- Ill be going over how we beat downriver run on alpha difficulty. Genesis 2 is full of alpha missions that can be complicated. Sometimes its nice just to get pointed in the right direction.

I finally beat this on alpha. My reward was a 118% crossbow and 78 stone arrows. If only I could use that to kill myself in-game.
The fact that this dude was also doing a reaper impregnation while doing the hardest race mission just proves that this dude is a legend

This mission is ridiculous in the amount of time given. On console it is near if not impossible due to accelerate being up on the joystick so you can not turn and accelerate at the same time. Unless you hook up a keyboard.

Ya its annoying. I prefer to use a controller if you can hook up a keyboard and mouse to beat this mission. Until they make accelerate a different button it cannot be beaten because you cannot accelerate and turn at the same time.
This the problem I'm having I can't for the life of me with a controller get to the drop off before 2:15
@@aaroncaudill8109 Until they make accelerate a button and not holding forward on the joystick this mission cannot be beaten with a controller. It is unfortunate.
If you have a keyboard and mouse you will just need to use them and disable the controller for the mission. Depending on the console this is easier said than done though. It would take 5 minutes or less of a devs time to change accelerate to a face button.

It's funny that the most slow paced race would be one of the hardest in genesis history
Ya its crazy. If there are any delays server lag and so on you fail. Even once you know the path and can nail it your chance of completing it is only about 80% it really jsut needs a little more time for pc and for console one of the face buttons needs to be accelerate so they can turn and paddle at the same time.

I'm glad it helped! Since you can not accelerate and turn at the same time on the controller this mission is pretty much impossible with controller.

Interesting i did this the exact same way you did expect the S turn i never thought of turning the boat all the way around like thst
Ya on the first S turn Nova likes to keep the boat facing the direction he needs to go allowing the water to pull him through. We had a few guys who thought it was faster to go through the last S turn backwards and complete the mission facing backwards. That first S turn is where most people lose the momentum and run out of time.

I'm with you. The amount of time and practice I needed to finish this mission just once was more than I like to put into racing. I enjoy Ark for its Ark-ness so the missions are something I dislike spending so much time on. My tribe mate who let me record him doing this run can only complete it about 80% of the time. Usually due to server issues. By following his path I am able to complete this mission it jsut took 10-12 hours of practice.

At the double boosts I always hit the one on the right.. I can never get the left side one without hitting something... but alas I finally got this.. I never ever thought to go backwards on that first S curve.. that saved me just enough time to finish it in the end. Thanks for that. Lol 298.086 was my time

Im on ps4 and i cannot get the canoe to stop turning to the side and then even backwards. I can't with this mission. I get stuck on the shore
if there is any lag the mission is horrible Not sure how it works with a PS controller but with an xbox controller the forward or up on the joystick is accelerate so you cannot turn while staying accelerated. Xbox requires a keyboard and mouse to bet the mission on alpha.

Yes there are very few points when you let off of W and mostly only if you have messed up and need to adjust. Since you cant turn well and hold forward on a controller this mission is unlikely to be completable with a controller for those that use controllers or consoles. The way I beat this was to get the first part down really well (until I hit 2:30 or better at the beginning of the waterfall) Then comes the S curve practicing. This is a pain and can take some time. I think it was about 12 hours of trying this mission before I completed in on Alpha.

my boat takes damage on the first s turn not touching anything. i legit back up and the damage meter goes down and if i slightly bump into something it destroys it.
Ya the mission needs a lot of work They dumped Gen 2 on us made some adjustments then just abandoned fixing it

this mission is what you get when you have devs that don't care about there game anymore, whoever at studio wildcard was responsible for this piece of trash should have been fired on the spot.
The time requirement is a little much and it needs to be fixed for game pad support

I beat it with 0 seconds left on the clock lol That was it for me after hours of trying I am not running it again either. I do not enjoy racing games and do not like being forced to do a game I do not enjoy. I like the other missions just not the race ones.

Just fyi, im on console. This mission is literally impossible on controller. If you are on console swap to mouse and keyboard. I beat it on the 5th try with mouse and keyboard.
Ya until they change the accelerate button away from the joystick this missing cannot be done with a controller.

@@diddykong7354 My thoughts were they are testing features they want to put into Ark 2 and wanted to see how it would go and maybe work out any bugs.
@@CamwayGaming i get wanting to try a linear story but what does a canoe race have to do with rockwell and the story? they kept going on and on about dark souls like combat but dark souls' story doesnt have u racing a canoe or maewing within a small amount of time to take on the bosses of it. wildcard so far in genesis has showed me that they dont know how to make missions that tie in with the story.
Does this work for ps4/5 Players too? More so those of us using controlers
It is extremely unlikely to be able to complete this mission with a controller due to that you can not accelerate while turning. I have sent a solution into wildcard but they never fixed it. You have to disable game pad and use a keyboard and mouse.
I must not be using the right buttons to turn because I can’t turn as fast as you are
If your using a keyboard and mouse maybe up your sensitivity not sure that matters but maybe if your using a controller its unlikely you can finish this mission.

Ya the game is designed for keyboard and mouse the controller is an after thought and was not considered when making the gen 2 missions. I have told Wildcard how to fix the issue for the canoe race simply by adding forward and backwards to face buttons instead of a joystick. In UE4 this is a 5 minute or less change.
How the hell you control the canoe like this? I have absolutey no control like this on PS5
The mission is not controller friendly you have to hook up a keyboard and mouse and disable the controller. The biggest issue is you cannot accelerate and turn with a controller Wildcard is aware and rather than spending 10 minutes to fix it just ignores the issue.

Just trying this mission for the first time. The game just kicks me out saying I failed because I didn't complete in time when I still have 2 mins left on the clock, and canoe has full health. Praying they do not have these stupid missions in Ark 2
Not sure what's going on for you. If you on a server with lag sometimes your health doesn't register taking damage visually sometimes your boat also just insta rips at the slightest touch. If you touched something thats probably what happened if not then you have a weird bug that you might want to report to Wildcard. But ya I agree some missions are just not fun if they were optional that would be better.
@@CamwayGaming thanks for the response! Agreed, optional would be better as another way for loot and blueprints. Mandatory to be able to do the boss fight really is not enjoyable

Invincible canoes make this mission a lot easier!

lol ya it can happen. I think I got one on the beta mission slammed into everything no damage. Sometimes the damage catches up later so I think this was more common at the start of Gen 2 when it was laggyer. Unless you know of a specific glitch I think this has to do more with desync. Also the front and back of the canoe are not quite in the canoe hitbox so you can sometimes get away with clipping them.
Was this done on your dedicated server or Official?
Official I only record the missions on official. Dedicated server is just for math testing. Cant get real mission results without that lag.

lol As I said in the video it was not me running the misssion it was a tribe mate letting me record him running it. I barely completed this mission the timer was on 0. I used this video to do it lol. Sorry for the late reply youtube has not been notifying me of all the replys apparently.

We got over 80 of our tribe mates through this run. And many more people have used this video to get through the run.
If you are on a laggy server not much can be done for you.
Do not use a controller they cannot accelerate and turn at the same time.
Depending on your skill level you may have to practice this run over and over and over.
It took me 12 to 15 hours of just this mission to finally get it.
The player in the video used to do this run several times a day cause he found it fun and he has one of the fastest completion times of the run on official pvp servers.
If only it was this fast on console
I have submitted a solution for console several times to wildcard but I guess they don't see it and or don't want to bother fixing the canoe mission for console. The solution for the canoe and the dolphin missions is to use a keyboard and mouse on the console currently.
All they have to do for canoe is make one of the 4 face buttons be the accelerate button instead of holding forward. Currently if you want to turn you can not accelerate.
Do you just let the boat drift down river or do you hold forward also?
you have to hold forward to keep moving forward. For this reason console players can not complete alpha unless they have patched console for this mission. I sent a suggestion in that they change forward to a face button on a controller and it would solve the problem. If your on console you might be able to switch your w/forward button around.

@@bigbrisk8423 Oh man thats no fun. on pc we can change our control mapping for keyboards and use a steam app to overwrite controller configs. You can always hook up a keyboard and mouse to do the missions you cant do with a controller. When I play console games I do not want to use a keyboard and mouse so I know its not ideal but until it gets fixed its your best option.

Its a rough mission but thats about the only way to do it if you walk away from it for to long the muscle memory starts to fade.

Could be lag the server doesn't know where you are. Sometimes the boat breaks for no reason the mission is super annoying
In this mission you realize how Bad the servers from ark are.
ya that's why I suggest if your on officials doing the mission when the server pop is low or traveling to a low pop server to do the mission.
During the first few months of gen 2 it was worst. They didn't have the code in the game to remove / trash collect certain info so the server would get worst and worst until it finally crashed and reset. Then the process would start over again.
It was very frustrating beating all the missions under those conditions along with the other lag that already comes from official servers.

It is not possible to beat it with a controller due to not being able to accelerate while turning. I have submitted the solution to them several times. It would take 5 minutes to patch.
With a keyboard and mouse this mission is still really hard and the time limit is ridiculous. if they just gave 3-5 seconds more a lot more people would be able to complete it.
If your server is to laggy then ya probably not beatable time was not added in for lag with this mission. Devs only tested in single player or empty servers.
Honestly, I don't understand. Even before watching this video I do that exact path. 100's of attempts, just doesn't work. I time out before the last ring you hit in the video. I hit no rocks, no damage, hit every ring you hit in the video, every turn, every exact thing you do, yet I time out way before the finish. Makes no sense. Such a shit mission.
Are you holding accelerate the entire time? Except of course the sections where the video shows to let off of acceleration. Of course if you are using a controller you can not stay at max speed and turn since they are both tied to the same joystick.

Have you tried using a keyboard and mouse? I prefer controller but you cant hold forward and turn correctly in this mission with a controller. There are several missions unplayable with a controller. On console you shouldn't have to use a keyboard and mouse because you bought the console for the convenience of a controller and more heavily regulated games. But its Ark
@@CamwayGaming I'll have to invest in a keyboard. And yeah I mean I managed everything else with a controller except this mission and honestly it's pretty annoying
@@beastscar4937 In time they should make adjustments to it. Having a button to move you forward and a different one to move you backwards and adding 5-10 seconds to the time would make it beatable on console. In UE4 this is a one man job that with testing should only take a few hours.
