That's what words are, after all. It's a matter of time before the various dictionary people decide that a new phrase has been coined into the lexicon, and dooblydoo means expandable description box.

@@dementiasorrow It may be different in the sense that we have a clear record of its coinage. honestly, I find this really interesting because as a neurodiverse person, I've cultivated a very specific affect that I use with people- I'm a lot less direct, I dial-up approachableness, make sure I come across as warm and bubbly. But I don't need to be that person, that person is just an easy person to be in groups of relative strangers or neurotypical co-workers. I often get people getting a very different initial read from me because this affect is designed to mask my disability.
I wonder how well you'd have played the role of Eve in the 1999 'The Mummy' - the librarian girl learning to kick serious ass over the course of the movies? That thought is probably muddled by knowing that you are trained in film / stage combat...
I see you being a hero (fantasy or super) that is also teaching a younger hero (maybe your own children who knows) how to be a hero. Granted I’ve seen a few of your videos so that is probably helping. I also see you being a bad butt bookworm (sorry I’m not a big fan of swearing) or if not an actual mother, a team mum for your found family team mates (maybe even being said teams leader or second in command).
Full swing into my 'fracta pars tarso' binge watch, I have to say your 'prissy lady in the black dress' from SYL episode 18 (3:00 in) was awesome. Definitely gave me a laugh within context of the video, but very convincing had it been stand-alone. Can we get a monologue done with that character?
This seems like useful information for anyone. People should know how they come across. I should get more data about how I come across. What a clever idea.
I've been watching a lot of your videos since I saw you do one with Tom Scott but my initial reaction was to your hair and build which told me 'Celtic, probably Scottish' (I know that you are actually Irish but I'm trying to remember my initial reaction). Obviously I saw you stage fighting from the get go, so my reaction to your profession/personality type was never unvarnished. In fact I was pleasantly surprised, subsequently, by how literary you are - but the original context is probably what biased my first impression. Anyhow, thanks for the videos which are entertaining and interesting.
To be honest here, this was a very interesting video. And the more I watch your videos and shorts I'm pleasantly surprised just how often your taken me down memory lane and the kinds of groups I've hanged out with in the past. Not to mention how much I enjoyed that time of life. Now if I was truly honest when I saw your pics and silent video my first impression was "I want her for a wife!" However once that thought passed and started embracing the exercise I could see alot of your assessment just were I differ is because of my life experience I couldn't see you as Bit@hy(Now I could see Strong or assertive), Nor an addict (Maybe because of your build and pale skin tone I might see eating disorder)
I was thinking about taking a picture and starting a survey, but I just started a diet a month ago (I've lost 18 lbs but still have about 240 lbs to lose before my goal). Would you recommended waiting until I've lost some more so all the comments aren't about me being fat, or should I go ahead and do one now, then one when I'm partway done, then when I'm at my goal weight and see what difference there is in the responses.
I think more data is always good. And some of the responses you get will be different as your weight changes, but it's really good to know which of them you get regardless of size, as they're your really core ones.
While it's clear that some people are just the type we associate with certain things, it's nice to see when someone breaks the mold. For example when the archetypical bad guy plays the hero. Peter Dinklage as evil scientist-guy in one of the X-men movies... ...or when Sean Bean doesn't die... And not to forget the transition of Walther Koenig from young genius aboard the Enterprise - to Alfred Bester in Babylon 5...
What I think is interesting is what a different impression is given based on how you wear your hair. I don't recall seeing your hair out of a braid before, so seeing it at the end was was rather startling (not in a bad way).
I've like all of your videos. Not so much this one, and not because I think what you've created/shared here is bad. Let me explain. Casting type is very dependent on the biases of the people who respond to this. Unfortunately, our industry has a really limited number of people "deciding" what your type is, and even more unfortunately, they rarely check their biases. So, what I'm saying is this. This is a really cool experiment. The trends you experience are probably true for casting directors, but I think how it doesn't help, is it can subconsciously tell you what roles not to go for, because "you don't fit that type". I think ultimately, that limits you as an actor. I'm not sure it's the best way to build your craft. I was told by dozens of people that I should play Indonesian, or South East Asian. As an actually South Asian, I can tell you, I really should not.
agree like i never liked the whole “how to find you type as an actor” thing bc it’s like putting yourself in boxes and saying u can only play those specific roles
I've never done a survey, but people have volunteered information. I got gang leader more than once and recently hitman. I must have resting thug face.
I couldn't see you as a police officer but as for what most people assume and what I seen in acting yes. Rest are spot on when I saw first impressions. I didn't do this directly but I already know the common adjectives I get from strangers. Similar to yours. Funny part is I would assume as an actor no one would type cast me as my current profession.
Thank you for sharing this. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 I find it amusing that in the one photo where nobody thinks you look like drug addict, you look rather high (or Mr. Bean high lol)
Great video! Summary of your results: "Every genre needs a pet geek girl" ah, bah. Hmm. But if you know 'geek girls' (not that I agree with this term) they (EDIT: well, many) can turn their hand to plumbing (depending on how and whether dyspraxia, autoimmune or connective tissue disorders, other neurodivergent conditions, plus sexism, ableism, anxiety and confidence may affect things) - it's just people probably think of Mario and Luigi and their human equivalents, because the 'sweetspot' for *the role* is affected by societal biases... and Nintendo. But the right casting director could possibly put you in that type of role anyway, especially if they saw this!? Anyway, slightly jealous, of that vibe, I'm not sure if I'm obviously anything to anyone. Although I think I'm a nonbinary bisexual person who looks quite like a lesbian. Sadder note, I'm not sure if that was a dig at Elliot Page and trans nonbinary in general!? To include them from before he updated his look and came out gender-wise!? When they came out as lesbian/attracted to women they had noted that it was something they'd avoided before afraid of being typecast, but something about the roles he had already been cast for seemed to hint at the vibe. When they came out it was hard for me for a few days as I had my femme side/vibe pegged to him somehow through that, although I have never seen any of their work properly, just clips and film posters. It's funny how any kind of gender performance variance - if you're not a cookie cutter femme or masc type, whatever that is and whether people pick that out can be so subtle I feel - it can come with a sweetspot of other people's baggage. A veritable plumber's bag of it! But not necessarily as useful, because how well that sort of character is written and how specific a fit it is can vary a lot. Like the gay neighbour in "it's so romantic" plays about with. And it's something worth noting that identity conscious casting is becoming more of a thing, a demand from the viewing public. And from identities marginalised in the acting community. Audience with marginalised identity is what I am really. Just might think about acting sometimes. And I'm a bit too variously neurodiverse and addled I my mental health to cope with much as it is. Ah, me. Anyway wishing you the best and hoping for a positive response re Eliot Page. I understand that this video might be old, I didn't check the date or description for any notes on this. And you don't have to respond directly, this video has a lot of comments so I could just melt into a background sea of all-comers.
Serious Pic: Serious dominates, so could be professional or working class (so long as not too physical, face is too "unweathered"). probably skews more professional Video: Suggests seen-some-$hit, so either seen-some-$hit/broken (drug addict), or seen-some-$hit/now-resilient. Could be any profession. (FYI: Profile in video is striking, quite pretty) Smiley Pic: Psychopath, definitely psychopath. Maybe criminal mastermind, maybe serial killer. _Go on, I just made the tea. Bottom's up. Why are you looking at me like that? I'm your friend._
Ah but then you have my problem, in real life I look extremely different from who I actually am. It changes when I talk but but it has lead to me being underestimated over and over again. Good job I never wanted to be an actor. Though when I think about Natasha Romanov I have obviously missed my calling as a character in a superhero movie franchise 😀
Well I didn't know and still don't really care about casting type. I was actually hoping for a bit more colourful of a response from the world at large and your justifiably indignant but hilariously sarcastic response. Although now that you've explained it I wonder if you might get more input on both your range and core attributes with less flattering media. If a simple lighting change can make you a drug addict, the candid snap that you *definitely* didn't allow to make it to facebook might make you a whole different person. Also I think you should try auditioning for roles as a tall black man with a French accent, or maybe a little Chinese boy. You never succeed if you don't try.
I personally wouldn't mind seeing you in a period drama where there's swordfighting involved. Maybe you can be a teacher with a handy blade kept under her desk for when the conflict happens LOL I don't think I have a casting type, aside from perhaps 'intimidating'. People seem to be intimidated by me IRL, I think because I'm a sizeable (tall and wide) woman with a weird face. Maybe I could be the 'vaguely ethnic female bouncer' at the drag club LOL
Where can I find these surveys to fill out other people. (I am a person on the internet and enjoy judging others). Just kidding (mostly) ... it actually sounds kind of like people watching, but in a way that's useful.
I am, apparently, terrifying and off-putting. I am also an INTJ and prefer not to speak, but I watch everything. I also have an extremely strict moral code. So I guess I'm the one that everyone thinks is the villain but am actually working in secret against the villain. Or maybe I'm a nun. (Except that I'm, you know, also a mother.)

OK google survey would not let me publish mine, because it said it was basically inappropriate for me to ask people what they thought of a person based on a picture. For real, they said that, and they gave me no opportunity to explain lmao.
I mean I know you know, and I know you've told us, but ethnicity wise you can definitely pass for Irish or Scottish totally convincingly to people only a few degrees latitude to the south
I've been told that I have a rather cold and bitchy vibe by people who later became my friends and admitted they were surprised I was actually a rather warm person.
I have literally had people say this exact thing to me. There was someone who I had to apologize to in college cause she apparently seriously thought I hated her or she did something to offend me. In actuality it's very difficult to offend me, I just am very nervous in conversation, and I guess to a lot of people that comes accross as distain/dislike. It's a good thing to know about yourself though. And since then I've been able to work on my conversational skills, so as far as I can tell people don't think I'm just incredibly spiteful anymore, so that's good. Oh, the other things I've been told is that people thought I was haughty or "preppy". Although, that was quite a few years ago, so I'm not so sure if it still applies.
Hm. I'm seeing a mid-tier made-for-tv sci-fi drama, honestly. Something on ScyFy, filmed in Canada, for a middling budget in the mid-2000's, that managed to get a bit of a cult following before being cancelled after 2 seasons.
We just need to cast Jill in a period mystery as a well-read mother who leads a epistolary double life as a male natural philosopher no-one has actually met (this being a period drama in which few men would take a mother seriously no matter how intelligent she actually is) while solving crimes that occasionally involve combat with criminals and henchmen.

You can join groups e.g. on facebook where people (mostly college students) share their surveys and forms for research and help each other by completing each other's forms (like Thesis / Survey Questionnaire Filling Group). What I meant was that in this case, Dooblydoo is a word made up by a known youtuber and it cought on within the community. It is more like a jargon or a slang than a General English word. It has meaning within UA-cam. It might be used outside in other platforms it might even become ubiquitous but unlike most words it is Made up and we know who did it.
@@dementiasorrow It may be different in the sense that we have a clear record of its coinage. You're also right, most "new words" follow at least some rule of language, but some are still just novel assemblies of sounds. If you push the concept to the extreme, though... all words began as just an agreed set of grunts.
honestly, I find this really interesting because as a neurodiverse person, I've cultivated a very specific affect that I use with people- I'm a lot less direct, I dial-up approachableness, make sure I come across as warm and bubbly. But I don't need to be that person, that person is just an easy person to be in groups of relative strangers or neurotypical co-workers. I often get people getting a very different initial read from me because this affect is designed to mask my disability.
Fun! I didn’t know that this was even a thing people did for researching their personas. I learned something! Great video!
I remember we talked about this in the summer! I'm still curious but much too afraid to actually set one of these up!
Doooo iiiiiitttt 😁😁😁😁
But I clicked because I wanted to hear about what people thought *your* casting type was... and I did, so quest for knowledge fulfilled!
You Said doobleydoo, getting some Colville vibes here. 👏👏
I predict you being in a live-action Fallout 4 movie because you're good with melee, you have red hair, and you've gone by "Cait" in certain videos.
0:44 I felt that. Yeah you caught me, I did just click the video because it had your face on it
I feel you've just discovered a need for a subreddit where people post their type surveys
0:43 AAAAHHH You GOT ME... >.<
1:01 My casting type is Side-arm and Spinner-lure
Damn I'm so glad I found this channel
I was thinking about taking a picture and starting a survey, but I just started a diet a month ago (I've lost 18 lbs but still have about 240 lbs to lose before my goal). Would you recommended waiting until I've lost some more so all the comments aren't about me being fat, or should I go ahead and do one now, then one when I'm partway done, then when I'm at my goal weight and see what difference there is in the responses.
I think more data is always good. And some of the responses you get will be different as your weight changes, but it's really good to know which of them you get regardless of size, as they're your really core ones.
My problem is that I'm fat and disabled, so I kinda already know what people are gonna say
Jill Bearup: Galaxy Police Knight-Investigatrix!
What I think is interesting is what a different impression is given based on how you wear your hair. I don't recall seeing your hair out of a braid before, so seeing it at the end was was rather startling (not in a bad way).
My guess (from my exposure to your channel) is you are a non-stereotyped Hedi Lamar, with a lot more thought.
Anyone else getting John Green vibes (in a good way)?
The word "duebly-do" gives her away
she reminds me of hank green, but a movie/theatre nerd instead of a science nerd from her videos
I thought I was going t learn if I was a divine or arcane and prepared or spontaneous caster.
Happy to see a UA-camr (whom I didn't find through Nerdfighteria) call it "the dooblydoo".
I've never done a survey, but people have volunteered information. I got gang leader more than once and recently hitman. I must have resting thug face.
Nice to see a fellow bad guy. I get "Chechen warrior" and "Mexican drug dealer" depending on my hair and beard style.
Great job putting this together!
Thanks 😁
Mine is "cool dude with trenchcoat and a sword, possibly a changeling"
Thank you for sharing this. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 I find it amusing that in the one photo where nobody thinks you look like drug addict, you look rather high (or Mr. Bean high lol)
Great video! Summary of your results: "Every genre needs a pet geek girl" ah, bah. Hmm. But if you know 'geek girls' (not that I agree with this term) they (EDIT: well, many) can turn their hand to plumbing (depending on how and whether dyspraxia, autoimmune or connective tissue disorders, other neurodivergent conditions, plus sexism, ableism, anxiety and confidence may affect things) -
it's just people probably think of Mario and Luigi and their human equivalents, because the 'sweetspot' for *the role* is affected by societal biases... and Nintendo.
When they came out it was hard for me for a few days as I had my femme
side/vibe pegged to him somehow through that, although I have never seen any of their work properly, just clips and film posters.
Serious Pic: Serious dominates, so could be professional or working class (so long as not too physical, face is too "unweathered"). probably skews more professional
Video: Suggests seen-some-$hit, so either seen-some-$hit/broken (drug addict), or seen-some-$hit/now-resilient. Could be any profession. (FYI: Profile in video is striking, quite pretty)
Smiley Pic: Psychopath, definitely psychopath.
I got told I am an intelligent, educated feminist who had a wild youth.
#goals!

I've always imagined myself as an "Unsinkable Molly Brown" type. How fascinating that I could just ask a bunch of strangers...
I always get clever college student, in the arts, or sciences.18-27 ish as average
They just want to watch they favorite genre (fantasy, sci-fi etc.) with you in the cast.
Easy. First person I think every time I see your face or hear your voice is John Green...
I personally wouldn't mind seeing you in a period drama where there's swordfighting involved. Maybe you can be a teacher with a handy blade kept under her desk for when the conflict happens LOL
I don't think I have a casting type, aside from perhaps 'intimidating'. People seem to be intimidated by me IRL, I think because I'm a sizeable (tall and wide) woman with a weird face. Maybe I could be the 'vaguely ethnic female bouncer' at the drag club LOL
Interesting. Thanks for the info.
Don't you think there are various characters who are constants (fix points ;) ) across the different genres (?) you listed?
Where can I find these surveys to fill out other people. (I am a person on the internet and enjoy judging others). Just kidding (mostly) ... it actually sounds kind of like people watching, but in a way that's useful.
There are several posted in the replies to the pinned comment :)

I would like to try this, however all I have at this time would be a still or video from my phone.
You DO look like a really nice high school teacher ! 😊 Also :...wait... You lived in Germany? Where?!
But I have ALL the data.
I thought this was going to be a DnD video!!!! 🤣
I thought the same
Dr. Bearup, Medicine Woman... I'd watch it.
I always got type cast as old women or old men, even when I was a teenager

Interesting xD So would German be an accepted language in the comments? Just curious.
I would like to know that too
Other people read the comments too, so I recommend sticking to English unless you really can't express yourself good enough.
In that case I recommend practice or deepl.com (a very good ai based translator)
@@sebastianjost Maybe some of the other people who read the comments are also Germans, tho
@@samiraansari5686 but you don't want to limit your audience to just those, do you?

Weren’t you in Downtown Abbey? lol
You should play Moria Mctaggart in the MCU
Early to mid twenties, possible witch (think Mildred Hubble)
OK google survey would not let me publish mine, because it said it was basically inappropriate for me to ask people what they thought of a person based on a picture. For real, they said that, and they gave me no opportunity to explain lmao.
Oh, Google…
I mean I know you know, and I know you've told us, but ethnicity wise you can definitely pass for Irish or Scottish totally convincingly to people only a few degrees latitude to the south
Ugh, my vibe is teenage-healer-waif-sweetie-honey-doe-eyed-innocent derp
You didnt get "mad scientist"? I think they underrated you. :)
I could easily see her in a cop procedural.
Omg you referenced the MBTI personality types!!! 😍😍
Which type are you? Please tell us, pleaseeeee🥺🥺
Oddly enough I never met a plumber who actually looked like a plumber.
Stop it YT! stop! of course i wanna see this lovely nerdy pink lady, of course i wan to!, but i only have so many hours per day!. *sigh.
Cheers thanks for your channel.
In my opinion Jill Bearup for DC roles:
Possible Major and Minor Roles: For Batman Poison Ivy, Batgirl/Oracle, Dr. Leslie Thompson,
Arkham Asylum psychairtrist. (Sorry you look too tall to be Harley) GCPD detective,
Superman: Mercy Graves the bodyguard and secretary of Lex Luther, Lab worker or scientist.
Wonder Woman: Cheetah Barbara Minerva, Artemis, or one of the amazons.
The Flash: Possibly Jessie Quick.
This is so interesting
Mine is the lost in space thing or that man everyone knows that takes care of things will people have there way that know one knows. I think in Hollywood it's called and extra. Bla ha ha ha :)

You can join groups e.g. on facebook where people (mostly college students) share their surveys and forms for research and help each other by completing each other's forms (like Thesis / Survey Questionnaire Filling Group). It's usually only 1 demographic (young adults), but it's still a useful platform.
