The term Foundational Black American (FBA) represents the descendants of enslaved Africans who were forcibly brought to the land that would become the United States. These men, women, and children endured unimaginable suffering and dehumanization, yet they built the economic, cultural, and social foundation of this nation. FBA is not just a label-it’s a recognition of a unique and irreplaceable lineage, a story of resilience, resistance, and triumph against systems designed to erase and oppress.
To be a Foundational Black American is to stand firmly in the truth of one’s ancestry, to honor those who built this country with their blood, sweat, and tears. It is about reclaiming a narrative often distorted or forgotten, ensuring that their sacrifices are neither erased nor overshadowed. This identity is rooted in pride, love, and legacy-an affirmation of the distinct cultural contributions of FBAs, from the spirituals born in fields of oppression to the civil rights movements that reshaped the nation, to the artistry, music, and innovation that continue to define American culture.
It’s essential to state unequivocally: Foundational Black American is not a hate group. It does not stand against Black immigrants from across the diaspora but does insist on clarity and respect. It recognizes that while all Black people face the global scourge of white supremacy, the specific struggles and contributions of FBAs within the United States must not be undermined, erased, or exploited-whether intentionally or unintentionally-by anyone, including those who may look like them but do not share their unique lineage or historical experience.
This stance is not about division; it’s about protecting and preserving the legacy of a people whose sacrifices and achievements often go unacknowledged, even among others within the diaspora. It is about ensuring that the voices of FBAs remain centered in conversations about justice, reparations, and equity in the United States.
Ultimately, the FBA identity is about love-love for the ancestors who endured the unthinkable, love for the descendants carrying their torch, and love for the truth of their history and contributions. It’s about standing with conviction, honoring legacy, and ensuring that this proud lineage is never overshadowed or forgotten.

Africans were sent to other countries during the Transatlantic Slave Trade not just the U.S. Trying to say that the above mentioned don't have a say in anything contributed to black ppl in this country is 🐂💩, especially when black people in these countries understand oppression, racism, bigotry, and inequality the same way we do in America. FBA is just a lineage... It's not separation, it's huddling in, becoming culturally cohesive. PS, this is how all of the groups work because they're culturally cohesive. There is much power in keeping FBA separate, but thats another story!
It's recognizing you ARE YOUR own unique Folk! It has nothing to do with keeping somebody out and everything to do with bringing your people's in.
Think about it this way Jamaicans are Jamaicans but they're black. Africans are Africans but they're black. Haitians are Haitians but they're black, FBA'S are FBA'S but we are black!
Does that stop me from loving my Haitian or Jamaican brethren or them I, NOT AT all.
FBIA's have been conditioned and taught that they have nothing so they remain mentally stagnated and it's a little frightening for some who' has been accepted somewhere else, thinking they will lose that privilege...probably because they don't think much of themselves.

Jamar needs to be canceled for supporting Donald Trump; and aint he at least half Guyanese. What the F is he talking about. Even the AI knows more than him: "Hip hop culture drew from various musical traditions, including funk, soul, disco, reggae, and jazz. Jamaican immigrants played a crucial role in shaping hip hop through their sound system culture and DJing techniques. Notably, DJ Kool Herc introduced breakbeat DJing-a technique where DJs would extend the instrumental breaks of songs to keep people dancing longer."
Only silly people like Jamar thinks money can't be made outside of America--hell, Stephon Marbury a king in China. I remember running into Schooly D years ago who was making a killing in Europe. Busta can be a king in Jamaica, Europe, China, South Korea--he don't even have to change his style. Seems like Jamar never left his neighborhood.
Come on man stop it, you say Jamaicans played a critical role and y’all still naming Herc and sound system culture.😂😂😂when your own elders CountMachuki & LeeCoxsoneDodd have admitted they got Toasting from FBA JiveTalking DJ’s JockoHenderson & Jackthe Rapper. Herc has said many time his Jamaican Culture was rejected and he had to assimilate into FBA CULTURE to rock the party. KoolHerc is give much love for his role in extending Breakbeats of JamesBrown music, but he didn’t start, birth or create HipHop, he’s one of the most popular DJ’s, but Flowers, Mario, Hollywood, TyronetheMixologist, PeteyGreen, all came before him. So besides Herc, what other Jamaican are you referring to? Bambatta was a BlackSpade and totally immersed into FBA CULTURE. So were you going with this lie?
@@stevenc.middleton1176 You saying besides Kool Herc who else--is like me saying besides Chuck Berry, perhaps Little Richard, who else started Rock N Roll. Second point, nobody said Kool Herc started anything; only that Jamaicans around that period started to move into black communities and integrate into black American culture and families, and bought elements of their culture into the creation of Hip Hop, that's a big difference--not this tethering example ya'll like to use because Hip Hop wouldn't sound the way it does without that element. Top it off, James Brown, Muhammad Ali, The Impressions big shit in Jamaica, Herc didn't have to come to America to hear that.
Jamaican Ska, Reggae is built upon American R&B, yet you can't tell me that Reggae and Ska is American R&B--and it's elements of that that made it's way back to America along with the Sound System. Americans didn't really start listening to Reggae until around 1979-1980 when Bob Marley became an international star. Hell, By the time of Doug E Fresh to Chub Rock to Heavy D, now it became obvious of the Jamaican Influence--even before that with Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick (who aint even American but Jamaican British).
