5 Tips To Improve Your Toss
“Holding the ball like cup of water” *MIND BLOWN* cured my very high toss.
Ahhhhh yes. Bc then you can’t flick it up high. Awesome to hear that. Have a great day!!
The same here... I flip the ball with my wrist....but “holding the ball like a glass” did the trick....thank you!
Best toss tip EVER
Same here. So clear and helpful!
One of the best coaches in the world.. im surprised a pro on tour hasn't put you on the payroll
Wow. Thank you. Honestly I wouldn’t be interested in coaching pros. I love coaching amateur players and seeing their “ah ha” moments. Your kind words mean the world to me. Have a great day!!!
Very, very good information (all your videos), blends the art with the science of coaching excellently as well as anybody I have seen, if not the best I’ve seen. I suspect a Vic Braden influence somewhere along the journey? Thanks for sharing!
Ryan, you are seriously good ! More fame and power to you.
@@abhishekchoudhury6738 wow! Thank you!!
Simple and logical. It is so easy to make tennis more complicated than it really has to be. You are making playing- and working on improving both massively more fun more EFFICIENTLY and EFFORTLESSLY in many ways.
1. Grab the ball as a glass of water
2. J Toss
3. Reduce tossing arm speed
4. keep the tossing arm up
5 .Toss inside the curt (use smthing to get the ball in)
Best coach on youtube, always pro tips.
Thanks so much!!!
I think your are the best tennis instructor I´ve ever seen. thanks
Ex-D1 college player here and now in my 40's. My toss has been all over the place since I almost never serve anymore and your first tip sounds like pure gold to me to fix my toss issue! Thanks a lot! Now I gotta try it :)
Amazing. You fixed the weakest part of my game.
Simple breakdown of the toss. It is the best coaching, ever I have. Thanks!
Brilliant!! Gonna try this 🎾👍
I loved all 5 tips!! I can’t wait to try them on the court!!!
Great help thank you !
Awesome tips. Keep you posted!
thank you Ryan!! BIG BIG help for me...
Great tips!! Thank you so much!
Super ! Smart ! Thanks !!!
Yet another awesome video by you thanks! My serve toss has always been so erratic, can't wait to hit back the courts post lockdown to try some of these tips. Only the "glass of water" one I knew about and had tried recently, and it already helped.
Super helpful,thank u !
Thanks for the tips.
Thanks for all your tips on the serve Ryan, will try them on court tomorrow.
Thanks Ryan, really enjoy your videos and find them very helpful.
Watched the video practiced the steps a little on my own-played a match the next day and what a difference in my serve just in that short amount of time! Can’t wait to spend more time practicing this! Great video!
You're videos are great. Thanks for the info. I'm going to try these tomorrow.
Very helpful I’m going to try it
Thank you! The first tip is so useful!❤
Well, I have been playing for over 10 years now and started watching your videos about a few months back. Everything that you say makes sense! Great channel!
REALLY like these tips. And they ALL make sense. I will try them next time out. Thanks!
Thank you so much for your tips🤗 The best I found here on youtube
Wonderful tips as usual. I wish I had these videos when I started playing tennis.
My favorite tip was starting with the toss behind the line to ensure a forward toss. So simple. Thank you!
great tips again! Thanks Ryan
All three tips are just super useful!
great video, this will improve my serve and toss
thanks heaps!
Good to make a video on this...such a difficult part of learning a good serve for so many people!
You may have addressed the toss arm in other videos, but consider where the toss arm ends "overhead"...a right handed player wants to avoid the arm moving to the left of their centerline. Notice all good serves keep their toss arm on the side of their head that their racquet arm is located (right of head for right handers). This impacts how the scapula and and rest of shoulder biomechanics function during the serve.
Also note that the toss arm stays to the racquet side of the body as it comes down and the racquet arm goes up. Both of these checkpoints keep the body from prematurely and over rotating right to left (counter-clockwise) for the right hander.
Very helpful tips. Thank you Ryan
Great coach. Useful tips.
Great tips
All tips are excellent, thanks a lot
Great video which contains all key points. Thanks!
Brilliant tips! Thanks a lot! I have a tendency to always roll the ball with tossing - loved the explanations and the "holding a glass" metaphor - it makes so much sense. Can't wait to try these out.
Wonderful tips. Thanks a lot.
Thank you!!!! I practice the bucket technique.... It REALLY helped a lot my 1st serve. Thank tou Ryan!
I am constantly following your tips, and its working. Thanks a lot to fix my problems. Keep it up
All 5 tips are really good. Will work on this. Thanks .
Excellent coach, no one has explained to me the toss in such thorough detail! The glass of water, J toss and placing the ball inside the court are the most helpful tips. Thank you so much!
Super video, Thank you. Not only the content is great but the presentation is very methodical, clear. Two thumbs up!
Very good tips. Fixed my tossing problem immediately.
I played this evening and focused on first 3 tips and that helped a lot. The J toss helped with tossing balls toward the net. Thank you very much! You are a great coach!
What a brilliant coach! Such a good explainer.
The "J" toss helped me to toss the ball in front and not over me! Thanks a lot! Great videos!
Really enjoyed the J toss discussion. I’ll be going out on the court today and filming myself with iPhone on a camera stand. Really getting a lot from your instruction. Thanks, Doug
thank you helped me a lot
I 've always been struggling with my toss and your tips sound great ! I have just tried and combined the 3 first ones and my gosh... it seems to work ! I feel the ball is at the right place in the air :) . Thanks !
Great vid! One thing that has recently worked for me is to completely relax the hand that tosses the ball, almost making the hand feel weightless - which I guess means a much looser grip, and then less spinning as I throw it up.
incredible!
super useful!the no1 tip glass holding thing.
Ciao, this is Antonio from Italy. Really appreciated your way to teach. Easy, clear, practice. Thanks 👍🏻
The glass of water and the J toss really helped. Tried it today first day back out of lockdown. Also the serving video combined with this video has helped massively. Can’t thank you enough.
Hi Ryan, I like all your video great tips! Thank you.
Great tips! My biggest problem with the serve is actrually the toss. Can't wait to put your tips in practice!! I'm sure my serve % will improve dramatically.
Tossing slowly. .. the Brits are gonna love that.. 😂😂😅😅 great vid mate !! 👍
I don’t get your joke. Thanks for watching!
Amazing, Ryan you became my favourite coach!
I am clear on the J motion to toss into the court. However I would like more instructions on the trajectory of the toss in the vertical plane described by the baseline, ex where the ball should land for a first serve, for a kick/second serve, slice serve, etc. Maybe you’ve already posted such a video! Much appreciated, thank you!
I have been watching serve vidoes in UA-cam for years. while most of the good ones are covering the same concept like your video, this video by far is the best !!!.
During my self teaching serve, I found the key steps are :
Hitting the birthday hat at right time , relax arm such that my arm can supinate by istself ( not forcing it to supinate, not thinking about racket approching the ball on edge at all) ,and most importantly explosion toward the ball while staring at the ball.
Many many thanks.
awesome...u are one of the best for beginners and mid level,,,no doubt
Great tips! I really liked how he explained the biomechanics of each tip. I've been struggling with a consistent toss for years and now I know why.
Hi Ryan, just realised your channel. I tried your toss way holding the ball like a glass of water.
It’s really work. The tennis ball wouldn’t spin too much, go wrong way.
Really thanks for your video. You solve my problem about the tossing consistency. :)
The J toss and that all the pros toss the ball slow were great tips!!!!
Thanks Ryan - I have recently joined a tennis club and playing regularly for the first time in my life. Your tips are fantastic and so well explained. Keep up the good work, I am making rapid progress in my game, after only about 6 weeks...some people seem to think I was always a good player, but just rusty ha ha ha. My goal is to make the mens team by next season, we'll see.
Hi Ryan
Great video again !!
Thanks !!
I just tried the serve holding it like a glass of water and it does make my toss so much more consistent. Thank you!
When I struggle with toss, it is certainly because of the wrist flip..again a great tip on how to approach this movement. - super!
I love you coach🥰😘. I been struggling to get correct the toss for last 16 months! but you have made it very easy and very comfortable with one word as “ Imagine like holding the glass of water “. It’s really awesome. Love you 😘
Wow a new concept of holding ball like a cup of water, I can’t wait to try that !!!!
Super good!
You great great coach..that what i have to say❤❤❤..my son alwys following you.
Best coach
Perfect coach
Great tips, thank you! For me the best is to slow the toss down. I've noticed that if I slow it down and toss more deliberately that I am much more consistent. Thank you so much for your great videos.
your the first coach who is able to explain it in a simple and effective way. And also how the mechanics work😬
All tips make sense! Brilliant! Love all your videos.
Thanks so much Alka!!!!! 😊🎾👍
Nice points of view
Dude this is fascinating. Helps so much! Thank you!!!
So glad the video helped you!
Please add more complete serves motion and hits to see and learn.
Theory plus example!!
Thanks. Good video.
Do one on how to increase power on the forehand and backhand.
Great man!!! 👏👏👏
That's great, thanks! I can't wait to try your suggestions: I had already noticed that keeping the tossing arm straight up gets things better (when I manage to concentrate, which doesn't frequently happen 😬), but the "glass water" really sounds like a game-changer. I'll let you know when I'll crush my opponents with my 180 km/h serve 😂
My left bicep disengaged and/or disconnected from my left shoulder because of not holding the ball like a glass of water. My toss was going over my head and behind my back. Three different coach's thru the years did not know how to correct my toss instead made me consistently made me strain. These were coach's in high profile clubs in California (Palos Verdes) and Chicago. Thanks for sharing your coaching with players who are dedicated to being good club players and having fun doing so.
Cant wait to try it on the practice tomorrow... These tips helped me to improve the serve... But I was struggling with the toss! Thanks again Ryan for sharing all your experience!
When you turn your shoulder it appears you are then tossing out toward the court?
Awesome!
Excellent! Thank you very much for uploading! It is very helpful.
I’m so glad you liked the video!
Very good tips - can’t wait to try all five!!!!
Wow thanks Patricia! Appreciate the support!!
Great tips. Another great video. Thanks Ryan!
Thank you so much! Your comments are always so kind. 😊
Thanks a lot!
Excellent tips ! Will try them all but in 5 seperate series so I can ingrain each of them as a good habit.
Awesome. Let me know how they work for you!!
Yes...it makes sense. Holding the ball like a glass of water should help me...thank you!
Excellent. I love your analogy. Holding the ball like a glass of water and your famous birthday hat. It worked beautifully for me.
Please do a video on double handed power drive.
You're the best online tennis teacher I came across! Saw many videos and they are very useful! Thanks
Wow!! What a compliment. So glad you feel the videos are helpful. You just made my day!! 😊🎾👍
I came from the serve video. That was the most comprehensive serve tutorial I've had seen. It's already working on my serve! THX!
Hi Andy!! Thank you so much!!! I appreciate your support and kind words!!
ur great Ryan
Ryan, I try your tips holding a ball like
glass and play some games. I have no double fault. I used to place a ball on my palm so that my tosses did not have constancy. I repeated incorrect tosses again and again. Today, that is improved. my long time trouble is solved! Thanks!
Great video my man Ryan
Great simple tips mate
Really appreciate the support Rajesh!
