    When I made some shopping bags, I knitted bottom in either garter stitch, seed stitch or the linen stitch, I then picked up stitches around the bottom and stated knitting a matching band for an inch or so and then started the diagonal stitch.I also mad3e the top border to match the lower band. I have gotten many compliments on them.

    Hi y'all! So just a tip that I used while making this instead of sewing the bottom do the body stitch except for without knit two together. I cast on 4 and made the bottom like this.

    I just started knitting a couple of weeks ago, and was able to follow this pattern all the way through. Thank you so much! I ended with a fast decrease of stitches instead of sowing a rectangle shaped bag together, and I think it works just as well with the style. I didn't write it down as I went, but I believe I did something like: decrease row 1: *k2tog, k1, repeat from *. Row 2: purl across. Repeat until you have less stiches than you can handle on the loop, then run the yarn through the remaining loops and finish off. Here was my finished product:

    By the way, that yarn was purchased by my mother either before I was born, or shortly after so it's about 30 yrs old. She never used it, and I didn't know if I could do it justice until this pattern. Thank you again!

    Hi, I just saw you for the first time on youtube. Can't wait to knit your beach bag. I have been looking for an easy pattern and this is it. Where did you get your cone of Peaches and Cream. I have some small individual ones that I use for dishcloths but have never bought a cone of anything. Hope you are having fun! So happy to come across your page.

    I love the look of this bag! Do you have any more bag patterns?

    Hi! I love this pattern. I'm making it for my mother-in-law for Christmas since she moved to Florida and no longer has the need for cold-weather gear.
    I'd like to finish this bag flat rather than cinching, so I have two questions for you about lining it up. Do you line it up stitch 1 to stitch 112 (putting the straps just to one side of the bag ends), stitch stitch 5 to stitch 6 (putting the straps on either side folded in half), or stitch 33 to stitch 34 (which lays the strap on top of itself in the center of the bag)?
    My other question concerns the seam where the first and last stitch join in the openwork portion of the bag. Mine has come out as a diagonal. When I tried to line the bottom and top up appropriately in the ways I've listed above and straigten out the seam so it is vertical, it bunches weird and if I try to flatten out the pattern, the two ends no longer line up. Is that a matter of blocking it once it's finished, or did your seam have a diagonal.
    Thanks again!

    Hi, I’m curious if anyone has figured how much yardage is needed for the bag? I’d like to use a Sugar n Cream super size skein (200 yards) if possible. Thanks!

    Hi, I enjoy watching your videos a lot. They are very specific. Thank you. I find it quite confusing for the kitchener stitch needed for the project. Am I right to say that step 5 is not needed? I just have to repeat from step 1 to step 4 right?

    If you used acrylic wool would it be strong enough?

    Just wondering how sturdy this bag is, and how well it stands up to many books and Sun tan lotion and snacks , etc. I am thinkinkg of making this, or a felted bag if this one isn't as sturdy. Thanks!

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  10 років тому

      It will hold up pretty well. I wouldn't suggest "ALOT" of stuff, but just normal amount would be fine. You could also add cardboard to the bottom of the bag for more stability.

      Thanks. Yes, I did. I picked the openwork pattern and the pattern for the strap. Figured out the best size for a nice big beach bag and turned out this. Glad you like it.

      Yeah I do. What I'm really impressed with is how you designed this yourself. See I'm still quite new to knitting and I'm still not 100% on how to design a pattern myself I mean it's not like beading...is it? Lol well same go's for crocheting I just wing it I been crocheting for like 3 years though. Still don't know how to design patterns though I gotta figure out how to design my own patterns looks so hard. Well I do love it hope the beach was fun.

    Hi. How is the diagonal openwork row 3 suppose to end?
    I did make sure I did the K1, then start the YO, K2tog repeat but when I got to the end I had one stitch left. And if I continue with that pattern I would have a YO then that last stitch but then that would leave me with more than 112 stitches...would be great if you did a tutorial showing how you did the bag

      Was this ever replied to? I'm in the same predicament. I followed the pattern correctly and there is 1 stitch left at the end. Should I just start the knit straight across?

      I'm working on just the pattern as a video itself. But just knit it and continue, it should work out fine.

      I realized I forget the K1 at the end of Row 3. The written pattern has been changed. Pattern video will be up tomorrow.

    Morning I find my diagonal line goes awry.
    When I do the knit one yarn over row I have to go over my stitch marker and it moves a stitch forward with each koyo row. is this right or am i really missing something here?
    Is there a tutorial on the knitting of the body of the bag?
    this would help me so much
    Jen

      Make sure for Row 3 you K1, then start the YO, K2tog repeat. That should keep your line right.

    can you use size 6 with a 29"circular cable.

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  10 років тому

      Yes you can. Using size 6 will just make your pattern and bag a little smaller/tighter.

    is this big enough to use as a laundry bag? could I use plarn?

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  9 років тому

      It's like a tote size. You could always keep working the pattern to make your bag bigger. A laundry bag is a good idea. :)
