You’re describing a lot of things that happened after its inception though. Joe said blacks and Latinos created hip hop 50/50. And a lot of pioneers were just saying no that’s not true. Puerto Ricans participated early. And had a lot of major contributions. But it was created by black people in NYC. The DJ’s played a major role back then more than the emcees which I’m sure you know. Also hip hop was scratching and sampling funk and R&B. I don’t know what white songs you’re referring to. The DJ’s were taking James Brown and other funk records that their parents were into and playing those or stretching the break downs into “break beats” for the parties.
