She loves and trusts you, look at how dilated her eyes are! I also super enjoy both how she's turning and showing you where to go and the intense amount of pins you got off of her. I bet she was much more comfortable after this mega preen sesh. 😊

@@parishiltonASMR while you are right in certain situations, I believe that Athena's very happy. I'm taking the body language as a whole picture, like how fluffed up she is, as well as slowly turning her head to show the human where she wants to be preened next. She's also very quiet and leaning into the preening instead of running away. The human is also paying attention to her, especially when her more sensitive pins get hit.
But I love that you care for the cutie too!

@@parishiltonASMR she would be fussy if she was in fear or pain. The way she fluffs up and tilts her head to the side to give better access to the cheek area shows that she's enjoying it and trusts the human.

@@pinfeathersgalore she's adorable and we can see how much she trusts you! I have noticed her beak, especially at the tip is flaky. Looks exactly like my own budgie's beak, who has mild liver issues and psittacine beak and feather disease. It's very typical sign for both of those diseases, so if you haven't already, i think it's worth getting her checked by an avian vet. Athena's feathers look very healthy, so my guess is more on liver issues. This is in no way meant to be an attack, your birds are obviously very loved and taken great care of.

You can try to find a rounded wooden tweezers or one with soft rubber over the metal. Just to be sure. If a bird gets spooked there is a big risk of it getting hurt. I have been working with birds for over 15 years and unfortunately as I like to say it, with birds, the devil is just waiting for an opportunity, better to be extra safe. Edit: also to be clear I often used very soft grip tweezers that are used for picking up insects as you can not damage the feather with those even in a bird jerks during "preening", and they also come with rounded soft tips.

@@madisonscory1565 Try pet shops that sell reptiles. They have tweezers with blunt edges of various sizes. Even better if they are wooden / they have less strength than metal because wood bends easily, or if they are for picking up small insects like ants. These ones for small insects can't press hard at all and often have rubber points.

A few days ago, I got to use everything I've learned from your channel about pinfeathers, to help a baby mourning dove that left its nest too early. It absolutely loved being pampered and groomed by my small gentle tweezers. Unfortunately, as with most wild baby birds that get abandoned or lost, it didn't survive for long. We did our best with what we had, but it was injured too.. I'm just very very happy and humbled that I could give it one last long cuddle and pinfeather pampering before it passed away that night. Thank you so much for sharing these delightful little videos. They taught me a lot and have brought me real joy right in my arms.

Aww. Thank you for grooming that poor baby dove. Was it a nestling? Nestlings definitely need special care, and fledglings are usually fed and cared for by their mothers outside the nest:)

Oh my, that’s a lot of birdie dust for such a little bird. I wish my bird let me bring an implement near her!

Loooove the long version. I would love to see your preening work filmed by a professional camera full frame high res immense close up and on a tripod. I can see this channel grow over millions. Such a great job too again. Also quite liked the angle from the top of Athena’s head :D.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words!! I wish but alas it may take a while. It would be in my wildest dreams if this channel could take off! I mean, it is all about bird dander🤣 hehe
And it'll be a while until I can save up for a good camera!

@@pinfeathersgalore Reading this back a got a little over excited maybe haha. My real advice would be to not rush yourself too much. You’re on to something great and direction is more important than speed. I would though recommend to experiment with improvisong some kind of tripod so you’re angle is fixed. Easy way to do this is to just use common objects like chairs, a ladder, some books other heavy things.. best would be someone else to film it though I think so they can move with your and the bird’s movement. Anyways… only advice do what you want with it :)! I can’t wait to see more :D

I used to be so bad at this. I pulled too hard and hurt them. Its cool to see the budgies recieve this! Only my bigger birds let me groom them.

Soo satisfying! Do your budgies live in different cages and that’s why they don’t do each other’s pin feathers?

Great question! They live in one large flight cage, but the girls are too busy fighting each other, and bullying the boys🤣

Thank you, these videos are so oddly satisfying. Was Athena hand fed ? I don’t think I’ve ever had a budgie who would let me get near them with tweezers.

Thank you so much! She wasn't; I received her when she was probably 6-7 months old. But her personality is absolutely the sweetest and most tame out of all my budgies.
