Funny rite ?? After The River album NEVER getting it's due respect from even Bruce n all things BtR or Darkness or Nebraska even USA bc of the scope of it all got plenty of attention BUT FINALLY wen the time came not only did Bruce n the boys do it but everyone looked back n took it all in and the only album to get a whole tour on it all the best shows and 2016s biggest tour like 81. Finally it became the classic it truly always was n after USA it's their beat seller even passing BtR bc BtR sales were thru time not while onnits rum on the charts. Jesus, The River LP went from # something in Top 40 debut then wk #20 something wk#3 it was 4th best album in USA and wk #4 it went to #1 for 4 wks n stayed for almost whole yr in top 10 then 20 then 40 just like Hungry Heart single. The single alone made him rich. The double album hefty in price during a recession still 2.5 mil from Oct 17th to Jan 1st 81'...I mean if I made a mistake it was #8 wk 2 after top 20 or so debut and wk 3 it was at 4 then 1. Album just dominated AND top 10 in 13 different countries..finally after 4 albums on the 5th one they became international future hall of fame rock n rollers n rich. And went from 3 thousand seat Halls to 20 thousand seat Basketball and Hockey Arenas
That mixing guy cannot do a proper mix. This is yet another show from the classic era that he ruins. The very lifeless snare drum is alone mixed twice as loud as all the other instruments together. It's like you're living inside the snare drum in Max Weinbergs very little drum booth with no ambience at all. This doesn't give you a feeling of a live concert. This sounds like an on-the-fly mix of the FoH. But in stereo. Still dry and still lifeless. Just snare, snare, snare... Just listen to every fill-in that Max does - the flow in the music just stops. Concert is 5/5 Mixing is 1/5. Please Nugs/Bruce/Landau - get a pro as your mixing guy.
@@stianmathisen4284 You criticize it for sounding like the Darkness album? Most fans rank Darkness as 1 or 2 best Springsteen album. The mix here is fine. For the frequency of releases and for what you pay, JA does a good job. BC is far too expensive for these type of releases.
@temporarystranger95 not for nothin most fans rank Darkness as the best album YES BUT NOT bc of the production value. On the contrary they almost all agree in that category it is waaaay below par as easily noticed on the master Bob C job on both The River masterpiece n it's mammoth sales n love by both commercial n critical success it has as well as USA. Again, sound is muddy n stuffy on DOTEOT album yet fans believe song content n rawness of tour that supported it ranks highest among Tramps. As for me imho I disagree and will ALWAYS b a RiverTramp for Again IMHO for wat it's worth The River is the peak for the boys. In album, Springsteen's songwriting prowess his output of high quality as well as his best constructed songs n mostly power pop n pop gems n classics. To me, the best album is The River and the 2nd best STILL isn't Darkness OR Born To Run but instead #2 overall masterpiece album is Disc 2 Tracks. The 7ish to 11 or so Power Pop slash Pop slash pure straight forward Rock and Roll, gems on that "throw away" album r Hall Of Fame material for most bands. The proof is there. Be True/Roulette/Where The Bands Are/Take Em As They Come/I Wanna Be With You/Loose Ends/Restless Nights/Meet Me In The City Tonight ...that's 8 without stopping to think NOW add a longer just a tad, version of Held Up Without A Gun , a studio version of Trapped as well as same musical arrangements AND hook BUT different lyrics for Mary Lou and u can add Rendezvous and even tho Because The Night fits so perfect on Darkness STILL it would fit nicely as well around Point Blank and The Price You Pay. ..Bottom line u have either a better version of a 10 song A plus "singles" album than The Ties album that was the original then pulled OR even better do as Stevie and me thought and yes the ballads r great n u can leave in drive all night etc...not ez choices BUT pull 8ish and put in my original 8 and u have a River Double album that sells just under USA...Bruce was able to control his destiny still by slowing down The River hype by releasing Fade Away as 2nd single as well as goin on a 10 month HUGE World Tour BUT could have been double the tour double the album sales as well as The River title track as end single and OITS or Sherry Darling as 3rd single ALL top 10 to 15 again tho he did not want to b another Columbia Records stalemate of Billy Joel and album hits as opposed to albums. Hence after finally making it to where Columbia now had to work for him Nebraska proved wat Bruce wanted to do he did.
Wunderschön die Musik und Stimme von Bruce, super. 👍💓💓💓💓🎸🎸🎶🎶😍
Lordy, I probably have 25 versions of this song live from 1981-85 and this might be the best. Wow.

The mix on this is lousy! Too bad.
