I've said it before on your connecting builds video, but I'll say again, I'm a big fan of the minimal editing. Being able to scan all the details of your build while you talk is very satisfying. Also, I appreciate that your videos are about more broad strokes concepts. I don't really see videos talking about building in minecraft like this anywhere else.
Regarding 7:10, I believe what he is referring to here is the modification, not origination, of the make-up of the species of the Amazon Rainforest by the indigenous peoples who lived there thousands of years ago. While the rainforest did not originate from agriculture (it has existed for tens of millions of years), there is evidence that through polyculture techniques and fire management, the indigenous affected the amount of edible species that ended up proliferating in the forest in a pretty significant way. This would indeed be pretty cool to implement into your world, especially if you are building custom biomes. This could also be a cool new way of just thinking about the landscape/biome around your builds.
I found your channel through recommendations and I find your latest videos helpful for playing and building in my own survival world where I make my own civilization.
I just recently found your channel and it's giving me a lot of inspiration for a world I've just started to build. I would say perhaps with your defensive berm it doesn't make sense to have the outer side able to be climbed. Starting with the Romans and adopted later by many who were ruled by them a protective berm would be dug out from the outside and stacked up to create it. I've done something similar by digging down 3 blocks and across 3 blocks (Romans would dig 10 foot deep by 10 foot wide ditches) and stacking up that dirt for the berm. This creates an earthen wall that is difficult to scale and forces enemies into the fatal funnel that is the crossing towards your gates. Just a thought. Really love your videos and the deep thought process you've put into them.
Thank you for the suggestion! The earthen works bit is pretty simplistic but you're right that it might make more sense with a small ditch out front that makes the side steeper and provides building material for the mound itself
@serbobertross5948 Yea definitely. A sheer face to the wall makes it so you can imagine archers raining down arrows on attackers (or mobs stumbling in from the dark parts of the woods) I like the idea of purpose to my builds. I'm currently fleshing out a village that has profession villagers able to traverse in certain areas in and around their homes to give it a bit more life. Eventually I'll start collecting nitwits that can live in the basic homes along roads and such.
Im really a fan of the way everything is thought out while planning the build using art concepts and historical/cultural concepts, and this video made me realize how I use these too. I think maybe creating a discord server where people could share these types of build and talk about different things to help each other get better would be really cool
Great information again! Always adding the workflow! I'm glad you talked about world terraforming. Now if only I can remember the word diegetic going forward. I mentioned the idea myself in a video to cover up artificial looking terrain by blaming it on in-world people.
Y'know, at 11:43 I was thinking about certain political systems in the cities, like for example Newport is a Monarchy (I believe), while I image something like Al-Madinah would be more of a Theocracy. Also, another FIRE video !!
Thank you for the comment :) Al-Madinah is a weird one because it's kind of a half-baked plutocracy where the rich families in the city decide everything and compete to sponsor stuff like the walls and towers. Do you think I should go back to it and extend the city with something like an Emir's small palace?
@serbobertross5948 Ooohhh interesting, makes sense I suppose, as you've mentioned before in one of your videos that there is no real lordship, but wealthy families. Also I think it'd be interesting to expand Al-Madinah with a palace structure, though I don't see where it could be constructed.
@ I thought of it a long time ago but never felt inspired enough to do it. It would be directly north of the city accessible by a bridge over the river leading from the rich district, and have its own set of walls
@@serbobertross5948 WAIT that's actually an awesome idea, especially if you add like plants and more "protected" gate to these walls, though I wonder, which rich family would live in the palace ?
@ ooh more plants is a good idea. I would definetly add a small garden with water pools/fountains. I’m not sure which family would live there, but it will be interesting to find out :)

Slight problem at 2:02, I'm on Bedrock edition and can't find invisible item frames, not even by commands.... 2:18 I don't care I used to use cobwebs but now I use campfires, but for factories it'll probably be cobwebs. I'm not one to spend 10 minutes trying to get stained glass for some smoke perfect. 5:16 Good ideas there! I've been creating history books on what used to be in whatever location _before_ I built there, and things like that. I can copy and paste the only one I have so far if anyone wants to see. But that is a good idea, to be able to have micro communities too. 8:32 I know a path (not going to say since it'll give away my location pretty much) that has an embankment yet it doesn't work. But then later on the path seems to continue straight through the river instead of following the land around the edge of the river, acting like an embankment for the road next to the path (or where the path goes into the river, next to the river) EDIT: I could go on and on forever about your amazing tips so I'm going to stop here for saying this idea this this idea that
Always trying to improve is a great way to delay burnout :) Also, the plans since the first episode has been to make a castle there, unless you mean before the first episode?
I have a question for you. Do you think it's okay to build buildings that you can't enter? Like can't enter and no interior? I'm just wondering really.
I think its okay, yes. My build Texaca has no interiors. I will say though that I find those builds feel hollow, Texaca included. I genuinely think that a project where even 10% of the buildings have interiors is better than one where there aren't any. Likewise for builds with detailed exteriors but only really basic interiors, like you often see in Adventure Maps. I think the more the better, but I understand that sometimes doing only the exterior is just the way to go, especially when you have burnout.
@@serbobertross5948 It always feels hollow when you're the one building it. I was wondering because building interiors is something I cannot do in a small building 😂 I agree with you though, even only 10% of a build has interiors is better. I was wondering because I'm starting to finish something, which once I'm finished I can build a road out, and an empty road with no houses is unrealistic but I've not quite planned the house sizes so i wanted to know what you thought _before_ I plan some small houses then realise too late that I can't really fit anything in them
@@unstoppable2180 Plan them to be large enough for basic interiors. Even a 3x4 interior space allows you to put a bed, kitchen table, and some kind of storage like a chest, shelf, or barrel. Bigger interiors may be more interesting and varied but aim for the minimum, you can always go back in and improve stuff when new updates come out.
I'm amazed by your ability to not just build well but to connect the builds and make them realistic. Keep up the great tutorials!
I'm glad you like the vids :) I'll try to continue posting similar stuff for this town until I get close to the final tour
