I worked in a coal mine in Colorado for a year @ Mid Continent Coal & Coke. The mine was located in Red Stone Colorado and my 1st job was on production but couldn't handle the hard work so I went to the grave yard shift and became a Lime Stone Blower. In other words, I turned anything black, white. They gave me a black lung screening before I started the job but never mentioned it when I left.. I left because I had been sick and was put on 2 weeks bed rest. Two days before going back to work, a friend and I smoke smoked some marijuana and while I was coughing my ass off, I coughed up a big wad of black mucus! After not being in the mine for 11 to 12 days, that is what was in my lungs! I quit the following day... Wasn't a real bad job because I only work 5 hours a night. It took 30 minutes to get down on the man trip and and hour to walk to where the face was. That's an hour and a half going both ways. Good money at the time but hell on my health. The main reason I replied to this video is because it has nothing to do with working "in" a coal mine. This video is all about above ground or strip mining... The video "Under Ground Coal Mining" below this one is what working in a coal mine is all about...
You do realize they are in the mine right? you know the operators are the only ones actually mining? You couldn’t make it as one of us so have to bitch about being sick grow a pair and get to work.

Oh I have A comment . I was laid off from the only job I have ever had that I actually enjoyed . The coal mines in southwest Virginia are the safest place in the world . It's A dangerous job do not get me wrong . I only worked for A few years underground but the time I was underground I always felt safe . The only reason that I felt safe was the people . The best people I have ever met in my life . Hardest working , most intelligent , down to earth people you would ever meet . The mines that have been shut down in this area have devastated the economy . They just shut down A whole hospital In Lee county . The effects are on our jobs . Now there are a few large mines still open for NOW . But all of that coal goes to China , to support the steel industry that left the rust belt behind . I worked my butt off to get the best job of my life and then politicians threw it away for Fracking . I mean come on have you even looked into what kind of chemicals they are pumping into our ground water . These people do not care . They make their millions , billions and move to another country leaving us with out any jobs . Were drinking hydrochloric acid ...THEY....... Then say " Well it's good for the environment " ......are you freaking kidding me . Please people reading this spend a few moments of your time and look into fracking They say coal is bad ........it's not the environment they care about it's their buddies bank accounts that change the policies in this country . Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely .....................GodSpeed ...................... ....................The Cracken ................................................................
Just read that yet. Your still wright. Politics and manager's the same shit everywhere. Most of them are looking for their profit. That system not working for the normal people and also not take care. That's how it workes today. Globalisation and profit count's. Small and middlevsize company's got an ass kick - the big ones get their ass lick. Greatings from Germany
terrific vid, size of these machines! THEY ARE mind boggeningly GIANT! and quick!. i have just posted a video Alex Hodgson "Blantyre" A Scottish Mining Disaster Dedicated to miners from another era. Men,and young boys working in the most appaling cicumstances. Appreciate your comments.
Sorry! Yeah, it's hard to get good copyright free audio to use on the videos. Most of these clips either had wind noise or copyright music playing on the radio in the background. Thanks for watching!
Most miners never make 90k in my experience... as a heavy equipment operator... at least not in the states. Possibly a very skilled driller but thats about it besides a superintendent.
Awesome video. Definitely makes me smile.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks very much for the upload. It shows a wonderful array of machines thanks again.
Take care.
mrbluenun
Most of it goes to a Nova Scotia Power in Trenton about 5 or 6 miles from the mine.

Awsome video lots of different types machinery just a shame about the music
I love running scrapers

Accelerated 😢😢
On the other hand it's well edited, but I prefer normal speed...
Awesome vid!!
Takes a lot of oil to extract coal.
great video!
The loader is an L 950 Pit bull.
Would be OK without the dreadful added noise.
The wind noise was even worse. Using the free from copyright music does suck.
nice video man, I love the bulldozer
can i use some of this VDO on my presentation for Education?
WATTANAPON CHUMPHET nerd
none of this is in a coal mine, it's a coal strip not a hole in the side of a mountain you enter.

Too much jumping around for me, otherwise a good video.

Es wäre mal sehr nett Videos ohne diese schreckliche Musik zu zeigen.Die Motorengeräusche von den Fahrzeugen sind viel schöner anzuhören.

It's a shame because miners work in the most dangerous environments and in hazardous conditions in this video it shows machines doing the work
4:28 Here you can see a loader in it's natural habitat, a construction site.
M teacher says dropouts can get jobs from at mines and make 90k$ a year
She is trying to get rid of you
@@tonykramps420 This was 8 years ago buddy. I'm not even in school anymore, make helluva lot more than 90k (not in mines lol)
beat me to it haha
