You guys need to go back to Sims 3 for a minute- Sims 3 with all expansions has fewer counters than Sims 4 with *no* expansions, by half! Sims 4 has twice as many out of hte box as Sims 3 got over its entire run, AND they all have several variations where some of hte Sims 3 counters don't even have islands. Sims 4 is swimming in counters!

@@GuyWithoutACamera The bar is not "basically a counter". Counters have, what, 6 or 7 unique models for different purposes? The bar is one large model. The work still has to be done to boil it down into a counter, and then make variants on that counter, and then make a wall cupboard variant, and then make variants on that wall cupboard. Each idnividual counter in Sims 4 has more modeling involved than half the counters in Sims 3 entirely.

Completely plausible, since one of the shows you can be invited out to is about (The???) Pancakes! So that's probably actually spot on and absolutely correct lol. I love it though, it brings me joy for some reason

@@Iron_Stigmata I don't like using CC in my game, mainly because most builds I create end up on the gallery and it's easier to not use CC. I make an exception for the Pufferhead pack for my own non-shared gameplay because if I have to use those kindermade toddler beds one more time... lol

I expected more Clutter items to be fair. When I went to uni I tried to fit my whole life into one tiny room.. There was stuff everywhere
The style of the University pack is poor, so you wouldn’t really have lots of clutter
Well when you are poor like most university students you tend to keep as much stuff as possible because 1. You don't know if you will need it again 2. You don't have the money to buy stuff 3. When you leave you tend to give stuff away to other students because it makes moving easier
All of this means you have a lot and I really mean a lot, of stuff.
Meanwhile there’s people living their entire life outta one tiny room and they arnt in Uni lol

It just hit me that the get together pack could work really well with university, you could totally make a study group club or like any kind of club actually works really well in the context of university
Doris Garifallou I feel like get together’s club system works so well with all the packs, I always get a bit excited about how I can use it whenever we get a new one! Study groups will be great. Could also make a soccer team, debate team etc.

as an american, the biggest culture shock i’ve gotten is realizing that giant gaps that you can crawl through in bathroom stalls isn’t normal for the rest of the world
When I went to america I almost wouldnt go to the bathroom in public. Or my mum would stand in front of the door for privacy because it was so unnatural to us
I’ve gotten stuck in a bathroom stall before the lock was rusted so I had to crawl out under neath 😂
Nobody was using the bathroom stall but it was locked anyway so I had to go underneath :\
That should not be normal in any country. As an American I hate those gaps
Ikr. The gaps used to be much smaller like 1/3 of an inch which i think was fine but now, goodlord, they’re like 2 inches wide on each side

The one thing that frustrates me so much about the Sims 4 is the lack of /new/ items. Yeah, it's nice to have more variants of an item, but they almost never add anything new. They make the same beds with the same animations, the same clutter items that you cannot interact with in any way. I want new things, new items with new interactions.
The entire buy/build mode just comes across as lackluster and lazy at this point. I want to have more unique items rather than the 30 new meshes of the same furnitures we've been getting over and over again. Also, no new bars EA. Please, no more.
haha! this is funny because i was thinking the opposite. Frankly, I'm mostly a builder, but I'm always thinking: i just want more variation of the same thing, not some new item!
@@katteycat The building part of the gameplay is fantastic, I won't deny that! Variants definitely add to it as well.
It's the live mode that severely lacks depth and entertainment, and the build objects don't help solve that issue at all (neither do the CAS items really.).
I guess that's a better way to word my complaint lol

Also. All there is a lot of windows that are only two tile wide. I have a lot of problems with even the base game windows. The standard window has a one tile one, or a two tile one with shutters. LIKE. What if I don't want shutters but I want the window to be placed in the middle of the wall I build. So annoying. If we can't place windows wherever we want we should have a two tile wide and one tile wide of every window. No one probably cares but I'm a builder lol and I DO

Yes, those content can be found in other sims games. But they made new animations for these in sims 4. Sims 4 was made from scratch. As in new engine.
I believe sims 3 just imported some animations from sims 2. Coz they have similar engine. I might be wrong though.
Having a balance perspective is IMPORTANT. we are aware that there are 1 million bars and toilets in the game but at the same time, they are making new items too. Just saying.

Is it just me, or does this feel like an expansion of Get Together? I’m not mad about it but I haven’t heard anyone talk about the similarities.
Same! I never bought Get Together because I always felt like the concept was "university life" but without the actual university
To me it feels like city living because of the campus and dorms
Think the "clown" like exterior stuff is meant to be like a old style sweet shop/milkshake shop kind of thing which is quite old english to go with the older style decor stuff

Always baffled me why sims did not have them by default, it's like...??? so much rarer to see showers with walls.

I love love love love love IKEA stuff. They could definitely do an entire pack again. :) I would have expected more sports related items as it's a huge deal in the US, but for our type of student life, this is probably sufficient.

Don't tempt them! They came out with a BOWLING stuff pack! :P (I don't mind some of the items, but I rarely use that pack & I find it so unnecessary as its own pack).
I think there's a lot of hidden items too. Like the robots you can build in the robot table.
One colour missing from most of the swatches: Purple. They have every other colour of the rainbow, where is my purple?! Other than that, it looks great. Friday needs to get here now!

I'm pretty sure he must have either recorded it there or got an early release that let him record it from home because he definitely was recording this while playing. After I read your comment I took more attention to what he said and what he did in the game at the same time and I'm almost 99 % sure it would be impossible to record this so perfectly fitted afterwards. 😅
He looks down at his mouse or hand when he selects new swatches so I think he didn’t do a voiceover.
He has all the packs in his build/buy, and normally when they’re at camp they only have the pack & base game so I think he might have just gotten early access or was able to bring his tower with him to sims camp (but idk how practical it would be to bring your computer tower on a plane from Australia to wherever sims camp was)

This pack is so amazing for tiny house builds. The mini fridge, shower, and wardrobe with the mirror are game changers. I hope you can do the move object cheat to put the mini fridge on top of a counter. Also, if they aren't doing it already, the roommate system should really be added to the base game for free. It adds so much game play value. That bar they are adding is also incredible for actual old world style bars/pubs/taverns. I'm really excited for this expansion.

Also sometimes with windows or doors they don’t want to click the other way when you’re using the mouse rotation and not keyboard. It’s easy enough for them to put in two and it make some people life slightly easier

About the bars, James: Make a bar street sort of lot where you have bars that are themed around every one of the bars :D
I am so happy for all the bright colours. That tends to mix well with get famous, island living and city living which is great
That poster is HEAVILY inspired by a Pink Floyd album cover. So in other words, yes, you can probably get pretty much exactly that poster, but just with a triangle instead of a plumbob.
I wouldn't mind having so many bars if there were counters that matched!
Your build/buy reviews are definitely my favourite. The kind of mock-up rooms makes everything spread out and clear enough that you can see everything that's there, but also gives you an idea of how things would look if you build actual rooms with them in your gameplay ^_^ Can't wait to see you gameplay when you can play with it properly

Thank you so much for this, James. I've been wondering about some of the things in this pack and debating if I want to buy it or not. Now that I've seen what it includes, I'm actually pretty excited. I've recently began a legacy challenge and have wanted some decent furniture and such for the house as the family continues and builds. This pack has a lot of things I'd actually use. There are also a lot of things to put onto commercial lots... so I'm happy about that too. I normally mostly enjoy re-decorating and re-designing the various pre-made lots and having nice things that make sense will really make that fun. I don't have all of the packs... far from it... but I generally buy them based more on what items and build things they have, than on what 'game' they bring with them. This looks like it has a lot of actual usable things... where other packs have mostly garbage. LOL

I love the really classic stonework they did on those Britechester windows and doors - I went to a really old uni in the UK and it just brings back so many memories. It just looks exactly like that.

I like the green on sandstone look of those doors/windows. Those were also my favorite of the build/buy items in Strangerville (minus the DIY light & bathtub which were very awesome too from that pack). Looking at the columns, windows, doors, and roof embellishments; already thinking of cute little pubs for the world that I want to build!
drinking game: take a shot every time James says the words "black" and "white"
I feel like for the left and right versions of the windows is cause some people might've had some trouble with flipping them? I know it's not hard but for newer builders they might not realize you can flip windows
White and black options are great and am glad they are doing that lately, but would also like for all the woods throughout the packs to go together as well. I don't use a lot of white or black tbh.
