I did this well a few years ago when you posted it on an older model of Blender. I have been meticulously doing basic 101 tutorials and just getting the hotkeys and verbage imbedded into my memory. I have ADHD and have a hard time following some tutorials if they are bland. You have the perfect cadence and tone to your voice that makes it easy to follow along even when not looking at the screen. When you had us stop in the middle and create the upper structure to get ready for mirroring, I realized that I am no longer a COMPLETE BEGINNER, I was not only able to create the pieces, albeit a little different than yours but still cool, I then kept going with mirroring everything. I had to undo do to the mirror I did as it was set to the top log and not an empty but man it feels good to have everything start clicking. Thank You!!!
I've been following many Blender tutorials before, and I can say with certainty that your tutorial is the best! 10 out of 10. I can't believe how easily I can understand what you're trying to explain. The pace, explanations, shortcuts-everything is extraordinarily perfect. Thank you very much for your hard work and dedication. I hope your channel grows big soon! * I'll be stalking your tutorials from now on, 😄
I've never felt so relaxed while following any blender tutorial. This one is the most enjoyable for me so far! I absolutely love the way you explain anything because I can finally undertand what all of these things mean. Thank you so much
Thank you very much man! It means a lot to see someone like yourself teaching these kinds of things. I know of a lot of gamedev youtubers who use your videos all the time to learn 3d modelling, and it's awesome man!
I did this awhile back and now im here for the small tips that are in between the process, thanks again for your work. Anyone new to blender DONT QUIT! Gabbitt is that guy!
Where the support beams meet the beams coming down would be the highest part of the bend, because the weight of the roof tiles would push down on the beam and the support beam would counter that weight.
i cant figure out one thing when i go to mirror and press on the picker it does work but it gets out of place a little bit and the problem is when it happens you have no way to fix it because they are joined?
@grabbitt oh I gotcha, and thanks for the response. If you are up for a followup to this, then would anything change if I applied them and why would someone want to hit apply? I have only gone through pt 1 and 2, but hopefully will be through it this evening! It has been fun and VERY helpful!!
when I try to join the vertex like you do at 4:53, it tells me "invalid selection order" even if I selected them the same way you did. Is there any difference, in this case, between using J to join and simply using the knife?
This is an amazing video, but I can just not figure one thing out, when you were making cracks in the wood, I cannot do it for the third time it would create a diamond shape
I discovered that using the pull point (G, G), it won't go further than a vertex point. The notch I created, I made it go cross-wise, but it jammed up at the mid point (the next vertex). Presumably this would happen on an edge too... is there a way to break past that? Or would that be a product of more modelling?

@@ncardil You still at it?
Very helpful 😊 soo amazing I am beginner and your videos are just perfect
I really like your videos. I learn a lot. Thank you! I can’t wait for episode 3
Love this tutorial! I'm going to purchase your beginner course soon. :)

Thanks a lot Professor, I feel so much better than after that damn Donut tutorial !
Amazing 😃😃
3:52 otra forma creo que es seleccionando 1 vértices y dándole a la J, de todas formas, buen video, gracias :D
thank you so much!

The object you pick becomes the mirror object and the mirror point is the objects origin. You can always use an empty ss a mirror object
@@grabbitt thank you
am I missing it, but do you hit apply to your modifiers? I dont think I saw you do that in the last video as well, but maybe I am wrong?
You don't need to apply them
@grabbitt oh I gotcha, and thanks for the response. If you are up for a followup to this, then would anything change if I applied them and why would someone want to hit apply? I have only gone through pt 1 and 2, but hopefully will be through it this evening!

@allforumboardr1 generally you don't apply them if you can help it
@@grabbitt I gotcha, well I will probably keep applying them from now on and see if I run into problems, for my own personal knowledge.
Thanks again.
thx for tutorial now i can build wood

Are you in vertex mode and have you got an active object. One highlighted yellow
This is an amazing video, but I can just not figure one thing out, when you were making cracks in the wood, I cannot do it for the third time it would create a diamond shape
Might have some doubles
thank you
If anyone uses lazy viewport add on like I do for GG shortcut to move along edges, click on the axis and hold G.
I bet you have a well just like that in your backyard.

Press c to turn off the clamp
❤❤❤
You said you don't mind that there are ngons in this. I was taught that ngons are always bad. What say you? lol
Ngons are fine check my video on tris quads and Ngons for more info

What? This was my introduction to blender, some years ago.
