Salamanca is an amazing city. Wherever you look you’ll be overwhelmed with the beauty of its architecture and history. 👍 This is actually in my list of “must visit” in Spain. . . plus Santiago de Compostela. 😃 Thanks Tony for sharing this wonderful video !!! c”,)
Thank you, Jasper. Salamanca is truly fantastic, and if you could complete your visit with nearby Segovia and Ávila it would be a perfect trip. Kind regards!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Hola Tony! I got to visit Segovia and Avila, when I visited Spain the last time, but I was not able to visit Salamanca .. Then I was suppose to make a trip for Spain in 2019, and Salamanca was in my itinerary, unfortunately the day before my departure, I had to cancel my trip. Your videos make me look forward to future travels to Spain.Hopefully soon ! c”,)
Jasper, you should visit! There are so many other places to see here than the ones in this video, or the longer video (in Spanish) on Tony's other UA-cam channel. One of the things that strikes me is how harmonious the architecture is here. There are really no "ugly" parts of town as even barrio Garrido somehow weaves nicely into the fabric of the city. For a great view of the cathedral head over to the Parador in Santa Marta de Tormes (just across río Tormes) and get a coffee at the restaurant there. There seems to be an interesting rincón everywhere here. Also, an amazing thing about Salamanca is that there are fruit trees literally in all the parks (plums, pears, quince, cherries, mulberries, and apples), not to mention the black berries and walnut trees along the river by the USAL sports fields! One final thing, Salamanca also has a Roman historical site (on the hill across from the Palacio de Congresos) that has been undergoing major renovations and is worth a visit.
@@TheGrandDurian I really enjoyed reading your description of Salamanca. I felt the enthusiasm through your words that created vivid images in my mind. It really made me want to visit Salamanca soon. Thanks for your encouraging comment. 😃
Thanks so much for this tour! It's my next stop on the trip to Portugal. Hope to spend 2 nights in Salamanca and thanks for the last tip in your video! Many blessings 🙌
Great video. It would be impossible for me to narrow down all the things to see and do here to just 10. Salamanca is a very pedestrian friendly city that can easily be walked from one side to the other in less than 1 hour (I do it regularly). It has something for almost everyone, and it's best discovered when you don't pay attention to the time. If you are pushed for time, visit Avila or some other place. Salamanca has too much to see and do for a day trip, plus, you really must see it at night as in the day.
Hello again. We couldn't agree more with you on the issue of Salamanca not being suitable for a day trip, that's why we didn't even mention it on our recent video on day trips from Madrid. We know there is a huge crowd out there than visits Salamanca as a day trip from Madrid, but we strongly feel that is a huge mistake. And yes, Salamanca at night is quite an experience! All the very best to you!
On a road trip tour of Spain in July 2019, we stopped in Salamanca, but only for one day. It was very hot, almost 40 C. We did get to walk around a little (it was hot), and did see some wonderful sights, including Plaza Mayor. Loved what we did see. Doing another trip in September (Madrid, Salamanca, Seville, Merida, Nerja and Malaga). Got 2 days here this time - definitely doing the other 9, plus the Plaza again on this trip. Thanks for putting up this video.
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Hi Tony, thanks for another excellent video. I am planning on traveling to Spain in April of next year. Could I please ask you a question? I need a bit of advice on the best places to visit. I like to avoid tourist traps and prefer to just walk around seeing the city. I especially like old back streets and alley ways as I live in a very modern city, Vancouver, Canada. I think that you can get a much better idea about life in a city by just walking around like this, then by visiting a lot of "tourist hot spots". If you could suggest four or five possible destinations for me I would appreciate that very much. Thank you.
Hi Patrick, we intend to create a consultancy service to help with queries like yours, but so far it is at a planning stage. This video might give you some pointers: ua-cam.com/video/GkgrYc89s_o/v-deo.html
Thank you for your great video. Very informative. In March 2024, We are planning to drive around Madrid including Toledo, Avilla, Segovia and Salamanca for 4 days 3 nights . Which town do you recommend to stay overnight? Muchas gracias 😊
Hello Tony, I would like to go to Salamanca directly from MAD. It seems that there is bus from MAD to Salamanca. I wonder whether I can get the ticket on bus or should get in advance. Thanks! I watched all your Spain train videos. I really like to take the train and will take many trains for 3 weeks in Andalucía :)
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal , Hi Tony, thanks for your advice. After watching this wonderful video. I added 2 more day for Salamanca to my Andalucía trip, plus Toledo and Madrid. I will spend 2 nights in Salamanca. I am back to Madrid Est. Sur at 16:30 and planning to take 17:45 train to Toledo. Do you think I can catch 17:45 train to Toledo? I wonder what the fastest way to get to Atocha from Est. Sur? If I buy 17:45 ticket and miss the train, can I use it for next train? It seems the ticket does not have flexible option. I really appreciate your advice and enjoy all your videos. BTW, I am looking forward your video on Toledo 😃
