This interpretation's quite interesting for me. I haven't seen this song done this way before. The hurt when she asks why Jekyll did not see her himself carries over to her singing. It's like she couldn't believe that she could have what she longs for, even if she really wants it, like she's both angry at the world for being so cruel and begging the world to prove her wrong for once. Compared to the usually happier takes on this number, this was angstier and rather refreshing.
She made a good song a great one with this one-of-a-kind performance...and it fits the story even better, because the happier tone of the original would only fit if they actually showed her leaving
This young lady belongs on the Broadway stage! She has a beautiful voice and it so much emotion in her songs! Kudos Olivia! Saw the videos of Ghost and you did fantastic in that show too! Such a talented young actress!
She knows that she is unable to leave. Inside, she wants to be free and yet she is trapped in more ways than one. She is trapped financially, mentally and in love. She can not get out the situation that she is in at the moment. Jekyll is offering a chance to get out of London while she is still able to. He gave her hope for a better life. He knows that this is the only way that she can be safe from both him and the evils of society.
Talent with a capital T!!! Bravo!! Such a heartbreaking song (especially knowing what is going to happen in the very next scene). I love these productions. So many of these talented young people will no doubt grace the Great White Way for years to come!❤

She is in character... she made herself into Lucy... while she is on stage, she is no longer herself... What lucy feels, she feels. When lucy is hurt, she is hurt. When lucy is heartbroken, she is heartbroken. Lucy's dreams are her dreams That's the joy of acting. The joy of being on stage ( sorry for going on a bit of a tangent... this song makes me emotionally raw and appishiate the theater so much more)
Tuning issues, changed the phrasing and the melody. Some awful bum notes and lots of shouting and lack of control .. she rewrote it 😂 But ironically with lessons she would be good .. she can sing but just murdered this song!
