    Very nice channel. I have recently returned to flight sim after 10 years and these videos really help. Thanks.(bthw, I’m a retired shop teacher and your teaching method is fantastic!)

    Dear Russ,
    I like your video a lot and your very objective feedbacks as a real pilot. I am a PPL pilot and also interested in knobs, air manager .. in order to have a better interaction with the sim (X-Plane11).
    I am personally using a LeoBodnar Joystick card on which I connected rotary encoders (ELMA). It is detected by x-plane without any driver and no extra software are used. I am able to set up the different encoders to a specific function (barometer, OBS, heading bug...), and it makes moving the gauge displayed on Air Manager
    In this way, I can run more than only one knob, and no programmation is needed like in the Arduino
    You should have a look there too
    Thanks for your excellent video ! :)

    Hi Russ, I'm very interested as well and have built a Cessna switchbox, a dual encoder and a single encoder. I'm strugling with some things, I mailed you about it. These dials in this video, what program do you use for them? Or is it selfmade? I'd like it to test my encoders :--)

      That was all programmed using Air Manager. It was an early mock up of what became The Knobster available from Sim Innovations. I suggest you look at my video Dial Up Your Cockpit for more basic Arduino information.
      You could also look into Mobiflight for a freeware solution to hardware only. It is good for basic setups

    This is brilliant. Will you be sharing a how to? Thanks.

      wildgoobsid5 I have talked Sim Innovations into incorporating this functionality into Air Manager. I have an early beta that still has some rough edges but will post a video when it is a bit further along. The great news is that unlike my “hack” requiring instrument code modifications, the new approach will work with any Air Manager instrument as is.

      Silly question: during this hiatus period as Knobster (which is pure Genius, Russ!) shifts across to Sim Innovations, is it possible to use a DIY Arduino connected switch (i.e. a “fake Knobster”) and connect to Air Manager by making use of the Knobster feature you got them to incorprate into Air Manager? Or is the software Knobster feature locked purely to the Knobster hardware? I am learning so much from your videos, keep up the great work - and new innovations!

    Thanks for the reply. What I really need help with is my triple monitor setup. Windows 10 creator update removed the advanced display settings option so it is impossible to setup three monitors separately. X plane does not recognize three separate monitors and setting lateral rotation offset on each monitor the way you did in your video is impossible. I’m at my wits end because there doesn’t seem to be a fix. Do you have any suggestions. Please help

    Thanks for the great videos. What commands are available to set in XP11 using arduino? e.g. is it possible to set Flight With Lua or Dataref Editor values?

      @rbarlow  6 років тому

      Andrzej Art you can read and right any standard or custom datarefs in XP11 buy using Air Manager. Version 3.0 allows you to interface Arduino and Raspberry Pi Hardware with XP11, FSX, or P3D

      Actually I'm using AM3 with the Raspberry Pi for the additional panels. Can I connect a hardware knob to my RPi? How to find the documentation so I could try to write the datarefs?
