  • Hop on board for a hot lap at Milestone MX Park as I was doing some preliminary testing on the 2019 Kawasaki KX450.

Awesome, Robby! Do you find yourself limited at all by the gearbox on the top end out in the fastest parts of your races, or do you just gear accordingly with sprockets? Or can you go with different transmission gear set ups? Looking good, man - I'm excited for the 2019 bike.

It's rare that I ever change gearing with sprockets actually. We can get into the upper 80's, even low 90's on top speed with the standard transmission and a fully CryoHeat.com treated motor. So for WORCS and grand prix racing, I run 13/51 everywhere. If we were to race NHHA, BITD or SCORE, then we'd change gearing with sprockets, but we've never messed with the tranny ratios.

Does the new motor have any more power on the top end? The reason I ask is on the older kx450s the power always felt really good on bottom and mid and then died off a little early.
