I understand what you are saying Jess, but please don't view Jamaica as a country which needs sympathy. Jamaica is a developing nation so lets leave the antoquaited terms like 3rd world out of any conversation when discussing Jamaica.
This island in the Caribbean has produced some of the brightest, talented and most gifted individuals because of the strength and the richness in character of it's people. Wherever Jamaicans live whether at home or abroad they impact that country and the community they live.
There are top actors, celebrities, intellects and social activist who are of Jamaican decent.
Jamaicans are leaders and not followers so however the ignorant people in this world want to portray our beautiful island it has no impact on the pride of Jamaicans because
    Jamaica's legacy is boundless.
What other small country has had such an impact on the world?
I can't think of any with such accomplishments on the global stage as Jamaica.
Jamaicans are proud of our island and nothing can change that.
The simple things like the richness of culture and music amongst other things is why so many people around the world are drawn to Jamaica and have been coming in large numbers for decades.
Yes, there is a serious problem with poverty and violence that must be addressed but these issues are global and can be found in every country around the world. The only critique that I have of your content is the complete lack or portrayal of the uptown and country life in Jamaica. Because you sometimes feed into the narrative of Jamaica being poverty stricken whilst there are many people living a comfortable life and they are not rich or poor but are comfortable living inbetween.
Jess, my advice to you would be to go home see your family then come back and continue to portray the positives about Jamaica and your work will be done.
Who knows, your family may even develop the same love for Jamaica that you frequently show and talk about.
Remember, Jamaica maybe 'likkle but we tallawah'

@@dee2973 Many in the so called diaspora feel a false sense of security while bashing Jamaica based only on what the biased media put out about it. Many of the problems in Jamaica are among small sections of some communities who have arguments with each other or who come from families with criminals. You idiots love everyone, for you are too blind to see people for who they are. She has belittled the people of Jamaica and talked down on the culture, yet you overlook all of that and declare your love for her. What is wrong with you people? Why are you so blind and naive? What she is saying about Jamaica being taken advantage of by others is true, but she forgot to include herself in that group. Jamaica is a target because of idiots like you. You and many love to embrace foreigners and not look into who these people are. There are so many doctors from across the globe who cannot practice in their own countries because they are not qualified. But that does not stop them because they know they can go to Jamaica to be embraced by the idiotic Jamaicans and practice without a license. Idiots like you and many others embrace these people and LOVE them without researching to see who they are.

Jess, your home is where your soul finds peace. I remember visiting Jamaica in 2003, an experience you mentioned in one of your earlier posts. Like you, I fell in love with the place , travel to Island, and visited several times. I haven't been back since on 20 years, but it's been a goal of mine to return one day. Life in the UK couldn't be more different from what brings me tranquility. As I approach my 50th birthday this year, I'm determined to make my goal a reality.
Remember, your heart will guide you to what's right for you when the time is right. Don't let others' opinions sway you. including family . Any uncertainties you're experiencing is natural. I'm planning a return this summer, with hopes of starting a business. The opportunities in Jamaica for a fulfilling life are endless.
Remember, Jess, everything has its time and place. Trust in your judgment, keep up the fantastic work, stay safe, and most importantly, have fun!

Kingston is Jamaica's largest city, so it tends to have a higher concentration of celebrities and wealthy people. And more prevalent classism than in other areas. I hope you can explore all 14 parishes in Jamaica, as each one offers a unique experience with distinct accents and lifestyles. I grew up in the rural part of St. Ann, and as a dark-skinned person, I never faced classism or racism.
Adding to your point about beauty standards, Jamaica is quite diverse. Jamaican men generally appreciate women of all shapes and sizes. Many prefer "fluffy" women, and it's common for men to be attracted to women with a bit more weight, though skinnier girls are also appreciated. Classism seems more pronounced among women, especially those with lighter skin from "Uptown" areas, who might sometimes consider themselves superior.

Poverty is everywhere, Jess, even inthe richest countries in the world, the United Kingdom and the US. I was born in the UK and have also lived in the US. Homelessness and Poverty is rife in both of these countries because of poor government policies and maybe peoples bad decisions. Putting things in perspective, being cold and homeless in these countries is the pits especially in the height of winter where people make up their beds inside a Walmart carpark or a shop doorway and wait in line for a food parcel if they are lucky. In Jamaica, the country is blessed in that you can sleep under the stars and pick something from a tree or fall to the ground and it can sustain you. If someone chooses to eat one's leftovers, then that truly is a mental issue. Blessings to you, Jess - just take care of yourself so that one day you will be able to take care of others. God has a plan for you. ❤❤❤

This is what happens when they come to Jamaica. Jamaicans live all over the world and most of them are homesick and cant come often. The UA-camrs will come here show us and them places in our own country that we didnt know exist {because we cant afford to get around like they do}, they stroke our egos, we support them big time because we are like that. Some of the countries that Jamaicans live in, pay a lot of money for ads etc on UA-cam that the UA-camrs benefit from big time. In other words they earn a lot of money via the support of the Jamaican Diaspora. That is why they are flocking here, Those who cant get here just mention Jamaica on their thumbnails and they too benefit big time.

Pay no attention to the haters, you have pure intentions and what you are doing and saying will have a positive effect, in a small way at first, but it will grow eventually. What you can do is link up with like minded youtubers to expedite your goal of spreading the good news about Jamaica. May I suggest that you try to make contact with Irina from 'Jamaica with Irie,' then you will get the attention of the right people. May I also suggest that you try not to be a participant in any activity that maybe unlawful, like the dangerous and unlawful 'skating,' as it maybe counter-productive to your heartfelt purpose. Keep up the excellent work and God bless you as you bless Jamaica.

The video that you mentioned does indeed expose some of negative conditions that many of our people live in.

Watching this last video and others made me emotional. As a male growing up in Jamaica, showing emotion and feelings was not normal. Then now seeing you physically and emotionally take notice of the pain and hardness engraved in the Jamaican culture as something to be analyzed and cared for made me realize that these things can be improved through care and attention. I have lived abroad about half my life now and I have prayed for a healed Jamaica. Through your beautiful vlogs I can see now that Jamaica can be healed and cured of its pain and stigmas.
    Thank you.

Your Dad loves you and wants the best for you. You need to have a balance where you can do the things you desire to do and being close to your loved ones at the same time. Don't ever take being separated from your loved ones for granted because life does not promise them being around forever. Here today but gone tomorrow.
Secondly, don't fall into the trap where you spend too much time pursuing a free-spirited lifestyle that when you get older, there is no foundation to make you secure.
Thirdly. It's nice to know that you have a heart for Jamaica and that you want to help where you can, but many times, good intentions are taking advantage of so be wise.

Beautiful Soul is the description many commentators have given you and that's what you are. This is my first time stumbling across your channel and I just had to do everything(like subscribe etc.). You are real. I love your curiosity and your openness about how you feel and I feel this connection as a viewer I've never felt with any UA-camr. It feels like you acknowledge our existence and we're like a family. #1 UA-camr I have nothing else to say keep being authentic and doing you. INCREDIBLE❤💋🫂

  • @howard665

You are correct. UA-camrs from abroad, in plying their trade, are apparently reaping a ton from local content and not seeming to giving anything back to the communities from which they've benefitted, and which, ironically, comprised mostly locals who are largely identified among the lesser educated.

Jess, you are a beautiful person with a heart of gold. You are in your self discovery stage of your life which is a long journey. You’re trying to find your purpose and I think you are realizing that you want to make the world a better place and make a difference. Your dad will hopefully understand that your happiness is most important. Since you can’t work there yet, perhaps try doing some volunteer work with environmental groups or a school or community to help farm or build something. You don’t necessarily have to showcase it. Sometimes just move and do good in the Jamaica in silence. Don’t get too caught up in what people say negatively. The never ending loop of people talking about problems in Jamaica but never actively doing anything to change the situation is not helping the country. You also can’t solve all these problems. Do one small thing at a time that could make a huge impact. It would also give you a better balance. As a Jamaican, I support you bringing issues to the forefront but also helping to find solutions. One love 🇯🇲

I thought the same thing too. Your government should impose a small tax on content creators. They would have to declare that they are there to do content at the airport, before they're allowed entry into Jamaica. A small tax of $100.00 for a period of one week would not hurt those content creators that are broadcasting all types of images for their own profit. On the other hand, all publicity is good publicity. Jamaica benefits from all the attention that is being brought about by UA-camrs.

Ciao Jess! It's hard to be far from family, especially when you have a wonderful relationship with them. But the things you said, 'Jamaica is like home,' are so powerful. So beautiful and powerful. You found your happy place, the happy place for the 'you' now. One day it might change, or it might not, but just enjoy it now that you have this feeling. Regarding the second part of this video, honestly, I don't even want to see the video of this guy! I can only imagine what he said. I love your channel because it shows all these beautiful things with locals, so please don't waste your energy on something that he has done. You're doing a wonderful, wonderful job.
