Captured from the N64 & PSX Version of the game
Extreme Racing.
Emulated on WinVista with Project64 (Nintendo 64),
PSX emulation done with ePSXe.
Music: (Ingame) Pulp Country & Desert Walk...

I remember when I was a kid I found the second one ONCE and could never get into it again. I was so shocked and mesmerized by it. Just one of those magical gaming moments that can never be recreated.
So cool!
I remember the day my friend and I discovered this cave like it was yesterday. It melted our brains. It felt like we found a whole second game hidden in this little track.
I remember only playing the easter eggs. I can't remember how I came across them though in a internetless era
This was big part of the fun, being able to stumble upon them by pure luck or exploration, I remember it blew my mind at the time !!! Then spending hours trying to find other things like this in the circuits, actually not playing the race part of the game haha :)
That's what made the Rush series fun to play. Not only were there all kinds of shortcut but hidden stuff to find which encouraged exploration. Rush 2 and 3 were both 40-50 hour games just trying to collect all the keys, coins, and MD cans.
i remember spending all my allowance on "tips & tricks" magazine to see if there were any cheats for this game.
I found the first one on my own. as a child, that was super exciting, especially when my older siblings didn't believe me till i showed them. The stunt track was a prototype for a later version of the game which included stunts as a main part of the game. a lot of fun.
I wish I could go back and see my 8 year old self discovering these for the first time
My neighbor and I use to play this for hours back in like 99' we finally got the car onto that upper platform in the cave after so many attempts. It is now an N64 classic for sure.
I never found that first one, but I found the second one and i was pretty proud of myself.

Same. Honestly, the second one on level was WAY easier to find, simply because from the very first time I even played the level, I had already wanted to go there. The other one on level 6, that one was a purely random 1 out of a million guess. Who would have thought it even existed. At least with the one on level 2, you know it existed, it was just accessing it that made it difficult.
Stragon 01 it’s funny that you are talking about that. I never knew about the these being in the game when I had it a long BUT I had the GameCube version of it and I was just randomly racing in level 6 and i thought that route was a shortcut so I actually made it across and thats when I found that really big ramp. I always wondered if anyone else on the N64 or Gamecueb port also knew about this.
resurrect in place cheat code works nicely for those areas.

I remember finding both of those playing with my friend in 7th grade! I remember being overwhelmed at how insanely cool it was to have secret maps like that!
This has to be the best racing game franchise ever. Too bad it went downhill after Rush 2049. Such great memories...

this game was amazing. technically it wasn't much of a marvel -- its sound and music were laughably terrible and the graphics were nothing special -- but it really rewarded a sense of exploration, which is kind of rare in racing games.

SF Rush 2049 has a secret underground stunt room hidden in the 2nd track.

For reasons which have eluded me, the first hidden area was called "Pappyland."

I still remember the exact speed (in MPH) that you have to be going to get to the second secret area.

i always hated it when the car got blown up and took me back to the road T_T.
Little did we know that these stunt playgrounds would be expanded into the stunt mode in Rush 2.
i remember vividly a glitch/ Easter egg i found on one of the maps as a kid. you start with the van and choose the map where you start along the beach. All you need to do is turn right and straight into the water. The car will stall out as if you ran out of time, but keep rolling into the sea. Eventually, you just fall through the water and i swear there was a collectible located there. Haven't been able to recreate it, but know for a fact it happened.
I found all of these as a 5 year old long before UA-cam/ tutorials etc.. only your imagination. Weird enough my dreams of these games helped me find these secrets.

I poured hundreds of hours into this game on the N64 trying to find things like this as a little kid.

About second easter egg, turn right after looping and get speed to another looping to get the key no the top of looping!!!
I need to break this and the other Rush games for the 64 out so my nephew can play them.

BigBoi Yeah, definitely one of the now obvious reasons to not even think about playing that version. 32 bits just don't quite cut it in PS1's case for a home version of this open world 1996 3DFX-powered coin-up. Climax F××ked up big time with that one.

Holy shit, I've had this game for 15 years and I didn't know about the second Easter egg.
Damnnn I always tried to find things on track six but never been down that tunnel, the second one I always did though, so fun.
The annoying part about going to the secret under ground stunt course was that if you crashed you'd be immediately brought back up to the street......
Not if u used the cheat that spawns u in place....
Lol I found the first one wayyy back by going down there just too see what was down there and thought I was like the only person to ever find it haha
hold Z then press C down C up, C up C down.....I think that was the code to not get brought back to the track when you crash/ (or was it C left-Right, Right-Left)

A versão N64 mesmo com a pouca memória do cartucho ficou bem mais parecida com o arcade que a versão lixo do PlayStation.
A versão do PS1 foi feita por um outro estúdio usando outra engine.
