Yeah! My favourite video series is back. I think the difference between the Vogue 2000 DVF wrap dress and this one is that the first one is for woven and this is for knits.

I agree, this collection is great, and as soon as they go on sale, I would grab a bunch of them!

The high armscye is a vintage feature, it alloqs for more arm mobility, and ia actually really comfortable and covers the 'bra fat' area well.

I agree. It's really comfortable in the version with sleeves, allowing more freedom in arm movement and less fabric bulk above the elbow. And it's a nice switch from armholes that are cut so low that sweaty skin against skin makes underarms feel hotter and bras peek out the sides, not fun. A closer fit should work just fine, especially in a knit fabric.

Your comment on the shoulder width being too wide in the bigger women’s size is spot on. As a designer I was taught when grading a pattern to widen the shoulder for every size, this is wrong as a woman gets heavier her bones don’t get bigger, her frame stays the same. When grading for Plus Sizes I do not give a lot to the shoulder just enough for the roundness that occurs. However I always add extra when grading the waist, as it’s always the first thing we loose as we gain weight. Unfortunately the rules of garment grading are often blindly followed without judgment.

This is a great series! I guess I enjoy a "fancy" life (opera, symphony, theatre, polo, museum events, charity galas, elegant daytime parties, cocktail parties, black tie/formal weddings, etc.), so I probably look at these patterns with a different eye. My take on V2037 is that I could see wearing it for evening (in a different fabric for the shacket) with the shacket on inside to combat agressive AC and then taking it off outside. My struggle is a lot of patterns aren't designed for my lines. I'm tall and do best in long, narrow silhouettes, so I was happy to see the pencil skirt with the slit and the trumpet dress.

I call them Pencil Pants because we don’t endorse smoking here. Haha.

Yes, DVF used to make wrap dresses out of 100% silk jersey. It was wonderful, densely knit material. Oh: I see they still do silk, but the prices have more than doubled since I last saw them at a department store.

    On 2026 the nightie
I was surprised it did not recommend bastiste. And doubled to avoid see thru.
If you don't want to do lace, you can smock the top layer and just use the lining of the yoke to back up the smocking. This type of pattern has been around for ages and makes the nicest wedding nighties.
    Non-stretch fabrics.

Thankyou for your thorough review … always great insights ! As you say a mixed bag , I’m liking the extended size range 👍. The Rachel comey jumpsuit looked good but I think I’d prefer it as a top and bottom for ease of wear tbh . Nice idea inserting lace/sheers into blouse and the Tom and Linda platt dress was lovely . I don’t think I’ll be buying any of them as I’m afraid my lifestyle ( and body type ) doesn’t really mesh with vogues aesthetic.

The blue jacket and crop top ensemble! You had me crying laughing. I was thinking where is she even going? And I wonder if Ms. Vogue would ever go to lunch with Ms. Butterick? For sure this lady and Mimi G would never show up in the same place in their crop top sets to have mimosas. All these thoughts, and then you busted out with "who signed off on this?" And I totally lost it! 😅😅😂😂 thank you! 😂

Lol at 51:30 (unisex) you noticed the awkward ease, even though they tried to airbrush out extra, awkward wrinkles (see her hand and the seam). Good job!

The first dress is my favorite - iconic, and I have to have it. Unisex patterns I do not even bother with, and the rest of the patterns were from eh to smh. Always enjoy going thru patterns with you - keep up the great work.

I hate the blue suit. The vest is a dumpy length, then with the cropped pants to cut your legs it would look awful on me.

I had a skirt like 2032 and the front seam ripped up because of the pressure. Not good.

I may not be the best person to comment on this, but I really get what you're saying about the "unisex" patterns. Maybe a marketing thing trying to appeal to those who are non-binary or transitioning? But heck, everyone deserves good drafting and good style. As you say, rather have options for men and women, maybe styled a bit more gender neutral, but still with appropriate drafting for the bodies they are intended for Because if nothing else, people want style, not some weird outfit marketed as unisex that's not going to fit anyone.

I like the blue pants and vest, but to my eye the proportions (lengths) are not right. I think the vest should be shorter.

Vogue V2026 I can picture 🖼 it with matching shorts in linen. Crocheting my own laces or rickrack😊. While the sailor pants /shorts is a hard pass due to its design. Vogue V2037 is supposedly an attempt at a capsule wardrobe at a resort. Or the person maybe cold in the morning yet come midday to late evening they're hot. V2035 I would separate the bodice from the pants. Turning them into two separate garments. With both pieces floating through my wardrobe effortlessly 😊. V2041 is a good stay at home garment 😊. V2028 resembles my dressing 👗 style 😊. I have been known to wear a minidress over pants. V2029 This dress definitely has a vintage 1970s vibes. I remember seeing it in the Sears Roebuck or Montgomery Ward catalogs during my childhood years😊.V2027 looks like a prom/bridesmaids dress. The majority of the patterns I already have to one degree or another 😊. Therefore I would be saving money 💵 😊.

You would think that the seamstress to sew 2027 would have been good enough to have the stripes on the short dress go straight across instead of being crooked under her bust.

V2026 looks like a night gown, actually baby doll night gowns I had in the 70's. Just, no. Maybe a night gown.

That teal suit 😮that is just such an unflattering silhouette for both top and bottom. That’s 70’s throw back that didn’t look good back then either .

No thanks, to unisex patterns and unisex shoe sizes! How often would they be better than a Men's vs Women's fit? I envy men's RTW for the superior fabrics, colors and workmanship compared to women's RTW, but fit is a problem. While some women's bodies adapt OK to the fit of menswear, most would need too many adjustments to make it worth buying the unisex pattern. It's easier to "masculinize" a woman's jacket pattern than to "feminize" the collar size, collar bands, armscye, sleeves, cuffs and hem. Look at the Vogue model: the jacket collar is way too big, as are the shoulders and sleeves. The pant crotch wasn't designed for female anatomy, and the bulge just gets worse with rounder bellies. Remind me, what's the point of sewing a custom outfit again?
