18th Exposition of Sacred Relics of Saint Francis Xavier | Inaugural Ceremony | Goa |Gomantak Times

Thousands of devotees gathered at the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Old Goa as the sacred relics of St Francis Xavier were solemnly transported from the Basilica of Bom Jesus to the Se Cathedral. A human chain formed by the faithful added to the reverence of the occasion.
The procession, an integral part of the 18th Inaugural Exposition, was led by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrão, alongside priests, nuns, and lay members of the Catholic faith.
The inaugural Mass featured a stirring choir conducted by Fr Romero Monteiro, which guided attendees into a deeply prayerful atmosphere. The procession also included over 500 nuns, 700 priests, and bishops, with children dressed as angels leading the way by scattering flower petals in a symbolic tribute.
A brass band of over 100 musicians added a ceremonial and melodic touch, following the carriage from start to finish.
The event culminated with the human chain extending to the gates of the Se Cathedral, marking a profound moment of faith and unity among all present.
