The song always reminds me of Pokemon TCG on Game Boy rather than the main game when it's in 8-bit.

I love how the 8-bit version makes the melody of the Tera-Form part much more “clear” as apposed to the original chanting version. With this version, I can clearly imagine a lyrical cover in magical girl style

Yes it does. The song has different sections depending on the number of Pokémon’s defeated, whenever you’re at advantage or disadvantage and when your Pokémon’s faint and you choose your next one. Also, the theme for the gym’s ace is an absolute banger

I’m talking about the idea that the main gym theme before the final mon has variations for when you’re losing/your mon faints/etc, I only knew it had variations for every new enemy mon
man listening to this just makes me think how cool it would have been if each gym leader had a different version of the battle theme to fit their character

Tulip was the first 4-pokemon leader i faced, and when the second phase played i thought they added the mysical sounding backing track specifically for her fight.
I wish remixes would have the vamp at 2:00 play for a little longer. It's such a neat moment when all of the instruments drop out while the Gym Leader talks before the transition into the Tera theme

The Tera part in 8 bit would work so well for final Gym Leader Pokemon in Red/Blue, especially Misty's Starmie, Erika's Vileplume and Sabrina's Alakazam
I love the final phase, but I didn’t realize that the vocals actually held it back until hearing this. It sounds so much more cheery like this, went from a solid 7/10 to a 9, good job!

I love the tera part of the song, it only happens on the Gym Leaders last pokemon. Im sure the last time the song changes in a gym battle was gen 5

Also, as much as I love the gen 5 soundtrack, having the song potentially go from "Gym Leader" to "Leader's Ace" to "Low Health" back to "Leader's Ace" is just. _no._
Like, it's not even that hard to get. Just the leader sends their last pokemon, they attack, getting you into red health and you eat a berry. Boom. The song changed completely four times in 10 seconds.
This approach is much better, and if they ever bring back the Low Health songs they should make variations like this.

@@ARandomMinecraftVillager i understand what u mean by the song switching a lot. thats a common gripe for battle themes, for example in xenoblade chronicles 1, or in pokemon bw like we mentioned. my personal favorite approach is having a central battle theme, that can get more or less intense in different ways depending on the circumstances. that way, you can push the intensity of certain moments without an interruption to the tune you're listening to!

I wasn't as big of a fan of this game's gym leader music, but I do think it's fitting, and it's definitely not bad. The gyms in this game are a lot smaller l compared to the gyms in sword and shield where gym battles were a huge event. I do like that change in dynamic. The ending is nice though, it was similar in sw/sh, and it just feels very warm and adventurous.
This makes the gym leader battle music listenable
I _love_ the sound of this, but some things seem a little bit off. For example 2:26; the D# should be D. There's also some pitch bends in the original which weren't replicated, but those are more forgivable considering that it's an 8bit remix

I personally didn't like the Gym leader themes a whole lot - in fact, they were pretty much the lowest in my personal ranking.
But, this chiptune cover? This is awesome! Sounds so cool and well done. The reverb works wonders here for the dynamicness. Love this a lot.

I try to find 8 bit versions of the pokemon battle themes because the actual melody stands out better under more limited soundboards. I have to say Scarlet just does not sound like pokemon battle music anymore. It sounds like decent generic battle music. But pokemon always had some distinct rules their battle songs went by that set them apart. That unique identity seems to be gone now.
My man, you're so wrong in every thibg you said. Pokemon SV has one of the better soundtracks I've ever heard of Pokemon. In all case, you are being the generic hater here

@daddy jones what i mean by generic is it sounds like a song that could be found in any other video game. Pokemon music wasn't just great. It was unique up until sun and moon. You could always tell a Pokemon battle theme apart from a song from another game.
