Eden of the East is pretty interesting! I watched it years ago so I don't remember how it ends, but it had a lot of unique parts to it and had me wondering where it was going to go. I love the opening song.
Eden of the East, nice. Completely forgot Oasis did the op for that. I remember the first few episodes being pretty wild with the setup, but not much else and never finished it. For ops your dad may like; Cyberpunk Edgerunners op has Franz Ferdinand. Serial Experiments lain op by Bôa. And not anime, but the Guilty Gear Strive op and the character themes as well. That whole game and ost has inspirations from several bands.

Yes, jojo does make a lot of references to music and classic horror movies, but the phrase comes from the fact that hundreds of other anime, video games, manga, memes etc took/take influence from jojo. Examples include Street Fighter, Yu-Gi-Oh, Persona, Hunter x Hunter, Tekken, King of Fighters, Castlevania. If you get familiar with the show, you will start to spot all of the obvious references to Jojo in other media, hence the phrase.
