I love listening to you- your comments are important to people who don’t know how to pick patterns. I love to sew. Don’t sew for myself can’t find anything flattering for my 75 yr old frumpy body. If you run across a pattern that fills that need 😂remember me and those like me.
Thank you for taking the time to do these. They're fun to watch. About the MimiG dress and the issue with the hem hiking up in back. It's not a "straps" issue, it's her. Women with "ample" backsides often have that issue with hems riding up in back. Much like how the front of a blouse will pull up depending on how big the bust is. Same thing. She needs an FBA (Full Booty Adjustment) of the length of the skirt in back.
I think this is the best collection out of the Big However Many. I love the cargo pants and the puffball skirt, also the oversized shirt and those flared shorts. Some nice dresses too. Well done, Simplicity!
I always enjoy your reviews. Mens wear basics; pants, shirts, jackets , vests are made different and " trendy" are by fabrications and design details. The 80s retro tops and shorts were advertised as 1 yard.
I liked this collection it was young and fresh. I was surprised to see the short shorts and the balloon skirt. I guess that is what keeps us interested in fashion.
I used to make lots of skirts like the first one. I don’t think the skirt was as full. They looked great with long sleeved blouses, sweaters, and blazers with boots. I made them out of rayon. Easy, fast, great fit, win win.
On the first top and skirt the straps angling in will help the straps stay up. Most of our sloping shoulders would appreciate that. Not my styles overall
S9977...1 yard wonder shorts-I have the original. Made it way back then. Made it last summer for my daughter. S9965-i yard wonder tops...Got that one too-my mom in the 70s.
The big 5 dropping the misses sizes 4 & 6 to extend the upper range of misses instead of grading patterns on the women's block is my biggest pet peeve. It pits sewists against each other for no reason. According to their size charts the misses block is drafted for a b cup with a 2" difference between high bust and full bust. The women's block is drafted for a c cup with a 1" difference between high bust and full bust. I reached out for clarification because in what works is a 1" difference between high bust and full bust a c cup, but i was told the size chart is correct. Apologies for the rant I'm just frustrated with the big 5 approach to sizing.
No!!!! Some of us need the sizes 4-6. At 5’4” and 109 pounds, it’s hard to find modern patterns that are not huge even in the smallest size. Vintage patterns work size-wise, but at 57, I have to be careful about vintage styles so that they don’t look like a costume. Yes, extend the size range to the highest that people require, but don’t forget us petites and less curvaceous women in the process.
All the vintage stuff was labelled as one yard. That’s most likely why they only come in smaller sizes. once you get past a 16 you’d probably need more fabric so they wouldn’t be able to label it one-yard. It’s a gimmick.
I feel like for that 9950 pink dress, Madame Vogue lost the arm-wrestling battle to scrappy Ms. Simplicity! 😅 Like you said it looks very expensive, and that's definitely more on brand for Vogue. Cute!
The woman wearing 9948 is a bit larger with a thicker mid section (AKA belly). If that tie were put up higher wear it looks in drawings it would accentuate her belly which is not a look most women want, unless they are pregnant and want to show off the bump. As an older woman with a thicker mid-section I would wear it tied a bit lower and looser as well.

Thank you, this is exactly what happened. Every dress/skirt I wear that wasn't customized to me does this.

I totally agree!
Thank you! Nice presentation!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Greaat walk through! Have to say that the first little set is a standout to me!

I really like the first dress. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
best we've seen in awhile!

The dresses with the slouch low wrap would totally accentuate my pot belly!

I liked a couple of these!

Weird. The c should be 3” difference.

@@oldsoulmermaid1543 we are in agreement. I also hate when they drop the size 4 & 6

I agree. Who cares about yardage if I doesn’t fit most of their customers?
Thanks

Why would you even buy a pattern for 9953?
Skirt length differential on Mimi’s dress is a No way!
It's due to her waist to hip measurement not the pattern.
midriff
We skinny girls are sized out of this whole collection.
Well, no. I will not be picking up any of them. Nothing here I cannot get from patterns I already own.
I’m disappointed! The only women’s pattern is awful.
