Classical Piano Rarities 🎹 Fabulous performance. Thank you for this upload. Could you please tell me for which Recording company the 1954 recording was made for. Arrau changed from American Columbia to American Decca 1954 . Do you think it will published some day??? It would be a new piece in the Arrau discography.
Classical Piano Rarities 🎹 Thank you for the information. I wrote a wrong information to you yesterday, sorry. Arrau changed from Columbia to Decca already 1952 .

Another recording from 1954 exists, with different timing than this one. Perhaps I’ll go down to the NYPL archives and see if they might provide a copy. I’m betting that this 1961 performance is dated properly. Liszt Totentanz, for piano and orchestra [Likely Thomas Scherman conducting] Little Orchestra Society New York, live, 04.01.1954 16’15"
Michael-do you mean the music library at lincoln center.and if yes-i don't think they make copies.they want you to know they have it but you will never hear it
@@ClassicalPianoRarities It is honestly hard to say for me- I only listened to it once, at the library. I was in shock- it was also a discovery for me that this recording existed at all. His playing was so driven and so terrific, that I do remember. A truly great artist.

13:34 / 13:51 Arrau's scales are simply perfect! No pianist plays so clearly!

He needed to perform this kind of works from time to time, just to reassure he was the best and kick some asses, haha
After listening to this performance I'm ready to repent! Thank you for the post.
