- We primarily take a tour of part of the Red Lune out of Union Station up to Forest Glen which is the deepest subway station. In the USA.  We see lots of the new Kawasaki cars in addition to the many 1980’s built Breda cars. The latter cars will be around until around 2025 or so when they start taking delivery of the new 8000 series Hitachi cars. In addition to Metro trains, we also see a couple of CSX trains, including a huge M-216. Enjoy this brief tour of one of the more flashy subway systems in the USA.
I know this guy who told Mr. Tim to expand his horizons instead of making 50 SEPTA Silverliner V videos in a row. Mr. Tim heeded his advice and made this cool video of America’s most futuristic mass transit system. Judging by the amount of likes, many people enjoyed this video.
Don’t think for one moment that I won’t go back to the Silverliner V’s. This was a nice break.
That shot at silver spring reminded me of back in the day when half the trains terminated at silver spring on the way home from daycare I would go to the front of the platform and watch the train turn around until we continued to forest glen.
I love how you showed the Forest Glenn elevators! That whole station is impressive. Great video from the trains to the station and the elevators!
Tim, Don't forget that Baltimore has a subway too, as well as the light rail system.
This is my home and the VRE and METRO are my local trains thank you so much! I also the vid where you went right pass my house on the mannases line.
The MTA's, "M" subway line starts and ends pretty close to one another.

My workplace was located near the Branch Ave Station of the Green line. When that line opened in 2001, I rode it for 5 years before retiring, commuting from Reston, VA via bus to Falls Church West on the Orange Line, transfer at L’Enfant Plaza to the Green line. Beat driving the Beltway and Dulles Toll Road. In 2016 flew back to DCA, took the Blue line to Rosslyn, and rode the Silver Line to Reston.
OBTW grew up in Dumont, NJ now on the CSX River line. Grew up taking West Shore NYC commuters to Weehawken, riding the ferry to 42nd Street on visits to my Dad’s dentist between 5th and 6th Ave, overlooking Bryant Park and the Lions outside the Library

I used to live in Arlington, worked in Silver Spring. Orange Line-Ballston to Red Line-Silver Spring, transfer at Metro Center. The system has expanded lots since then.
I think the 8000 series will be in service starting 2027
13:20 That isn’t a 2000-series or 3000-series train from Breda, that is a 6000-series train. Those were built by Alstom

The 2000 Series is retired now! A fond farewell! Which means you won’t see it anymore
I can remember a few years ago I was staying in a hotel room along the CSX main outside of DC in Virginia. Around 2 or 3 am, the Tropicana train rolled up from Florida toward NY. I'm sure it woke up everybody on that side of the hotel. Man, that thing was loud and never ended!
Those 7000 Series traction motors sound a lot more “convincing” than those whiney Breda/Alstoms.

I used to ride the red line to Rockville and go to the Roy Rogers, eat and watch metra, Marc and csx trains from there

Couldn’t tell you. I may go to San Diego next summer and may Amtrak up to Fullerton one day to spend the day.
I've ridden the Washington Metro many times. Red line, Yellow Line and Blue Line. Spiffy stations, nice speed, good looking trains.
