@@OpinionFactChecker my late husband was in the Air Force. After he got out he went back to being a Scaffold Carpenter. At the same time he was doing that he went to school for computer engineering. He was a massive adrenaline junky and just loved building. His pay was outrageously good and it was hard for him to stop but he eventually did and started a small internet and network security company with friends.

i’ll own up to it, i as a woman do not want to work grueling hours. i want to work in the community. i am also more drawn to desk jobs and definitely do want to major in something important not so i can make a lot of money but so that i can use my charisms to serve God and give back to my community.

I was an hr assistant uw meds it services department and the only male on the team. When i asked for a raise, i was replaced with a woman.

When you take everything into consideration, there is no significant wage gap between men and women. If there is a gap it is either statistically insignificant or the difference has nothing to do with bias against women.

My last job as a woman analyst/programmer, I was the only woman, and made more than my male counter parts. It has nothing to do with gender but productivity.
If the wage gap is real, then why don't companies fire all the men and raise the profits (from labor) by 20%+?
By not doing this the companies are saying that women are not worth the 20%+ savings in compensation.

I’m a mom and I was a single mother from the time my kids were 4 1/2 and 7 1/2 and yes he has he has women are paid less in most cases, even if they have more experience, and I found that out on two occasions, and it pissed me off because the asses they paid more than me ended up getting fired

2 things:
1 - while current research shows there is a wage gap between men and women in the SAME economical sector, one must also take into consideration that women and men are interested in different things. Women dominate people-centered positions (think teachers and nurses) which, on average, are paid less by default. Men, on the other hand, dominate idea or object-centered positions (think engineering, or business ownership) which tend to generate a larger paycheck by default.
2 - during the discussion of UBI (universal basic income), the idea that women should be paid simply to stay home and take care of their children/household was put forth. We as a society simply do not recognize the sheer weight and importance of women’s original role as mother and wife. Without that, this country would’ve never seen the same flourishing as it did during times like the industrial revolution and post-war baby boom.
Women shouldn't be paid by the thieving government for staying home and taking care of the house and children. That is supposed to be their core job in general. Allowing women into the overall workforce doubled the field of workers, meaning OF COURSE would lower wages. Get most women out of the work force and wages will go up as there is now a giant gap. Men will make a whole lot more and tend to work more hours, bringing more stability to a business. They in turn bring home way more money to take care of their family. You know. Like was done for the first 100 years of the country.

Another issue is insurance. It costs more for the company to insure women due to pregnancy and maternity issues. Also, female doctors...pap tests, mammograms, gynecologist visits. All necessary things for women's health unrelated to an not countered for men's health.

The real issue is the gender lifestyle gap. Women on average live a better lifestyle than their earnings would support and men life a worse lifestyle than their earnings should support.

If i pay someone working 16 hours the same as the 40 hour workers then the 16 hour workers are getting paid more

I work in the blue collar industry. Truck driver and equipment operators and every one got the same pay rate for doing the same thing.
There is a gender wage gap. Women make half a million a year, and men make twenty thousand a year. Of course i surveyed 10 female surgeons, and 10 male janitors. 🤔
When people discuss the wage gap how come they only recognise men and women.

These women always say “there are studies” without ever actually naming the studies.
As always, in any wage/pay gap discussion, the first thing that should happen is that there needs to be an agreement of terms, otherwise it’s easy for both sides to technically be correct and talk past one another, because it’s true that for those working full time, the average man earns more than the average woman. It’s also true that men do not make more per hour for doing “the same job”, which many women believe is happening.

Most of the women on this silly podcast are dull and have no life in their eyes. They don't seem to understand the weight of what they've done or the consequences of the life they live.
Jasmine on the other hand chose with both eyes open to abandon a powerful career in law to become the person sitting at that table.

I think there is more like a confidence gap in the workplace. Most roles are equivalent in pay between both genders in a performance based company if performance is the same but less Women in Directer/VP+ roles where the pay is the highest and where Stock awards are given. So while pay gap isn’t a big thing l, the glass ceiling is. It could be the healthy balance of home responsibilities that Women don’t make that step into executive mgt. roles but confidence plays a role too. I found Men are more willing to take high risks and take on roles even if they’re not fully qualified and most Women when they grow tend for ask for more responsibility (breadth) instead of higher position, in some way to prove to themsleves and others that they can handle the next level up. Sometimes that pays off for upward movement and sometimes they find themselves spread too thin from the expanded responsibility they asked for and it has an adverse affect on career movement. Men almost never do that (ask for more responsibility). They are much better delegators and don’t seem to lack the confidence to ask for more money and higher positions.

I think “wage” is more of an after college degree, working pay comparison.
Niche markets and doing your own gig does not fall in line with any “wage gap”. You could make just as much as Joe the house painter, or you could represent a product and find success in sales. America is all about opportunity. Maybe in a political sense if you are trying to plan economics in advance, a wage gap could be something you might take into consideration, but the individual opportunity on a micro scale can never be taken away, or made obsolete. Oprah is a woman, but she did a lot of tough shit to get her wage.

There are quite a few young womEn in this generation who are either unable or intentionally do not use the correct plural, "womEn," in a sentence. Is this a poor education issue or is there another reason for this, using "womAn" instead of "womEn?"
Examples:
(1:40) "... womAn will suffer."
(1:48) "womAn are less able ..."
(5:25) "... a lot of these womAn, the reason why they still want to work..."
