I feel like I'm not very good at drawing characters; and have been struggling with that lately; so I decided to do some character studies from reference. Do you study from reference? and do you find it helpful?
Yes. I do that. And i find it very useful and time saving.. Before that i used to squeeze my brain out to know the exact moving qnd anatomy, after that i realised it's a waste of time and energy and i accepted the fact that i should work from reference many times until i grow a library in my brain so i could draw from imagination.

I can always think of amazing ideas for art in my head, always something beautiful yet I couldn't draw it the way I imagine it to be. This makes me become unmotivated and continued for a year where I just draw and give up. But I think it's time for me to actually try to practice various aspects like anatomy and composition all that stuff

I have exactly the same feeling. That's why I haven't been drawing for over two years, maybe three. I do it on and off but I never put much time into it like I used to. It was starting to become frustrating, I could never draw what my mind imagined. And doing something you love shouldn't be frustrating all the time. Sometimes I want to start again and other times I feel like I don't want to at all...
@@Neumii You’ll definitely be able to draw from imagination if you draw from reference consistently. Give it a year and see your skill develop into something amazing! 🙌🏻

I really like the phrase ‘putting your imagination on pause’. with social media being a thing, I often feel like if I don’t post my own original work, I don’t have worth as an artist

Thank you Imad(for inspiration); like others, I have my struggles with the ideas in my mind;and having trouble with drawing them out; but I think this is mainly because I used to be left handed; now I’m forced to draw right handed because I had a stroke and my left side is paralyzed 😞I still have the ideas in my mind; just need to practice with my non dominant hand. I appreciate your videos for a burst of inspiration to purge forward! Have a great day!😁

Hi guys I just have a question, is it considered as draw from reference if you just redraw what you saw? Like I want to redraw something in anime like I can redraw their faces (not perfect) and poses but myself keep doubting if that is called an art or what. What brushes do you use ?
These sketches were done using the Procreate's built in brushes; especially 'Procreate Pencil'
