I’m slightly disappointed we didn’t get to see weird Chinese Pre-Dreadnought hulls, but I also don’t want to wait 60 episodes to see the new hulls (Some exist before 1930, but I mean...), so...
I've noticed that they need to rework radar. By gen two radar you should be able to fire on a ship you can't see, but I've been really close to a ship in midnight storms with gen three radar and I don't fire on the enemy.
Protip: putting the front tower farther back on the experimental battleship allows you to put another large barbette behind the bespoke barbette, and will let you have 3 gun turrets that are superfiring, with enough space for 1 turret in the back, like what you did previously. And unlike the Texas inspired battleship you can support up to 16 inch guns.
You can rotate the dual barbettes, it's only the preview that's bugged. Also, the "Wide Barbette (Very Small)" is very useful for my favorite Shenanigans - chain a few of them to create a mounting point in a spot where you would normally not be allowed to place a barbette. (Just keep in mind how screwy the rules about moving and deleting chained parts are...)
The Compact Light Cruiser can make a great Dido/Atlanta/Minotaur class CL with triple 5”/6” guns forward and back. The hull can be pushed to 32 knots. Absolutely brilliant screening for larger ships and if you fit them with two quintuple torpedo launchers they can keep other, heavily armed cruisers at bay. They Murder destroyers so well.

A third tranche of four Wuidian class destroyers have been started in May along with another Hunan class heavy cruiser.

2:09 that’s actually a really small superstructure, smaller than all but one Allied nation, and smaller than Germany and Italy, It just looks really abnormal, plus it has a funnel slot Add to that the hull can achieve high speeds and superfiring at the back (same as the chinese hull you chose) (just a single gun for more balance), Super duper firing at the front (14?-18 inch with very low draft, unless they patched that, but I think with 12 or 14 inch guns the draft doesn’t need to be changed) But I don’t mind the new hull at all, it’s uhhh... I honestly don’t understand the weird mashup of stuff China has going on, but it makes things quite interesting 29:10 (I’f you lengthen the hull it might give you another possible gun fit 44:49 same here)

(Not joking - I have screenshots to prove it) P.S. The “1.3.1 Live R” hot-fix didn’t have it listed in the patch notes, so it’s probs still there if you want to laugh yourself silly 😉

Per the sales agreement they were to be provided a period of training and familiarization in a training operation with a Chinese Republic Navy ship, in this case the Xinxiang, the lead ship of her light cruiser class and differing from the Yangjiang class only in having fewer gun turrets. With the outbreak of war last month the captains of the two Lithuanian ships asked to be allowed to stay in theatre and continue to operate with the Xinxiang. Together they encountered three Soviet Navy Kerch class light cruisers in the Sea of Japan at night just before dawn. The Kerch class is a 8422 ton vessel armed with four triple 5.5” gun turrets as their main battery but with a 39.7 knot top speed. The Siáu-chiòng flying his flag on the Xinxiang ordered the squadron to close on the enemy but with their superior speed they avoided battle. Considering an attempt at a stern chase in the dark to be pointless, the Siáu-chiòng ordered the allied ships to turn away. This seems to have awoken some sort of Communist form of bravery, as they turned back to begin a pursuit. The Siáu-chiòng ordered his three ships to maintain a course away from the Soviets until he could turn around and engage them with superior fire power. When he did it was too late for the Soviets to break free. In the confusion that followed the first hits were made on the Soviet ship Tallin. The torpedo crew of the Xinxiang attempted a badly aimed torpedo launch and the Jiaozuo had to be ordered to maneuver to avoid it. All succumb to flooding hits they could not control in the darkness. Serious damage on the Xinxiang caused 98 casualties, five of who were treated and returned to duty. The Zhuzhou took 27 casualties. I designed a Chinese BB on that hull, and they don't get the right funnels, and I know how I balanced it. So that's what's coming right? ABCXY triples? In my campaign I designed it, but never built it.
Oh btw, the dual barbettes have this weird glitch where when you rotate them, the green one is a "phantom" and the real position of the barbette exactly on the opposite side. Which is what happened when you rotated them and they "immediately snapped back". This observation was in beta so idk if it's intentional now but you could try
Probably? Not sure why; guns that big are slow and have trouble against fast moving ships up close, but aren’t big enough to really hurt big ships farther out.
there's a reason that navies IRL didn't do that after the predreadnought era. They're too slow to aim against light ships, and use up displacement that you could use for heavier guns better suited for heavy ships.
@@jeremielarin1979 the main battery is already devastating against heavy cruisers. 7-8" guns are really best suited for the main battery on a cruiser. The RN actually decreased the size of its battleship secondaries from 6" to 5.25" in order to have dual-purpose guns.

When this video came out, one of my first thoughts was the newspaper would be the South China Morning Post, but then I remembered that SCMP is a Hong Kong-based, and therefore British, paper (in the game's timeline, that is).
1890 anywhere is torture. Your best bet is to have a v small fleet, try and keep out at all wars until your economy picks up and you can build ships that aren’t complete garbage
I was wondering, brothermunro, is it possible for a 100-year campaign? Like as far back into the mid 1800's, to 1950. So basically, going from Iron-Clad to Modern WW2 Era Fast battleships. If that is possible, could all playable nations participate; and would you consider doing a campaign like that?
Longest campaign you can do is 1890-1950. Honestly I find the pre dreadnought era torturous (unless I’m playing France) which is why you hardly ever seen me playing the early game.

Yeaaa, I just uninstalled the game after a couple month break after giving it another shot. It's still in a horrible state. When my ships are unable to sail in a straight line without turning into a sine graph, things aren't right. Not to mention the 'gun accuracy' tooltip doesn't reflect close to reality.

It seems bizarre to see a ship with that much weaponry not flying the Stars and Stripes.
You also got mk5 5” guns right at the end of the episode, so you’ll probably want to refit your ships ASAP to upgrade them.

Tried on the beta to absolutely cheese through the secondaries. I stayed in the shipyard for an hour ;-;
I found that changing the type of shell being fired often fixed the turret non-rotation bug. In 1.2.9 at least

When this video came out, one of my first thoughts was the newspaper would be the South China Morning Post, but then I remembered that SCMP is a Hong Kong-based, and therefore British, paper (in the game's timeline, that is).

1890 China is actually really difficult
1890 anywhere is torture. Your best bet is to have a v small fleet, try and keep out at all wars until your economy picks up and you can build ships that aren’t complete garbage
If there aren´t any submarines why would you need depth charges?

I was wondering, brothermunro, is it possible for a 100-year campaign? Like as far back into the mid 1800's, to 1950. So basically, going from Iron-Clad to Modern WW2 Era Fast battleships. If that is possible, could all playable nations participate; and would you consider doing a campaign like that?
Longest campaign you can do is 1890-1950. Honestly I find the pre dreadnought era torturous (unless I’m playing France) which is why you hardly ever seen me playing the early game.

No, but I didn’t realise the submarines were removed until after I fitted them. So they’re for fishing.

I’m doing a Spanish succession campaign and I’ll be playing 1910-20, 1930-35, and 1945-50. Next full campaign will be Germany from 1900.
Yeaaa, I just uninstalled the game after a couple month break after giving it another shot. It's still in a horrible state. When my ships are unable to sail in a straight line without turning into a sine graph, things aren't right. Not to mention the 'gun accuracy' tooltip doesn't reflect close to reality.
