Impulse was way ahead of its time and is still the best due to how many changes u can do to it like Karizma engine direct swap and still it is cheap to maintain and has great reliability...and light weight so u can conquer most of the terrain easily.
Hi, Xpulse owner here Matte Grey Fi 2000+ kms Max speed clocked - 107 Mileage-42 Best for Indian roads Superb shocks Built quality is good except the silencer guard and knuckle guard. Experienced heating issue near right foot during long commutes and a clicking sound after when the engine is turned off. Very very slight vibration after 95.(Handle bar and foot peg) Major breaking issue experienced whenever front suspension is compressed. Headlight look is good but performance is mediocre, straight light is just for namesake. Must depend on aftermarket stuff. The look of the pillion section is not that great, looks like platina, discover or glamour (Alterations recommended). Mirror view is fine. Instrument cluster feels like a full course thali, well arranged and readable in any light. I'm 5'4 and haven't faced any issues while city manoeuvring in busy cities even during peak hours. Adjusting back monoshock setting to 1 helps a little.(could be done by ourselves, but be ready to get your hands dirty). Seat is stiff and long rides might give you numb bum.(upholstery visit recommend) While driving over muddy patches, front tyre splashes dirt on the shin area of your pants. Normal if you are offroading but not a great impression you would throw if off to office. Overall a budget friendly premium bike. More powerful than impulse and easy to handle than Himalayan.
A friend of mine had an xtreme 200r. As you mentioned, the rear brake was crap. It wasn't that heavy, but while in traffic, it surely had shown sign of heaviness. The fuel economy was pretty mediocre. And the vibrations used to give vibes of an Enfield. But what i liked the most was the riding posture and handy torque which could just kick in from as early as 2k RPM, so the term "drop the gear and disappear" was really suitable to it. That's it, in 1.07 lakh, one can't ask more of it :)
Extremely balanced review. In fact, Hero had taken a big risk by bringing a bike like Impulse. In India off-road rider needed off-road bikes, but no other auto company was willing to introduce bikes in this category as the bikes in this category are not likely to get much response. However, it can be said for sure that Hero has attracted people to the market by eliminating the flaws in the Impulse and launching a dual purpose bike in the form of Xpulse 200, a great off-road and commuter. Thanks to Hero for this!😊
I don't know what is now happening in Indian off-road bikes. I am riding impulse since 2013. Odo is over 2 Lacs yet. Still riding. I will say. It's one of India's toughest bike ever made. Despite of some considerable cons, it's still gem for me.
@@Arham_fit it has got issues of now. I fixed it temporarily but it's not a real fix. It has become much stiffer now and I won't personally recommend you as this will lead some lower back issues. I enquired at the hero service and they said that unit is available at the plant but cost somewhere around 8k. The xpulse suspension unit cost cheaper but I am not sure if fits on an Impulse. Best I can say you visit a good dealership and force them to order it *VOR* priority with some extra pay. You may also see for other bikes monoshock like Honda or KTM. Hope for the best.
dont compare impulse with xpulse , impulse is king of offroad ...... i am a impulse owner. .2012 model....still i am using my impulse for 7 years i know impulse each and every thing....... when i test ride the xpulse 200 its engine is vibrating...impusle is smooth xpulse seat is not comfortable ...impulse is comfortable xpulse handelling and impulse handellings feels same impulse main feature dynamic accelaration ..... is not there in xpulse xpulse power is very low compare to impulse impulse is 150 cc but i reached top speed 115 km but it reach here like a jet when you accelarate xpulse is 200 cc but i dont feel a power compare to impulse..... when i ride xpulse i feel like other 150 ,200 bikes but when i ride impulse i feel like riding nothing like other bikes xpulse is good bike i not saying its bad bike ....for xpulse i rate 7/10 for impulse i rate 9.9 / 10 impulse only complaint light is not bright xpulse vs impulse rating xpulse 2 / 10 impulse dont compare impulse with xpulse or with another bike because its a unique bike hero pls sell impulse more if you can or give me another impulse with 200cc above power with same accelartion with that kind of torque impulse lover still
The impulse with a 120 profile is an absolute NO NO! You killed the puny engine... This impulse is definitely not going where a stock impulse can go... I'll try an get an impulse review for you and share a link, Do watch :/
The looks of xpulse has been spoilt by the stickers and graphics. They should have better graphics. Also the colour options should have been made available in FI version. Currently only three colours available in FI, two of which are Matt. Colour option in FI and carb should have been common. Eg normal black but it isn't available in FI.
I own Hero Impulse Since October 2013, She never Disappointing me, not even in terms of Power Output, I still Ride with Her. Although I perform some experiments with Exhaust mufflers, I concluded that Back pressure must not be tempered or else Engine performance will change accordingly. My Bike Still Touches 8000 revs very happily. But I like to Rev her around 6000 revs, not putting to much stress on engine. and definitely Hero Impulse 150 is not a Highway Bike because Gear ratios are too small. you cant touch 80 kmph without putting stress on engine. Now I will Change Chain Sprocket set in few days, so that its Top speed must be increased from 110 tp 125 kmph. This will effect Her Acceleration negatively though.
One more thing impusle too speed is 115 km not 110.....i reached 115 when racing with old r15.... Now my bike hits 110...because my tyres are big ones now...
Nissin Callipers, Excellent choice in my opinion but Endurance mono suspension not a cleaver choice atleast they have used Honda's mono suspension set up with higher travel.

Though impulse 150 was launched in india by hero... but it is a purely honda product.... sold as NXR 150/160 bros in international market with amazing colour schemes and still selling successfully in 150cc segment there..... i wish we still had this beautiful bike in our market...
These two bikes are being made by heromotocrop first of all for city roads and for offroad light weight compared to himalyan these two beast are perfect for city road and offroad for daily commute I choose these kind of bikes because high cc not worth in City roads takes bums and pits these two bikes but I choose impulse I have 2 impulse recently I have being using impulse almost 6 years have come to city roads and I do solo ride I feel comfortable on impulse and somewhere it is little bit underpowered but hero gives good built quality and performance 💪👊 ❤️ I love it and I'm enjoying it
Both acha model xpulse, old achiever... same honda shine, unicorn... honda is standard company no change the model. But hero no pice of standard (mind) company. Passion, super splender, glamour, hung no change the model. but good beautiful model xpulse, achiever change the hero can't improve...
We have taken impulse for road trips multiple times, we ride for over a week in the roughest roads available in the northeast regions. This particular bike is like no other bike, and yes it can easily take 6-700km @80-100. We have ridden it and we own it since 2012 so we can assure you that. We do have videos and pics of our travels as proofs if needed. This bike wasn’t entirely build by hero, it’s a Honda platform motorcycle, based on the nxr bros 160. (Check the net) it was a very successful model in Brazil too besides Japan. The review was amazing but I really feel one must dig in deep and do more homework for a comparison video. Xpulse is just a regular bike with on/off-road goodies forced onto it, no doubt it’s updated but impulse is a totally different motorcycle compared to xpulse .
Since xpulse is latest one, no doubt it better than impulse but the seat sitting posture is hopeless for the pillion or back. As well as, as u said the built finish and look also is worse. Hero should had upgraded impulse at xpulse level on same chassis and look than launching xpulse,... then surely I'd go for it. But since its comfortablity and sitting posture is hopeless I m going for Himalayan, though I'm not body build person.
Don’t buy this bike ...hero engine is not that reliable and more over after same service is poor ...you will have more expectations from this bike ...but not good ...

Comparison for the information sake is alright however it's not useful as the impulse is not available anymore. Xpulse is what we have now and more than comparison we need ownership reviews, comparison to xpulse in real time there isn't any as in my opinion himalayan though the same breed its not the same still. Personally I feel xpulse is a good package for the money than RE which is more expensive and powerful.

You can use some other models' suspension with some modifications. You'll have to ask a good mechanic for exact replacement options
