Honestly the cleanest guide I've seen for Last Epoch. Knew most of the information but will definitely share this with my friends interested in the game.
I have always loved the idea of playing ARPGs, but I get easily overwhelmed by the affixes on gear and the massive talent trees (in Last Epoch, "Passives" and "Skill Specializations"). I ultimately start looking up build guides, and maybe find a few that interest me. Then I get frustrated because I'm just choosing a build because it has the highest damage potential, and it takes away the "discovery" feeling I get from learning and understanding build synergy for each Class/Mastery. Here, I find a video explaining exactly what I want: the ability to make my own decisions with some solid information on how to do that. I already had a good idea of how I should do this, but the author of this video does a great job of hammering down the essentials of how to create a build and what facets of damage and survival are the most important. At a length of 19:13, it still feels concise, and the author paces his voice well to where I don't need to rewind frequently to recall what was said. Subscribed and I very much look forward to future content, Manarith!
Very well done! I really appreciate your clear, measured delivery and that you don’t rush through your VO talking a mile a minute. And very well organized video, too. I don’t have this game (yet) but you just got another sub from me.
phenomenal video brother. I've played LE off and on over the past 2 years and getting really hyped for 1.0 and this video is just what I needed! No fluff, straight to the point and informative, but also entertaining to watch with my coffee. Seriously, great work! Viewers can hear/see how much you care and that my friend will take you a long way. You got my sub and future support!
Fantastic guide. I hope new players will get encouraged to play with their builds and have fun instead of sticking to "build guides" right from the get-go, missing the best this game has to offer in the process. Sub
Ive watched at least a half dozen "new player guides" and I got more info out of this one than the rest combined. Its not necessarily the amount of info so much as how easily digestible it was. Now that I actually understand some of what's going on here, you convinced me to buy the game.
A couple of precisions I feel need to be made : - Damage over time doesn't work like in most game. There are two type : Skills that do damage over time directly (for example : Disintegrate or Maelstrom), and Ailments. Damage over time skills scale with attack type (generally Spell damage) and don't trigger "hit" effects. They also can't crit (as a general rule, effects that don't "hit" can't crit). Apart from that, they mostly work like regular skills. Ailments are effects that are applied on "hits", and act as a debuff with generally a damage component (but not always) for example : Ignite. Ailments are special in the sense that they don't scale with flat damage or attack type like Spell damage. They have a fixed base value, and only scale with Damage type (like Fire damage will scale Ignite damages) and Damage over Time. They are debuffs with a fixed timer that can stack (some can have unlimited stacks, other can't) In other words, if you want to build around ailments, you don't care about flat damage, crit, and so on. What you want is a lot of attack speed (to generate a lot of hits as fast as possible) and appropriate Damage type (like Fire Damage) and Damage over Time. You don't care if the skill itself doesn't do a lot of damages, what you want is a skill that hit very fast (like for example Flurry). - Damage multipliers : they are the main way to boost your dps, you want as many as you can. However how do you know what is multiplicative, and what is additive ? It's simple : anything that is labelled "Increased damage" is additive. It means that if you have 100% increased fire damage, and 100% increased spell damage, then your Fireball spell will hit for 300% of its base damage. Anything labelled with "More damage" is multiplicative. If you have 100% increased fire damage, and 100% more damage to Fireball, then your Fireball spell will hit for 400% of its base damages. So be on the lookout for these "more" multipliers (generally in the skill tree), they are the best way to scale up your damages. Of courses, things like crit chance or attack speed also act like multipliers. So what's the difference between Fire damage and Elemental damage, if they work mecanically the same ? Well it matters when it comes to affixes that can appear on items. For the same level of affixes, you'll get a higher value in Fire damage than you would get from Elemental damage. As a rule of thumb, specialized affixes can get higher values than general affixes. that's why it's better to focalize on one specific damage type (like Fire damage) instead of more general one (like Elemental damage). - Resistance are not as important as it may seem. Don't get me wrong, they ARE important. However, they're are not as fundamentaly important as they are in other games like PoE for example. There is one thing important to know : monsters get a systematic 1% resistance penetration for each of their level (capped at 75% penetration at level 75). And it changes things quite a lot at high level. In a game like PoE, a character with 0 resistance will take 400% damages from the same hit, compared to a character with 75% resistance. It's a huge deal. However in LE, as monsters at lvl 75+ all have 75% penetration, a character with originally 75% resistance will get hit exactly like he had 0% resistance, while a character with 0% resistance will get hit like he had -75%. It means that, compared to character with 75% res, a character with 0% res will "only" take 175% damages from the same hit. Not something you can ignore, but the difference is far less drastic than in other games. In short, yes resistances are important, but not enough to prioritize them completely other the rest. It's at least as important to get as much life you can get, get to 60% endurance and 100% crit avoidance. Each class generally also get access to other type of powerfull defense. You can be perfectly fine at high level with 50% all res, as long as you have enough of the rest.
thank you for explaining. It's nice to see that you can specialize in one type of damage like fire/ignite dmg, as POE does often counter builds as a trap for players who aren't alert enough or built like tank with an oil tycoon budget.
Wow this was a complete eye opener for me. Just picked up the game, and was feeling pretty overwhelmed. I tried looking at recommended builds and felt even more confused. The way you've explained everything in this video has me super inspired to just play the game my own way and try to make something awesome.
Thanks for the guide, def one of the best I've seen! I also did not expect you to use the cookie the way you did in that analogy but hey it got the point across haha
Thanks for the video. You just melted my brain. Just jumped back into the game for the first time since 2021 and there's such a change. (obviously 😀 ) Looking forward to 1.0 Cheers!
Funny thing about the idols is that since D2 introduced talismans, I was preaching they should have had their own separate slots / inventory section available to arrange as you please within certain space limits. That would stop the very unfortunate situation when people fill their inventory with talismans because they are too powerful to skip. Idols and separate slot for these is as if someone finally listened to my prayer lmao. I love this solution so much.
What makes this guide so effective is the little details that are easily overlooked, like " be sure to do side quests to unlock all idol slots". Those details could literally unstuck somebody, ..like me lol.
Thanks man, feels amazing knowing you enjoyed the video! Isn't the balance wild? Don't think I have played an ARPG with this much viable build diversity

The fact that starting completely over, finishing the same exact story quest and side quests. Getting gear, reaching end game only to do it over again. I totally get some are into that just not me.
Well you are in luck cause you don't have to, and you will still have access to everything that everyone else does, just won't be able to compete on the cycle leaderboard that's all, no worries my friend play the game however you want

Hey, nice video. Very informative, something that I really needed to understand the game. I have 2 suggestions about feature videos: 1. A Video about explaining what type affixes are better to get on different items. For Example: Its Better get Defensive stats (like resistances) on Helmet, Body Armor and Offensive on Weapons, Rings. 2. A video about Crafting, since that will be the most crucial part of the progression. Maybe few examples with Items that are worth crafting on.
Appreciate the video suggestion! Absolutely, I want to start working on a crafting guide coming up, gotta make sure it is perfect, thanks for watching my guy
I haven't had the chance to create build guides for my characters just yet, but if you are looking for the hammerdin build you can find something similar on maxroll.gg for now! Thanks man
Very clear general guide 👌 I played the early access for about 300 hours, I will delete all my lvl 100 and start fresh and blind, no guides. I cannot wait for 1.0 🤗
Nice video! i started playing a few weeks ago so this is good to see. "the two classes that are harder to play in endgame are the shaman and the spellblade" *looks over at my shaman and spellblade because they sounded good* "....oh" this should help me focus those builds though because right now my shaman is all over the place. Granted, I am also still level 33
Yeah Shaman is a tricky one, I think it is because it attempts to scale so many damage types in the skill trees with not enough defensive passives, compared to other classes. But I do have a friend that consistently makes some really good Shaman builds so it is possible! Thanks for watching my guy
Great video man! Absolutely astonishing job! Managed to understand everything I need to make my own builds! Can never achieve that in PoE even after 5k hours lol So excited for Launch =)
Oh and dude there is way more you can do with it, i'm doing smite but you can do void, or throw one giant hammer straight through enemies like Thor, etc, its badass
Cheers for the guide, about to jump into the gam for the 1st time. I'm guessing you meant at 15:40 - "gives you the maximum amount of stability for that MONO*"
Thanks for chillin, and no I did mean the echo, each echo has a max amount of stability you can earn, so yes killing all the enemies will give you the max amount of stability from that specific echo
ok, one thing that I was expecting to be mentioned in the staying alive part is kiting. If you're good at kiting, you can survive longer with fewer/lower resistances. And you can't really reach cap resistances at the beginning, and if you try to get to resistance cap very early on, you might feel bored because, yeah, you won't die easily but it'll take longer to kill mobs as well. Using a + point to skill isn't that important imo, you'll be better off adding an affix that adds damage to your skills I feel
Great example of a smaller channel making great content, which sadly gets lost vs the bigger channels. Good luck, i hope you get loads of new subs as LE goes live.
Great video, very informative. I went in completely blind yesterday, and have been having a lot of fun so far. Coming from PoE, I find the early game to be a bit too easy. But I really like that I don't need to look at a build to even get through the campaign (so far at least). One of my biggest complaints with PoE is that it is so difficult to just create a build as you play. Last Epoch seems to not have the same problem, which is great! But a slightly harder campaign would be appreciated as well personally. But maybe that comes a little later into the campaign. I have no idea how long it is
First off thanks for the kind words man, feels awesome that I can provide useful insight! I agree with PoE vs LE, in PoE you gotta plan everything or risk having it just fall flat, complete opposite in LE. The campaign does start off pretty easy but there is a build checker boss coming up! His name is Lagon, let me know how you fair with that boss! Thanks my guy
I just beat Lagon. That was a really sick fight. Really enjoyed it. I ended up dying once. But I have been seeing people in the global chat getting really frustrated with him 😅 And the difficulty of the game seems to have increased as I get further into the campaign, so my initial impression has been changed. The difficulty seems to be pretty well balanced now. 😁 Aside from a few annoying bugs here and there, such as the elevations changes in the environment messing with a lot of my spells, the game seems really good so far. And these kinds of bugs are to be expected from a game that isn't even fully released yet. I can't wait to see how the end game is going to feel 😁
@@LeonaDiCarryo hahaha good to hear you took him down! a lot of people do struggle with Lagon, seems like a cold resistance fight but its actually heavy on lightning and physical resistance surprisingly. farming bosses for specific uniques is where things get real fun!
One of my FAVORITE things about LE has always been that you can Build around your Favorite Skill and the build be Viable for the whole MSQ and at least the first bunch of hours of End Game. SOOO many current aRPGs end up having 2 or 3 'great' builds and the rest are just 'meh'. As long as you have an understanding of how to 'learn into' the Skills correctly, you can make that shizz WORK!
Dude you hit the nail on the head here! I was actually just talking to some friends about new D4 season, one major issue I have is I can count my fingers the amount of viable builds in that game lol, whereas LE has opportunity for every skill not just build to shine. Thanks for hanging out and watching the vid brother I appreciate it :)

Yeah Shaman is a tricky one, I think it is because it attempts to scale so many damage types in the skill trees with not enough defensive passives, compared to other classes. But I do have a friend that consistently makes some really good Shaman builds so it is possible! Thanks for watching my guy
rlly nice format quide I liked.
Fantastic run down. Clean and concise.
Much appreciated!
Amazing, clear, and succinct video. Thanks a ton!
Not gunna lie, I had to google what succinct meant lol, thanks brother appreciate ya!
Love it. Super excited to see what you make next.
Thank you man, working on some dungeon guides right now!
Great vid for an epoch noob like me thankyou can't wait for this to full release already over D4 S3 and its only day 3
Glad you got something out of the video brother, I can't wait either hahah it's gunna be so good
Beautiful guide man lots of good information
Thanks my guy appreciate it
Thx for this- what a nice kind and positiv, yet very informative, guide. Perfect amount of detail. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you
Great high quality guide!
Thanks my guy!
This is honestly overwhelming to a new player to ARPGs as a whole, but I am determined to be better at them.
Bro, perfect guide, im thinking of buying this game after this video
Nice! It's only gunna get better with 1.0 release
Excellent well paced guide. Thank you!
Thanks man!

Great guide! Liked and subscribed.
Thanks my guy
Subbed 👍 good vid well explained can’t wait to start the game, keep eyes out for your future content
Thank you man I appreciate the support :)
Great video man!
Absolutely astonishing job!
Managed to understand everything I need to make my own builds!
Can never achieve that in PoE even after 5k hours lol
So excited for Launch =)
Thanks my guy! Hell if you got 5k hours in PoE, you will absolutely shred in LE. Launch is going to be massive brother!
Really helpful video, thank you!
Good stuff! Just getting into the game and this helped a ton.
Hell yeah glad I could help man! Hope you get a sick build goin
This game has so cool Diablo 2 vibe, I saw this Hammerdin and shed a tear. Must play, but will wait for 1.0.
Amazing video man, keep it up
Thanks my guy
liked and subbed, great calm explanation of the game's fundamentals
Thanks my guy!
REALLY helpful, Thanks a lot man!
Glad you got something out of the video! Thanks my guy
Great video, very clear and informative. Thanks!
Appreciate the kind words thank you!
Man this has helped me a lot. Appreciate it. Subbed 👍
Thanks my guy, glad I could help!
Good video. Thanks for making this
Appreciate ya my guy!
ok, one thing that I was expecting to be mentioned in the staying alive part is kiting.
Good video. Thanks dude!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching man
Great example of a smaller channel making great content, which sadly gets lost vs the bigger channels. Good luck, i hope you get loads of new subs as LE goes live.
Appreciate you man, i'm just happy to make the best videos I can to help gamers get the most fun out of ARPG's!
Super helpful for someone like me who just jumped in a a day ago.
Glad I could help man! Btw there is a crazy minion build where you have an army of squirrels lol, look it up sometime it's interesting!
Great vid!
Thanks man!
I want a build that prevents the cookie from being thrown!? Nice video, thanks. -subbed
That would definitely remove the need to worry about crumbs and pieces lol, thanks man appreciate it :)
any chance that you will do a video with this build? I liked the hammer with lightning!!
For sure! Working on a few videos right now and the Smite Hammerdin build is one of em
I made my own and it works suuuper good
good to hear brother!
Here we go!
Where to!
Great vid mate 🤜
Hahaha great name, thanks man
Great intro
Nice vid. Thank you. By the way, that build looks fun. Will you make a vid with it ?
Thanks for chillin! And yes, planning on making build guides for the Earthquake Bear and the Smite Hammerdin soon
Aside from a few annoying bugs here and there, such as the elevations changes in the environment messing with a lot of my spells, the game seems really good so far.
I preffer this way knowing i will have to replay it. It dreads me knowing i will have to replay the PoE campaign.
@Manarith Can't like this enough, thanks for a very good guide.
Thanks man!
