a simpler time, they were simply amazing back them, so far-ahead in production for that time. Their voices after all this time are still amazing, such out the 2021 come-back single "Don't Shut Me Down"
The end of this video is from their show in London using "ABBAtars". I was fortunate enough to see this show a couple years ago and it certainly didn't disappoint. If you didn't know better, you'd think they were there performing live. I have watched reactions to this song numerous times. You are the only one to catch the face Agnetha made when Frida laid her head on Agnetha's shoulder. Kudos!! It's why I love your reactions. You see the detail and your reactions are heartfelt. If you want an upbeat song from the current album, you should react to "Don't Shut Me Down".
You are so right! I actually saw one more reactor noticing the look Agnetha gives, but only with a smile, he didn't mention it. So yes, I enjoyed that detail here, too 🤗
First of all, that must have been such a FANTASTIC experience to go see their show in London! I could imagine how fun that must have been. Also, that compliment made me smile! I try my best to take in both the details of the music and the video, to fully appreciate what I'm watching. But with talented artists like this, so much is going on, you can rewatch/relisten and find something new to appreciate. That's what I really enjoy about these videos 😁
ABBA came back with a new album after a 40 year hiatus, now who manage to do that? And to still sing so well in their mid 70's is incredible. Thanks from a snow covered Sweden to Slashdisco and thank you for another great video reaction ❤🇸🇪 ps. Please, please do a reacrion of their second comeback song too, "Don't shut me down"❤
Abba is a phenomenon.Actually if you think about it...They left the music world in the Vynil/early CD era and came back in the streaming age.Their comeback, organic,"trendblind" work became the 3rd best selling one worldwide in the year end charts of 2021(physical sales) and no8 regarding all formats with streamings and stuff. In the UK it was the 3rd best selling with only Ed Sheeran and Adele above and Germany was the no1 annual best seller. That's really big deal for an act that was absent from the music markets and lacked new recording activity for about 40 years.Proved they still hadn't really lost their touch.
ps PS."Don't shut me Down" is for me a crossroad between "Dancing Queen" and "Super Trouper".A vital Abba juice that sounds so "ABBA" as if it was recorded in the '70s/'80s.I believe that if someone wasn't told that this is a recent recording he propably wouldn't notice the difference.
@@DanCanReact That event on the Melbourne Town Hall was a cherry on the pie.Massive hysteria. It's more detailed and punctual as featured in ABBA-The Movie.
They performed all the songs in the studio with their voices and body movements.its the genuine atricle,as ABBA stated what you see and ear at the concert "is" ABBA The songs are new and the singing was recorded in the present As for the Carpenters ,I don't see how they could do the same wih Karen Carpenter being deceased,it would be maybe just a copy of existing old video
Kaysee here ... I've never heard of this song before but then again. I have to admit that I prefer their early stuff like "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do". Even tho I'm not on Patreon if I can suggest a song to you Dan, it would be "Piano In The Dark" by Brenda Russell. This is a beautiful song and one of my favourite non Carpenters songs 🙂
I grew up with a lot of modern artists, so I don't think that's completely false. But I'm enjoying educating myself with these videos, and giving my genuine reaction 😁
One of the obvious things missing is the higher harmonies that is usually taken by Agnetha. They are for the most part all missing and you really don't get the true Abba sound. Being in their mid to late 70s make that understandable. I am indifferent to this one. it's one i don't really listen to much from their last album. Agnetha's voice has suffered the most and they put Frida's voice to the fore in most tracks. All the backing tracks are slightly overproduced to cover any deficiencies in the vocal. Again, understandable given their ages. The question will be was it worth it in the end. Some will say yes, others will say no.
Agnetha’s voice has matured but is still perfect and she sings lots of leadtracks on this album. And ‘overproduced’ was ABBA always by putting many vocal layers on top of eachother That’s what creaties their signature sound.
@@Arkomu Overproduced in a sense that the backing music tracks bury the vocal lines quite a bit. In Abba tracks you would find Agnetha throw in a third high harmony. Frida would sometimes do them as well. They are all now gone-which is understandable. It's a matter of whether you accept the new limitations or you let the fans remember them as they were in their peak. It's an individual thing.
I personally really enjoyed this one, but I could understand how some might not like their more mature voices. It's certainly different, but better than most artists nowadays!
@@DanCanReactcorrect! As time went by, changes happened ABBA singers were already in their 70's. The voices of Anni-Frid and Agnetha changed but the most important there was they were able to produce the greatest songs. Kudos to Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Anni-Frid/ Frida❤️❤️❤️Thank you of your reaction. Sending love from the Philippines 🇵🇭
yes Agnethas voice is fragile now. But to be fair I always thought Frida had the better stronger voice and was professionally trained in opera and jazz.
Not a fan of their voices....I know they are older....it just doesn't hit me as the classic songs they did in their heyday....that is whom I prefer to listen to....
As opposed to some other music reactors maybe being tricky clickbaiters I personally feel he's another case. If i remember well, our Canadian friend had said that he is only familiar to a few of Abba's big hits due to his remembering one of his family members playing a GH album. So Dan is kind of a a newcomer to their story.videos, deep cuts, legacy. So let's encourage him to explore more of them to get to know them better.Btw he's also done other Abba reactions and seems to be highly attracted by them. Have a good day guys 😊.
This song has the capacity of tugging your heartstrings in sustaining way. I reminisce the fact that this group is the Carpenters' contemporary and their good rival, I might say. Both groups reign in the 70's and many people all over the world knew, loved and grew up with their songs. And now, we are so privileged to hear ABBA once more in their matured and grown sound. It's so amazing, life has presented to us now. I just can't help but think, what if Karen Carpenter were still alive today. What were her sound like and would we have the honor to see them together, ABBA and the Carpenters in one stage? Just a fun thought to engage in. Hehe
I honestly feel the same way!... Now that I've listened to Karen and Richard, I can't help but wonder what it would be like if they continued making music - and Karen was still alive and well 😔
Best band in history
The fact that this song came out 3 years ago and yes they are different, but they are just as good as they were 40+ years ago, brings tears of happiness to my eyes for them. Thank you ABBA!

Don’t shut me down. Yes!
I heard that both this song and "Don't Shut Me Down" came out at the same time.
Honestly, this was such a nice way to give back to their fans, for all their loyal support. Truly beautiful 😇
I don't doubt it, I'm excited to check out Don't Let Me Down!!!
I know I would feel the same, had I been a fan back then 🥰 It's awesome that they did that!

...I was owerhelming too and having feelings of pure joy in 2,3 Month after they played it for first time 🎉😂🎉😂🎉😂🎉😂🎉😂
PLEASE, do ODE TO FREEDOM,too🎶❣️🎶❣️🎶❣️🎶❣️🎶❣️ Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
I can't watch it without having chills and tears in my eyes. That's why I avoid watching it. I hate crying. With ABBA we can never go wrong. This video is really, really deep and true.
Great reaction.
Greetings from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I can imagine this would be an incredibly emotional song for long time fans. I'm glad I was requested to react to it!!
Wow, didn't know it would be coming to North America. Hopefully it also comes here in Canada, so I don't have to travel far to watch it 🤞
@DanCanReact my guess would be Las Vegas but who knows.
Don't shut me down is the best song on the album for me
Looking forward to hearing it 😁
Some of the footage is New some of it we’ve seen where they’re waving into the crowd that was in Australia
I see, thanks for letting me know!
Oh, it performed pretty well, with 40+ million views on UA-cam, it definitely caught the attention of a lot of people!
Footage is mostly what we have seen before. Particularly the concert tour footage from Australia.
I see, thanks for letting me know 😊
they did a complete new album in 2021 after 40 years.....same singers....same members.......ALL 70 plus in age - and everybody knows from the very beginning its ABBA...listen to JUST A NOTION - DONT SHUT ME DOWN - ODE TO FREEDOM - I CAN BE THAT WOMAN
Yeah, it's really impressive!
@alexioverdo5225I really LOVE ODE TO FREEDOM, MORE THAN EPIC🎶❣️ THANKS FOR YOUR WORDS🎶

Besides Don't Shut Me Down, you REALLY HAVE TO check out all the other songs from no. 1 to 8.
They are really really good 👍❤
I'm happy that you have finally reached this historic moment,
in this ABBA Journey that we are sharing on your channel.
The great news of this 21st century for the world of music
is the return of the mythical Swedish quartet ABBA to the recording studios in 2017
after more than 35 years (the last song recorded was "The day before you came" in 1982 )
and the release of their new songs after 39 years (the last single released was "Under attack" in 1982)
and a new full-length studio album after 40 years (the last one was "The Visitor" in 1981)
Beyond the fact that these three data are for the Guinness Book of Records
(I believe that no group, singer or artist can come close to these incredible and surprising brands),
the most remarkable thing is How they came back, with what level of quality. .
And I must say that ABBA exceeded all fears, doubts and expectations.
Their return is impressive and his quality is still valid, incredible!
We know the great spirit of perfection that Björn & Benny imprint on their creations,
and their first two releases are up there with their greatest hits from the 80s.
But the biggest unknown was knowing the state of the voices of Agnetha & Frida
and how they could react to the inevitable passing of the decades
and their possible comparisons with previous classics. And I must say that both look great.
there is an extraordinary mime work by Björn & Benny
to "pamper" their historic singers, and ex-partners.
They were entrusted with two wonderful songs, with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics,
but were also surrounded by the iconic hooks and the call for emotional nostalgia.
"I still have faith in you"
is an unprecedented song in its conception in the history of ABBA
because it is self-referential about them as a quartet;
and it is also testimonial, because they tell us about their experiences in all this time
Musically I see it as a mystical and epic ballad.
A majestic piano and Frida's soft voice drive
and recreate the ABBA story with moving beauty,
with Agnetha joining in on a few verses to emphasize
(and remind us of the famous 'third voice')
The sound of the drums (a nod to the megahit "Fernando")
is preparing the change of rhythm
And with a powerful guitar comes that first unprecedented chorus,
because this time all of ABBA sings from the depths of its history
and with the strength of its testimony of life, healing and union.
And in the second part the second chorus is even stronger,
at times they even sing at three levels of voices,
it is very clear that ABBA sings with the passion and courage
that Björn's excellent lyrics highlight,
it is like a triumphant song of thier survival and their bond
And it ends with a solo by Frida, impeccable,
with the sound of the flutes at the end
The official video is also unprecedented in the history of ABBA
For the first time, it shows them in the past and in retrospect.
The entire first part (in black and white) is from their youth and beginnings,
to the images of Eurovision 1974.
Then comes (in color) the memorable tour to Australia 1977,
with images of the incredible 'ABBAmania', taken in the movie "ABBA The Movie",
and for the change of pace and the first chorus comes a succession
of all the official videos. of ABBA up to and including 1979
Then comes the new melodic bridge and the initial image is resumed:
ABBA prepared to go out to their last concerts in London in 1979,
and that second chorus is interpreted by them as their 'ABBAtars'
And here is a symbology:
That scene is like the transition:
ABBA are no longer the ones we remember,
now we will see them in their ABBAtars recreating their image from the late 70s
And this is how the Voyage Concerts that opened
at the new ABBA Arena in London since May of 2022,
and that they are a colossal success, with sales entries until May of next year,
with projects to expand to other places like Australia or Singapur etc
This official video was released globally in a Live Stream
that showed ABBA fan meetings simultaneously in various cities around the world:
Stockholm, London, Vienna, Berlin, Rejkiavik, New York, São Paulo, etc.
BBC London interrupted its regular programming
to join the launch of this video at exactly 5:00 p.m. on September 2 (2021)
and for the second song
"Don't shut me down"
the lights came on with the new images of ABBA Voyage
on the main bridge of Sydney at night in Australia
while the pictures showed many mature ABBA fans crying with emotion
upon hearing new ABBA songs again after almost 40 years
(as I cried from a distance following the live broadcast on UA-cam).
Thank you for your great reaction,
with respect and admiration for music and history of ABBA,
See you in the next new song
I hope that you react now to
"Don't shut me down"
a fantastic masterpiece of the new milenium
My best regards from
Buenos Aires, Argentina
South America
Next time, please keep it short. When it's too long, it's boring. Thanks for your efforts at information on every abba reactions channels. It's becoming like a crazy abba stalker on a mission.
Thanks so much for the thoughtful context and breakdown Eduardo! I really appreciate it!
After this song, I do plan to check out Don't Shut Me Down, since everyone keeps talking about it.
They released a surprise album 40 years after their last one.
Must have been a crazy feeling to find out they released a new one after 40 years!!

Yeah, I'm loving these comments, a lot of good breakdowns and context!
such a simpler time, they were simply amazing back them, so far-ahead in production for that time. Their voices after all this time are still amazing, such out the 2021 come-back single "Don't Shut Me Down"
Everyone keeps talking about Don't Shut Me Down, so I imagine it's going to be amazing when I react to it 🔥 Excited!!
Thanks from a snow covered Sweden to Slashdisco and thank you for another great video reaction ❤🇸🇪
ps.
And thank you for commenting! So many people have mentioned Don't Shut Me Down, so I'll definitely have to check it out! ❤
You're right. I sobbed and sobbed 😭
I wouldn't blame you for doing that if my favorite group came back after 40 years to make an album!!
I've seen that footage before... @2:22 ABBA on on the the Melbourne Town Hall balcony. These were scenes from their Australian tour.
Interesting!
@@DanCanReact That event on the Melbourne Town Hall was a cherry on the pie.Massive hysteria. It's more detailed and punctual as featured in ABBA-The Movie.
Ich hab geweint als ich es das erste mal gehört habe, denn es bringt etwas zum Abschluss.
A Lo of footage was from the Australian tour On the balcony was in Melbourne. The second part of the clip is the ABBA-tars. It’s the new digital show.
I see, I wish I could see their ABBA-tars in person, looks so realistic!
@@DanCanReact I saw it in London in December 2023. It’s insane.
They performed all the songs in the studio with their voices and body movements.its the genuine atricle,as ABBA stated what you see and ear at the concert "is" ABBA
The songs are new and the singing was recorded in the present
As for the Carpenters ,I don't see how they could do the same wih Karen Carpenter being deceased,it would be maybe just a copy of existing old video
It would probably require someone who could impersonate Karen for it to KIND OF work, but yeah, I get you!
I would love a reaction to Devin Townsend - Lightwork
Thanks for the suggestion Nikita!!
@@DanCanReact you’re so welcome. It’s an emotional one for me. Google what a light worker is. ❤️
Also react to "Eyes of Dan",something, from this new..It s good !
I like the name of that song 😝😉
@@DanCanReact Actually the songs name is 'Keep An Eye On Dan'...
Interesting, I haven't heard of Brenda. That could be a possibility for the future!
She almost sounds like Karen Carpenter here
Am Ende sieht’s du die Avatars von ABBA
Yeah!!
Gen z doesn't know anything about music or anything else.
Maybe, just maybe, they know beyonce, swift and kardashians.
Nothing more.
That may be true of most Gen-z, but not this reactor.
Fair enough!
Another useless review from americans that are just in for a clickbait. And 3 year late, i mean seriously?
Love the presumptuous comment! I'm Canadian and I never even listened to ABBA 3 years ago 😅
