The GP Mucci Skid plate for the Tenere 700

  • GP Mucci has created not only a skid plate to protect the engine. It also cools the engine more effectively due to the open air flow in the front. Most of all though, it gives the Tenere 700 the waistline it deserves.

    Painted mine in black Raptor bedliner protection paint and it really works against stones and dirt. Running it for 2000km and airflow is perfect and engine remains at 81c. Tested it on 2 offroad crashes and works great with 0 dents. Raptor also helped. Looks much more discreet in black but sexy as f***k! A bit like Salma Hayek!
    Thinking on adding the H&B upper tankguard bars as they are the only ones that work with this skidplate and bolt to the subframe and not the engine.
    P.S also tested ( with crashes) the acerbis x-factor and they saved the rest of the bike! 5 *

    Hej Robert you ranger of the North! From experience with our Ténérés, I can only recommend a cover around the oil filter. Even though our bash plates have a bit less venting intake area, a stone pierced B's oil filter, which caused a bit of trouble. Hope to see you again next year!

      The oil filter cannot be hit straight from a stone here, it’s covered. And the stone should be little. Be alert with the mesh, in mud it work like a structure for the mud and in few minutes it become a wall of mud. No more air inside. We tested this tools in various condition and at the end the engine was more clean than with the standard. Mr Boano Ivan races in the river bed with his special T7 and this skidplate and after the last modifications it runs on the stones at 178kmh of gps. No damages from stones.

    Hello, nice belly pan, but I think that on technical parts where the T 700 heats up a lot, this engine protection is too enveloping and will not allow the heat to be dissipated from the exhaust manifolds. On the other hand, it does not protect the articulation of the bottom of the rear shock absorber, nor the water pump. You have AXP protection which is more effective. You don't have a crash bar which exposes the expansion tank to the left, if it falls, it will easily be broken. Thanks for the video.

    • @NomadSweden
      @NomadSweden  3 роки тому

      I think GPMucci has a great answer to that and disagree about the heat. Personally I will not have all these crash bars and protectors. I keep it light and it suits my riding style.

    • @atprodT700
      @atprodT700 3 роки тому

      @@NomadSweden GPMucci is not going to talk about this problem, it would not be good for the sale. You can ignore this problem, but it exists. I wish you not to have an unfavorable result. After several falls on rocks or large pebbles you will come to the crash bar. It is not a question of driving style. But good for it. See you soon

    • @gpmucci7508
      @gpmucci7508 3 роки тому

      Ciao. I don't always check the comments, We have no problem with the heat. Zero. The sump guard has been designed to channel as much air as possible around the engine. Regarding link protection, we used several T7s quite hard without any problems. In the paracoppa we put a sled that tends to make obstacles slide in proximity to the leverage, but we didn't make it very hard because it must be able to bend. Full linkage protection could be very counterproductive and a mistakes as I wrote many times. As for being too enveloping I can say that it is the opposite, it is not. It is away from the engine and is in fact more in front of the engine than on the sides.
      For the crankcases we are studying a solution that is not horrible and currently there are plastic protections on the market that are not bad. Of course we could have made a condom guard that ruined the line of the bike to protect it but did it make sense?

      Yeah you do . Now it's holding me up on putting my crash bars on it . Looks like that bash plate might interfere with some types of crash bars but it's hard to tell .
      On some accessories I have each item on a different webpage and have to go back and forth seeing if there's any issues that might be a problem with whatever I am trying to do . Once I make a decision on one thing then I have to know what will work with it , shipping these things back isn't cheap if they don't work . Oh it looks really good on your bike . And like others commenting I would just put some kind of screen behind or in front of those openings .

      That's good to know , thanks . I like this bash plate better than Touratechs one that covers everything , that one has no venting . First off I have to see if Touratechs crash bars will even fit because I had to return the Outback Motortek ones because they just wouldn't go on , the main engine bolt just wouldn't seat and it was a nightmare trying to get the other peices to go together . I learned about tolerance stacking and my Tenere is quite stacked !

    A very impractical solution. mud and stones will remain behind the engine cover. The engine itself is very hot and since I often drive to the southern states, where temperatures exceed 30 degrees. so I would melt the engine there. I'm probably the only one who doesn't like it.

      We tested a lot, it’s the opposite, the engine remain more clean than with the little and standard. Temperature is not a problem, and it was one of the primary target. But if you don’t like it’s perfectly ok! ❤️
