Thank you for this re-upload! Loved it first time round and have just watched this brilliant video again. Belle Vue Stadium documented beautifully as always. Your films are visually stunning. I love your narration, the music and the banter between you & Gary. I'm loving that alternative ending!! Oh yessss!!
Yeah just a simple f@ck you sufficed I’m the end Lol. Thank you very much for your wonderful comment and feedback Lynne we truly appreciate it m8 x
Brought back a million memories of my dogs that ran on there, I was privileged to see the great Balliniska Band in the 70s, he went on to win the Derby in 1977, also that other great Scurlogue champ, great video but I am gutted
I remember being there.alot. back in the 70s. I grew up in high Openshaw.
Down abbeyhay Lane.
Watching this
Brings back good memorys
I used to come here about 2010 when I was a kid watching speedway with my dad, it is sad to see it like this so many good memories at this place. As off now its been completely flattened and now houses stand there 😢
Absolute excellent footage, I remember the good old days, the place was chocker, half of Manchester and half of Liverpool would be there, but rarely any trouble
Cheers m8 and yeah Ive heard some cracking stories about this old place man!
Im watching it as im typing so I don't forget. I can not believe the hall of fame photos has not been taken away. Thats so so so sad that its not being saved unless its still going to be taken down and saved. in 1998 when I was just 18 I nearly got a job at the bar but it was too far to get too with public transport. I ended up at Stockport County pulling pints instead. I never remember the zoo and theme park as I think that was before my time but I watched the dogs a few times. It was a fun place, you had to be one of those types of people to hang there. Im glad you had a explore there before its gone forever. Ill send this now incase it dissapears and carry on watching.
I had dogs on there racing it brings a tear to your eyes mate top vid respect thanks
Absolute pleasure m8 and yeah I can imgine!
My Gran used to work on the Mistley Bar during the 60’s to 90’s. I used to go in the 70’s and then I was a parade girl from 1985-1995. Loved that place.
I lived on Stanley Grove at the back of Belle Vue and the smell of the Speedway bikes was phenomenal, the smell of the exhaust had an addictive smell, it was like the 70s advert when the smell of bistro was waving through the air for your Sunday dinner..lol.. Top coverage guys of one of the most iconic places in the UK.. 👍👏👏
Cheers Stratman and yep there's nothing like the smell when burning rubber
Took me mam there for her bday about 10 years ago ! What a night it is there everyone buzzing ! Great memories thanks for the video fella 🙌🏻
Your welcome m8 thanks for your memories
Had my 40th there. I arrived in a black (hired) Bentley and some people thought the QSG had arrived! You used to be able to sit down in the restaurant, (which was surprisingly decent) and someone would come and get your bets at your table. They also made me a birthday cake which was really good. I sponsored a race and enjoyed presenting the prize to the winning owner. Happy memories.
Brilliant I'm glad you found the film m8.
Great video Clarky
Had some belting times here. Its such a shame. Nice video man 👌🏻
Cheers m8 thanks for watching
Lovely to see the that place once again, remember it well, not the dog track but the great times at the zoo and fair. Cheers for bringing back some memories. 😘
This is cracking! Eerie, sad and so cool. Big up Daz Coops wherever you are buddy!
Excellent video that clarky, captured it well
Clarky, brill video brought some memorys back spent a few evenings down there watching the dogs and speedway great atmosphere sad to see it like that.
Thanks for your history brother.
Makes me wanna come back home to Manchester sadly I can't can only visit
I used to work there qnd that bought back some memories
First time finding your channel today and livin the nostalgia. Me and my dad used to go every year to watch the stock car meets. We'd watch the races, take in the roars of V8s, tour the pits and have a brilliant time every time we visited. Such a shame to see a massive piece of Manchester history gone.
Yeah it deffinately is m8 and to be stood in there empty and derelict it's quite a sight m8. Thanks for watching minarus. I hope you find a few more places here that you recognise.
My sister was a trainer there in used to go there all the time love visiting the new puppies riding with Ernie on his huge horse and cart my sister brought one dog home they were going to put down. Sure side sandy after my moms food and all the love we gave him the original owner asked for him back to breed but he had also got his speed back great memories of long ago early fifties
This made me feel really Sad :( was such a beautiful place to go to with my dad when i was younger, thanks for the video
Your welcome m8.
Great video excellent work like always I remember taking my two kids to the stock car 🚗 and then remember that too all about the memories bro 💯💖👍
Respect brother thanks for watching man!
It's always a pleasure watching your stuff m8👊💯💖👍
Am From Liverpool & used to go 3/4 times a year. £5 racecard & pint. Great dog races " a flutter " a laugh and then back into Liverpool to finish the night off. Wouldn't even know a dog track that's close to me now. Had some gr8 nights out at belle Vue. Shame covid brought it to its knees
Great Video mate.so sad to see it shut down.been here many of times.if you said who let the Dogs out as you come in you would get in for free.won few Quid.gutted to see it shut..
Cheers m8 thanks for watching man.
Quality production & great insight in it's history..
Worked there for about 13 years. Brillant place with loads of good people, Daz coops was a guy on maintenance who worked there for yeara, he was a good lad and really funny. Thank you for the video, loads of brillaint memoreys from there
Cool thanks for the history m8. Why do I know that name Daz Coops?
In the video when you are at the top near the commentators box in the room.above which was the Hare drivers room on the wall was written "daz coops last day" and a certain date
@@ianyates7601 AHH right I remember now lol it's weird though because I swear I know that name since!
Do you live local? He used to live near the Pineapple. Lived in Gorton all his life
@@ianyates7601 I don't m8 no I'm Salford way but thanks for your history I really appreciate it. Did you see the Belle Vue Cinema film I did too?
Only ever been here once, and as it was an end of season night out with my football team, memory is quite hazey as there was 1 or 2 drinks involved 😂
But i do remember standing in that main stand watching the floodlit race and being taken aback by how hammered it was in there, i knew nothing about dog racing and never imagined it was so popular, everybody well dressed it was a really good night out.
So sad to see it all empty and in decline its like everyine just got up one day and left and never returned like some kind of apocalypse has happened.
Brilliant video as always. Thanks 😍
Fantastic video dude. Brought back so many memories from this great venue. Thank you 👍🏻
Thank you brother
Great video again 😊👍🏻
Nice one brother Awesome explore, Yes m8 it was me Joe that mentioned to you about the alarms cctv and electronics you come across 👍
Hahaa mint thanks for watching brother.
Brilliant
Great video, my family are from Reddish so know Belle Vue and Showcase well. First film (Heman 😂) was at Belle Vue and went to the dogs a few times. Sad to see it go, but things move on.
Yeah they do m8 thanks for watching Liam have a good en pal.
Awesome film, Jay. What. A massive place and land. I never ever got to go to Bellevue dogs. Went to fairground there as a kid. It’s so sad and upsetting to see this is it, will be demolished. Loved all and every part of this , and the music very fitting. Every where is eerie bit like a ghost town, as no longer in use. Hopefully, the owners of greyhounds, may have found another race stadium to carry on their much loved sport. What beautiful dogs. Amazing.
Cheers Diane and yeah I agree I love greyhounds I hear a lot of people going on like the dogs are mistreated and perhaps in some cases they are but most the people I’ve spoke to since love they’r dogs dearly so I think it’s a minority… well, I hope it is :(
Top vid mate classic this one
Cheers brother
Had my stag do at the dogs. Had a brilliant night. Went to the stox afterwards
I used to work there as the cameraman . Enjoyed my work there a lot . Have got coverage of the very last meeting , may upload this when I get time ! Anyway , well shot film from yourselves !
If you do m8 please give us a shout and Il share it on my FB page for you as a lot of people treasured this old place.
Ok , that would be great . Your film is very important , to see the last days of the stadium just before it was demolished . It was there for such a long time , many , many generations of people worked there .
But time doesn’t stand still , the area though does now enjoy a top class facility in the stadium next door , was a pity that dog racing wasn’t included in the stadium lay out ! @@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt
I did do a video around the stadium , it’s called Belle Vue Gardening Study , or something like that ! I was the cameraman and also worked on the maintenance team . We had our own golf society !! That area behind the old divendend board was the speedway pits area . @@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt
@@roynicol8353 Cool is it on UA-cam?
Yes you should find it under Roy Nicol Films . @@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt
Love your videos and the music that you put on well done
Thank you Lynn x
Great video. Remember going to dog races in eighties from work it was brilliant day out. So tragic it's gone down the pan. Great job showing us all the different aspects . Many thanks for your time trouble and the risks you lads take on theses urban explorations. Great job pal.
Cheers Ste all the best m8
used to go to speedway every weekend half way through they opened a gate so you could go into the fair ground good night out used to go to the stock cars aswell when i was a bit older in the 70s used to go to the dog racing with my dad great memories
I’m glad we brought them back for you m8 thank you for watching and sharing your history brother!
Wow great memories of when we used to live in Offerton and go to Belle Vue for all the various entertainments. Speedway I'm thinking Ivan Mauger and Dick Fisher? And I can still smell the cinders
Had some great times here
I remember going to the dogs meny a night. Had a great time. You would say I love the dogs and get a free pint and a burger. I only work down the road at the train depot. It's been pulled down now. Building new homes on now. Got some pictures myself before thay pulled it down. So sad. Had some great time. Plus I remember when it was belle vue zoo as a kid . 👍
My grandad used to go All time in 60-70-80s after he moved over to Ireland... I finally go to go in 2018 when I visited my dying dad... He wasn't too happy I went to the dogs. But it was worth it to go
Thanks for your history m8.
Wow some good old memories. Just showed it to the old fella. He went to see The Who there in 1975.
No way man. It would have been a proper little sttadium all round then too so i can imagine a good gig on there!
Remember going to belle vue dogs as a kid They have built houses on it now! Gorton is my hometown
Wow seriously they didn't waste any time then did they!
No and what use to be the showcase cinema is a school now everything as changed since they demolished belle vue amusement park and zoo it was a great day out for kids and Granada bowls went that’s a bingo hall and the old gorton market as gone (outside)
Thanks Clarky that was brilliant, I never went to the dog stadium but went to the zoo and funfair when I was a kid which were brilliant. A few of my mates had a syndicate that bought into a dog that used to race there and won a few races about twelve years ago. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thank you Stevie m8 all the best man.
That was fantastic. Was great too see inside again as bad as it was. Hope alot of the stuff in there got to go to fans and people that worked there as memrobeler. So sad to see it go. Alot of good memories for alot of people. It will be missed. ✊
My first live band was in the King's Hall ( Belle Vue ) ( 1976/7 Supertramp) but had a " pub trip " to the dogs about 16 yrs ago. From my memory, the different tiers had small tables and chairs on them, and the atmosphere was unbelievable. We went with " Betting people " and won a few races ( much to their dire. 😂😂.) Only just found this vlog , and was shocked to see it finished 😢. ( probably been knocked down now.) Shame and very sad 😢😢
Aww went there the odd time and the beer Keller in the 70's some good memories
What an amazing video, brought back some great memories 🥲 shame to see it like that.
Thanks you Rick
Dad took me here as a child, i remember rhe zoo & the Tibb St pet shop where you could purchase a lion, tiger or crocodile, mice were 3p & goldfish 2p.
Haha quality
So sad to see it all shut down. Loved Belle Vue amusement Park.
Omg I live literally round the corner 5 minutes from here
Loved Belle Vue back in the 60s as a kid, the track I tried my luck in the late 70s, no luck at all tho, the whole of Manchester as changed so much, not sure if it's for the better, great video Sir 👍
Wish some 1 with a load of money would buy this and get the dog racing back some great memories
The place has the same layout as a race track over here in Ottawa. I'm sure most tracks are similar around the globe.
So sad watching this yet another piece of history gone all of manchester and beyond had great nights out in there the men use to put free tickets in paper. That place will be missed if you was ever bored at home and the dogs was on you was not bored for long all round that complex was good breaks sneeker showcase then something to eat. Great days what a great loss
My childhood memories as we had greyhounds racing there 1968
The ‘preparation area’ mentioned at 1.00 were the home and away pits for the speedway teams.
Cool cheers john
44:30 This was the referees box for speedway. The phone was to communicate with the pits and for riders to call when they didn’t agree with the decisions 😄
1:00:28 These were the pits where the riders would have the bikes and mechanics. One team on either side. The red, black and white huts across from there were the changing rooms and showers.
the most surprising part is that there are still some drinks left in those vendos
1:03:30 Just looking at the photo they took of me presenting the winning dog's owner and family members for the winner of the "Fast H flyer" in the exact same spot back in 2004.
the speed track/dog course looks to short and small to the raceourse so what will go up in it place
A proper, working man’s track.
Another top vid mate!
What's the piano music you use..on this its around the 27 min mark.
Cheers
It’s called Cylinder Six by Chris Zabriskie I believe pal
Sad ,but you can’t stop the world turning
Just documenting history m8
I used to work there in the 1980s it's shame it closed
what are they gonna do with the place once they demolishing this iconic stadium
How long ago was this filmed? I remember only a year or so ago I played a football match on the middle of the track at the national, speedway stadium! I’m pretty that sure both that and the belle vue buildings stood side by side! But could be wrong?
Loving it already, ashamed to say I never went here, had the opportunity to but never got round to it, you think "I've got plenty of time" and before you know it, it's gone forever..
Absolutely right about people and dogs to..what's the point in having a dog if you're not going to walk it, miss my dog, went in 2017..never get another dog like him..
I know right… I think I would have liked it here myself too x
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt preserved on here for future generations to see and past generations to reminisciate about
Maan I didn’t even know that it was still abandoned. I thought they did something with it. Or knocked it down. Probably mixing it up with showcase lol
Thanks for posting this vid Urban .. of the vile and very despicable dog racing track prior to the demolition .. Its sickening to think of how many greyhounds died each year .. thanks to this vile industry .. many of which died on this very track ..
I myself was one of the good guys who for many years .. visited Belle Vue .. and stood outside the gates talking to potential customers of this vile shithole .. we turned many away each night .. after hearing about the cruelty that goes on .. they decided they didn't want to be a part of it ..
It did take a few years .. but our attendance at the gates .. helped to drive down the numbers of people coming to this vile shithole for their nights entertainment .. it eventually and as planned .. became a non profitable commodity ..
I for one am proud to say that i helped bring about the demise of this vile shithole .. that not only abused greyhounds .. but fleeced customers out of their hard earned cash ..
The day when the closure of this greyhound abusing shithole was announced .. i remember very well .. i was so happy .. i was dancing on air .. the day that we animal lovers knew would come .. had finally arrived .. it was a joy to behold ..
Thankfully now the greyhound abusing days of Belle Vue stadium are now confined to the history books .. where .. in the future .. people will look back in disgust and think .. "did the good people of Manchester actually support this vile and very despicable industry since 1926? " .. which of course they sadly did ..
Thankfully Manchester is now rid of this vile and very despicable shithole ..
Thanks for your history m8.
Me Nutz are Caught........😁🤣🤣🤣
Lol
They need too bring dog racing back too Manchester,,even Oxford has reopened and new Towchester...
👀😎🖤👀😎🖤👀😎🖤👀😎
Do you ever take anything home with you from you tours
Never m8!
I don't think the 'virus' was the sole problem in the place shutting down. The MEN also mentioned that planning permission had been granted for houses and flats in the area. The big corporations come first. Money talks.
And sustainable development walks… theres a BIG f@cking club and we ain’t in it…
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt yes, that's right.
Was a brilliant night out that place was shutting down before covid was around was sold off for housing development numrous times such a shame
Gone to some greedy developer no doubt to build their high end shoe box
apartments on, the sort of eyesores that is popping up all over the towns and cities.
Gentrification my friend!
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt Agree mate, its always about the rich and big business.
16:55 Too funny!

How much would you win if you came in 1st?
To be honest m8 I’m not sure really?
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt No worries, I was just curious.
1st 🤣👊🏻
shame it's closed down for finance reason
Speed way riders not horses
Yeah the Belle Vue aces
Quality production & great insight in it's history..
