I like that this video tells the truth, we always said that celebreties hire huge men because of crowd control. However those of us in the business of actual protection have to deal with real threats of bodily harm and thats why size doesnt always matter in this job.
I did 22 years in the police and served on a specialized unit that also did VIP protection.Left and did 6 years as a PMC and I have been doing CPO work for the last 4 years.The job has evolved and not what it was a few years back.Clients are changing with all the “young” money around and want you to be the driver,nanny,shopper and CPO. I’m retiring next year,but good luck to anyone wanting to make it a career 👍
did the same in italy after my military service parachute, good money and nice experience (i speak 3 languages cause my mum is switzerland) but the critic point was the time, u must be always ready 24/7/365 ... training and protocol wasn't so hard for me, but time, this was really hard, can't plan to sleep, to rest, always ready, very hard, they deserve any cent they earn

Firearm, close quarter combat, and being diversified in types of languages. The rest is common sense and gut feeling. Size doesn’t matter bc I’m 6’7 295lbs and my 3 other partners were under 6’1.
I think, based on your post, you are screaming "i'm the bodyguard with your entire body." So if i wanted to go in ghost mode, you are not the guy. A bouncer would be suiting you more. The guy at the door you respect.

I am currently in this line of work and theres a lot more to be said about dynamic driving, soft skills/de escalation, and the large amount of "low profile" or covert work. There's actually a large amount of training needed to run transport jobs for HNWI's as well. Surveillance, advances, and a certain amount of PI knowledge will take you much further. My guess is, he was lucky enough to land a job or two and now brags about it.
It is possible to produce superior performance provided you do something different from the majority. However most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.
There must be so much completion for high end positions given all the highly trained military vets returning with hella skills and combat experience etc
If they have to be retrained not to run TOWARD a threat but away from it, it seems that hiring a civilian who has martial arts, firearms, driving, and security skills he got from training courses would be better. No need to retrain them.

We went to a maccies and he got mobbed by a load of teens, but literally me chicken legend had just arrived and there was no way I wasn't eating it as i was starvin, long story short he ended up with a black eye and broken leg which he blamed me for which was annoying but you live and learn

You will need to pass rigorous physical training. That being said being a bodyguard is more about how well you react under high pressure and your abilities in situational awareness. Could you do it at 54 technically yes.
