Maybe you both didn’t see how many matches when to 18 hole and the American’s won……. If they loose a few of those matches, you could had a different story……it was entertainment for me to see
Time to cancel the President's Cup and replace it with an annual PGAT v. LIV match play event. That would so so much more compelling to watch and the bragging rights would be off the charts.
Look at liv players that should have been in that team and we might be having different conversation. Joaquin nieeman not in there is the biggest disgrace of them all.
@@jimiverson3085 I agree but the americans are deeper in my opinion. Guys like Spieth, Thomas, Horschel, Kirk, Glover, English are still better than alot of the guys on the international team.
A major difference is that in the RC, home team can set up the course to their advantage and can take advantage of visitors weaknesses. The PGAT set ups arent very challenging.
The USA has not won the Ryder Cup on foreign soil since 1993. Should the format change when the USA plays in Europe? It’s one sided right? Shouldn’t we want to change something to the format to make it easier for the US to win on foreign soil? Or should the USA just play better maybe.
Rex and Lav look at the score and the event is broke. It wasnt till 445pm EST that the cup was retained. USA needed the golfing gods to retain. The Internationals were a good team. There was a good hour where it looked like momentum might change. The USA divas benefited from this being a PGA tour event. They dont want LIV players to come back. Would Scottie Scheiffler be world #1 if they came back. NOPE. Would the Internationals wins? YES.
If the Ryder Cup is won by one team every time, then yes it would need changes as well. What makes the Ryder Cup great is that there is parity and the cup tends to go back and forth.
No, it was broken when the Americans won every single time against a Great Britain + Ireland team. Then it became all of Europe and the events became competitive. The Europeans became a real force when Ballesteros was pushing everyone on the team to be better. The American teams of the era didn't have someone like that and they still really don't.
@@xslash10xit’s not like the internationals never won. They have a win and a tie. Not to mention 2-3 they should have won but downright gagged it away; which happens all the time in golf.
I could have sworn that in one of the lead up Pods, Rex gloated that the average OWGR of the US Team was way ahead of the Internationals, now you’re saying the OWGRs were pretty well matched? Hmmm 🤔 Also, there was no greater floor wiping than Friday’s International clean sweep. As many people here have rightly pointed out, so many Sunday matches went to the wire and could have swung against the US. The next ‘home game’ for the Internationals is in my home town of Melbourne Australia (the city to have hosted the most Presidents Cups). I will be going, I just hope it’s a more compelling product by 2028
It is a pga tour event …maybe give them a head start. 28 points makes sense for consistency event to event. There is more parity than you make it out to be. The internationals swept a session with 5 matches/so 1o players. They have been close in recent memory. If they step up they can beat this American team. But they just haven’t done so. It is good to see Adam play his best ever in this event but he, Hideki, and conners don’t make enough putts for how awesome they are tee to green. To their credit they did have moments this week. Jason Days words this week about lacking motivation because other guys lacked motivation was honest, and we appreciate that, but I just wish he didn’t have that mentality to begin with. He really looked not super motivated at times this week. They definitely need to start by finding 12 self motivated cats to go up against these ‘Dawgs’. Obviously the internationals would benefit from LIv players more than the Americans. But Ultimately what this event needs IMHO is all the best players. The Ryder cup for a long time was one sided and it survived because it is a great camaraderie event and a chance for fans to see the best of the best in a refreshing format. But the best of the best is not the case now. IMO we need to get off this talk that the event is not good if a team has a long run of success and instead focus on the desperate need to have the true top 12 for each team.
i blame the Americans (esp. Jim, this year), for not creating a more fair environment. they care too much about winning, after being beaten by Europeans alot. this has to change. this is proving grounds and training time for guys like (Bhatia, Dunlap, C.Young, etc.), or how about Greyserman; he was in form? it serves two purposes, by bringing viewership to a competitive event, and a training grounds for potential future Ryder Cup players.
The fact that this was considered a 'home' event for the Internationals, and it was played in Canada, should tell you all you need to know about how much of a sham event this truly is. Is this really a 'home' event for the Australians, or the Koreans? They've been fooling us for decades that this is a great alternative to the Ryder Cup during off years, and we're just now complaining about it.
Exactly!! Look at the Presidents Cup that weren't played in North America at were close. 03- RSA, 15- South Korea, 19L Australia. The PGA Tour does a disservice to this event because they're the controlling body. There's should be input coming from the PGA Australia, and Sunshine Tour. Also these International hosting events need to be held in countries like Brazil, Columbia, Japan, Malaysia; time zone be damned.
Here’s what needs to change; the Internationals need to get better; if the aren’t good enough so be it; you don’t need to gimmick it up to try to make it better
What was not discussed is who runs the two different events. The Presidents Cup is run by the PGA Tour, so no LIV golfers. The Ryder Cup is jointly run by the PGA of America and Ryder Cup Europe. That's an important distinction. The Ryder Cup will have LIV golfers on both teams. They were remiss in not mentioning the possible inclusion of Brooks and Bryson on the U.S. Ryder Cup team and the implications from that.
What's interesting is that the European team didn't have any LIV players in 2023 - the European Tour wouldn't let them play. But before Rahm and Hatton went to LIV after that Ryder Cup, most of the Euros there were just looking to fatten up their retirements.
I only started watching when on the 2nd day the intl team mounted a comeback and players started throwing in their theatrics making things interesting and spicy. 3rd day was meh, and then the Americans had their way. Didn’t watch the last day, instead enjoyed the DP world tour final day.
You have an event that is not a true rivalry that's going up against the NFL. I have to believe the ratings for NBC were dismal As a Canadian, I knew that by midway through Saturday, this was a competition that had no drama and flipped to College Football. They should put this event on hiatus and try an international mixed team event because the International women can actually carry that team/
Seve an antagonist. I guess for Americans perhaps. But he is the man who elevated the status of Ryder cup. Without him and rest of European hero’s like Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam, Langer, Sam Torrance, Olazabal, Monty, …
It should’ve been even worse , but somehow the Americans got swept Friday , that shouldn’t have happened .. do people really think this is going to be fair 😂
You banned the players on the LIV Tour and wonder why it is non-competitive. Cameron Smith, Joaquin Niemann and Louis Oosthuizen wouldn't have made this more competitive. They aren't better than the three worst players on the International side. In addition, Dean Burmester, Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz won on the LIV Tour this year.
Are you guys Americans? Why wouldn’t you want the USA to win every time if they are better. Hey Lav do you want the SEC to change things, to pass some rules so Vanderbilt can better compete with Georgia?

Yeah, but with a 4 point advantage the US team didn't need all those matches to win. They just needed them to break more or less evenly, but they wound winning more than half. It was always uphill for the International team on Sunday.

Just here to read comments. 😊
Comments about Adam Scott and why he wants ti keep playing in this event are ridiculous… he is a competitor!!
It needs to be the Americas so the top 4 from Canada, top 4 from USA, and top 4 from South/ Central America vs the World
