i studied psychology and my parents are therapists, and I see so many representations of therapy that feel so judgmental and damaging-it’s so relieving to see one feel so accurate, calming, and accepting. thanks so much for giving this gift to me and the internet(:
There's a particular favorite ASMR video by GibiASMR that centers around asking odd questions that don't require too much thinking and won't stress you out(ASMR Therapist Asks You Odd Questions, I think it's called). While not exactly realistic, I highly recommend it if you like this sort of therapist content :D
I’m a therapist and while I deal with mostly teens, a fair amount of them are less-than-pleased to be coming to see me, at least to start, just like this. So well done! Respectful and relatable. If you were a therapist I’d surely come see you, and I’d certainly recommend you 😊
i really appreciate the detail in this one especially. i like how you take the time to recognize the difference in court ordered and regular therapy. i have an appointment in literally 6 hours for my court ordered therapy, so i appreciate seeing someone be aware of these things. thank you sm
J, you have such a natural gift for communicating, connecting and putting things into prospective. A very wise session. I'm not always the best at listening or even taking advice, but this kept me focused, so well done sir. 👍
I always enjoy hearing your stories as a child. It does hit home a lot especially the feeling of not being good enough, a burden, a waste of space. I relate to all of that a lot. What really focused my attention was how you talked about your fascination with psychology and your curiosity with why people think the way they think. Reminds me of our talk that one time about that. This video felt like what we talked about and it’s a good reassurance. Especially when you talked about not victimizing oneself, remembering how we have agency over ourselves, how we have control over our actions whether it’s verbal or physical. This video is just top notch and I needed this. I felt this a lot. Thank you J 💙
I don't know if this is intentional or not 🤭 but discussing your job in such a jovial manner would no doubt help the client believe they aren't being "tricked" by you and think that youre a shining light in the system. For court ordered therapy I could imagine that working effectively Really clever stuff 😉😉
January was a long month for a number of reasons and your videos helped me make it through. The last three in particular have all had nuggets that I keep coming back to. Thank you for what you do. It truly helps so many people 🥰
I love how these videos always seem to go right the edge, just right to the brink and then brings us back. I almost forget it’s ASMR. So well done!!! The story of young Miah always hits me and has such an effect on me like it speaks to my own inner child…. ❤
I deal a lot with the fact that I feel like I'm a burden, wasting peoples time , im not enough and at the same time that im to much , maximizer / minimizer in dealing with anxiety / panic attacks
Thank you so much for doing this video. I especially appreciated you sharing a story from your childhood; I have a 5 year old at home and sometimes people forget that her rational brain is a long way from being fully developed.
I am a new subscriber and love a lot of your videos but the therapy ones are quickly becoming my favorites. I feel like your Therapy Role Plays are a combination ASMR and motivational speaking. Being in my late 40s and pondering a lot about life and parenting, I have been thinking about a lot of the things you shared in the video, and loved the connection. You play this role with such kindness. Firm and understanding at the same time. Congratulations on a job well done and thank you for bringing joy into our lives with your Art.
I love watching these kinds of videos and pretend I wasn’t the person he was looking for. So I am just like “Sir, I just wanted to know where the nearest Costco was” the whole time lol
Yes, now you've said it, I can certainly see Jeremiah in that role, no discredit to Robin of course who clearly gave a powerhouse performance. Great movie. 👍
Does anyone have any advice when it comes to finding therapy in the absence of any major dysfunctions? My brain feels like such a muddle and I want so strongly to be able to sit down with a neutral party and really dig into my own mind and figure stuff out about myself. But the few times I've tried to dabble in these kind of services, they seemed really confused about how to place me or what to offer me, since I said I'm not experiencing suicidal thoughts or debilitating anxiety. I attempted preliminary counseling a couple of times, but it seemed pretty clear that these types of services were for people who needed it more than me. And also, if I do try to force my way into a therapy situation, isn't it true that I would be taking valuable time and resources away from someone who is much closer to crisis than I am? Is there any way to seek this out that doesn't compromise the needs of others?
Hi Misha, I think that mental health is for everyone regardless of whether we're in crisis. You can think of it in the same way that we sometimes see a doctor for a checkup even though we might not have a serious medical condition. It's actually a great idea to regularly invest in our mental well-being before we're even in a crisis. A couple of suggestions would be to either journal or make a list of the reasons you are interested in therapy. Perhaps it's to understand yourself better, or to see where you might want to make changes, or to work toward increasing feelings of well-being, find ways to practice self-care, or just process what is on your mind. Your thoughts and feelings are just as valid as everyone else. After you make your list, you could take it to the therapist and even ask them to help you set treatment goals. That is part of their role. Lastly, you might want to look into different types of therapy. There is psychotherapy, DBT, CBT, art therapy, expressive therapy...I would encourage you to find someone who feels like a good match for you. There are even peer support staff at some mental health clinics. There are lots of choices and you deserve to take care of you! If you try again and still feel hesitant, I would encourage you to share those feelings in therapy. Best wishes.
i strongly believe in mental health as a preventative! there is nothing wrong with seeking therapy without crisis or prevalent issues. as for your concern, there are special clinics that do focus on trauma or other specialized areas but since you don’t feel as you need them, you won’t be taking resources away dont worry 👍🏻 maybe even try something like betterhelp which is made for these reasons
@@MishaShivers im sorry to hear that! as mental health case manager, the verbiage you use is important to explain why u need services (essentially they have to diagnose u with something so that they can bill insurance). if you’re feeling lost and “thoughts are muddled” that should be the main narrative you should advocate for yourself for services. dont let them tell u otherwise!
This put me in mind of one of those episodes of Law&Order where something extra traumatic happened and all of the detectives need a psych eval before they're allowed to go back to work but none of them actually want to do it. I need a hobby.
Does this mean I get to be Matt Damon lol. Alright I'm pumped! Let the healing begin! We can make a lotta love before the sun goes down ;) skyyyy rockets in flight, afternoon delight !! Heyyy
I love your videos so much and they always put me to sleep super fast, but my mom does court ordered therapy and the amount of times I've had to roleplay with her as the ex-convict in her office for practice assignments while she was in college made this video SO weird to watch ☠️☠️☠️ its too accurate lmao
Not all parents try their best, that’s an enabling, victim blaming, and dismissive thing to say. I think that might be a dangerous message to send an audience
I think there’s something fundamentally wrong with me. I’m scared I’ll feel this way forever. Is the damage too extensive? Is healing even possible? Or will life always be managing the symptoms? I’m just so tired
i'd look into cptsd if you haven't, cause even though i couldn't possibly diagnose you, feeling like you're "fundamentally broken" is a huge symptom and the good thing about that being the issue is cptsd IS treatable even though almost everyone with it believes it's not. i hope you find healing and please also talk to a therapist if you want! you're NOT too broken for it and deserve to be happy as much as everyone else ❤
Thanks so much for this Mr Jeremiah 🤍🤍, even i'm 21 years old i still envy teenagers of understanding parents...i feel shame about it but can't stop feeling in (They are neglected teens who cause trouble. They don't deserve understanding parents), i also think i apologizing to their parents, they are very tired... I am really a good teenager, I don't understand why my parents abandoned me?

Damn you are lucky to have psychology knowledgeable parents that don’t just use it to manipulate the fuck out of you!
I watched so many different asmrtists but this guy is truly so dear to my heart smh. Thank you Mr Jeremiah for the efforts you put in your videos
Wow, thank you. 😊

As a psych major, this is such a good video! Nailed it with the parent/child relationship, formally known as our "attachment style" in adults
