That said, the presenters were absolutely being assholes. The kids were just being kids, and some of those high jumps were majorly impressive. But it’s still fucking hilarious to see a middle-aged dude in a suit pretend to ride a horse with such ludicrous dignity.

I grew up with this stuff, so I don’t really understand why it’s so funny, bc I’m so used to seeing it. It’s every little horse girl’s dream to have your own horse but it’s ridiculously expensive, so what does a little girl do? Use her imagination. Hobby horsing is a mixture of handicraft and sports which is a nice combo, besides it’s basically free. Many of these people actually design and make their own horses. I sewed my own horses and I’m now remembering the years I spent on trying to jump higher and higher obstacles. It’s really a good hobby. Greetings from Finland

yall i’m from finland and :D i actually did this for many years. i even went to watch the national championships one year and had a great time. it’s all pretty funny to me now ,, but i used to take it quite seriously because it was good exercise ... i even made my own hobby horses. tbh selling my hand made hobby horses made bank when i was 13 years old lol. taking riding lessons with real horses is super expensive here and i think that’s also why so many horse girls do this instead. i still think it’s pretty cool that i was able to jump 110cm jumps. i’m glad you got a laugh out of it though

I wish I knew about this when I was a kid! I’ve always been a horse kid and always wanted my own and to get lessons, but I grew up very poor in America. And kids bullied me for loving horses and playing as a horse when I was literally a little ass kid??? Oh well one day I’ll have my own horse, it’s one of my biggest dreams! No one understands how much horse people love horses, I know it seems cringey to many but it really is sweet. I will never make fun of people being passionate about something that is hurting no one.

I used to be huge into hobbyhorsing a couple years back and it was a massively important hobby for me, though I used to be super embarrased to admit that because it just never seems to be taken seriously, plus being a guy in the hobbyhorsing scene isn't that common lol. Honestly, this is actually a great form of exercise and it’s better than just staring at a screen. Some of these kids make their own which is quite impressive (I have tried and it is so hard) and the community is so fun and nice.
