    A big thank you to our friends at the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways for allowing us to come and film the new coaches they're building for us - they look phenomenal!

    Interesting :-). I will certainly like to see the newer carriages as it does look as if they were making it in a heritage replication :-). I do hope the steam fleet will manage with the newer carriages :-).

    I believe these are the first new Tallylyn coaches in over 50 years! They will carry numbers 24, 25, and 26.

    Absolutely marvelous, I have a feeling No.3s brother Sir Handel will be very pleased to see these new "Real coaches" whenever he visits!
    Keep up the good work

    Well, all good things come to an end eventually,
    It’ll be a sad day to see the old coaches be retired, but it’s understandable with the reasons behind it… if it means they survive for future generations to come, then so be it.
    Perhaps the coaches can come with a certain England engine re-gauges to fit the TR on delivery? Or at least just borrowing one for the Awdry extravaganza,

      The original coaches are only being retired from daily use - they'll still be out and about on the Railway for our Victorian Train experiences!

    It is a little bit of a shame that the original coaches won't be used as often, but it's good that they're being given a light load and will hopefully be around for generations of Talyllyn visitors to see!

      Hopefully it'll mean we can run our specific "Victorian Trains" more often, so even more chance to see them in their original configuration too!

    I visited the TR back in 2017 after reading Railway adventure and had a lovely around trip behind the Old Lady herself

    Watched this it is great your railways are working together and have done met one of your volunteers here on South Australia on a holiday with Puffing bully volunteers while at steamranger telling him this was up.

    Personally I would have preferred replicas of the old carriages; however, it does seems that the average tourist prefers comfort to historical accuracy.

    That reminds me, I wonder if you'll find a replacement No. 12?
    Also, if these coaches had SKR counterparts, what would their names be?

    I love this channel. But I've never been to this railway. =(

    I noticed these new carriages appear to be completely wood framed. I would have thought these days in the interest of safety that they would have been steel framed especially after continuous braking was forced on the TR after many years of running without it

    • @gravelydon7072
      @gravelydon7072 Рік тому

      I wondered the same. It would have been possible to hide a steel superstructure under the wood but it would take a bit more work.

    Interesting thx. It is a shame that they didn't mention in passing who the third new carriage in the workshop was for ?

    With new bogie coaches being built, where will that leave the old bogie coaches?

    • @TalyllynRailway1865
      @TalyllynRailway1865  Рік тому +5

      The 3 new bogie coaches will be in use alongside the existing bogie coaches.
      As we'll have new coaches, it means we can take some of the old bogie coaches out of service temporarily to give them some well needed maintenance and get them back into service looking brand new!
      These coaches aren't replacements, but new additions!
