A lot of people complain about building codes, inspections, and permits (I often do), but doing demo on and old house proves that at least some of it is needed. The crazy way people just tacked stuff together back in the day is amazing (not in a good way).
You are obviously a very calm and dedicated individual- 1) Restoring a house most would have bulldozed 2) Living in said house while doing all the work 3) Raising a young family at the same time Hats off to you!
Demo work is fun. Plus, you never know what you're going to find. It's amazing to see how your house was put together... although, sometimes you can only shake your head at what you find. Awesome video as always.
In retirement, I will be moving into my in-laws place (still several years away). That house was built in the 90s and so there will not be some of the same issues as you have. Yet, I plan to change around the floor plan and so I am enjoying your videos. Thanks!
You definitely motivate me to actually get off my ass and do something constructive…then I realize I don’t have any skills. So I watch another one of your videos
You know, we may not have known you were getting ready to demo if you hadn't said "and I'm going to do it, right now". Your signature mark. Thanks for sharing.
Bought my reciprocating saw in 1999. Still going, but this is my last house to remodel. Favorite tool! Trees, framing, random metal pipes: it does it all! Thank you for highlighting this excellent tool!
I married into a Hoppe family. It's German in origin of course and my husband's family pronounce it as Hop pea(Hoppe). I too get the urge to start one of the many projects we have on our plate at my house. Replumbing the recalled polybutylene water pipes is my number one concern.
Only built in 1946, I thought it was at least a hundred years old, it's basically a new build, half my tools are older than your house, lol. The masking tape reminds me of the "structural" black electric tape and shrink wrap waterproof membrane found on renovation jobs. The crap people use for saving money, lack of knowledge and or scamming the client. Would you use any plywood sheet under the drywall to stiffen the basement stair ceiling boxing. A lot of European houses use plywood sheathing structurally to create a very strong rigid box. Looking forward to the next stage of work.
You Da Man! Love these videos you do. Your Home is like a ‘DIYers dream!‘ will be interfering to see how you end up with the dual closet space. BTW, I have been using Hoppe’s for years, and it’s pronounced, Hop -Peees. Great product! Great video and great channel. Stay safe and Healthy! 👍👍👍✌🏻😁🔨
Old houses can certainly be interesting. Ours still has bits of old unused pipes and (knob and tube) wire here and there, remnants that were never fully removed when the house was upgraded. And the hall to the back of the house still has bits of hardware from a long-gone double door. And the stairs to the basement that were added, and then later blocked. And...
Great job as always! When everything is finally done in the entire house, I would love to see a video with the before and after photos of all the incredible work you've done. That would be epic! 👌👍😊
What you do is fantastic, it inspired me to get a general carpentry apprenticeship sooner! I've grown up around family building and fixing things and these videos brings me comfort. Thank you for the great content you put out, much love from canada :)
I would have thought that the change in drywall might be where there was previously more headroom for basement access and someone has reduced this and created more cupboard space. The whole framing looks very Heath Robinson!!
really nice into lol, ending's good too since it leads into the next. i actually just finally had time to binge watch the whole bathroom remodel vid, definitely adds to my interest in how next episode will turn out (also woo to more history)
Coming along nicely! When you said "that's my thing" all I could think of was "give this a nice loving bonk... that's my thing" lol And also when you said that that was more work than you expected... that's pretty much what happens when i work on cars haha I'm trying to catch up on the episodes I missed so you may see some more comments today lol
Progress never felt so good... Btw your basement stairs look like a death trap lol.. are they level to the floor when u walk in/down also are they wide enough to walk into? And dude I really can't get enough of u fixing up this house.. I rly hope ur channel blows up so u can keep doing more work in this house!! Keep it going brother! 💪
Hello again I am here catching up on all your new videos cause I was on a little vacation did I tell you how clean and neat you are when doing demolition glad to see you wearing gloves, eye protection and face mask👍😁 can't wait for your next video 💙
Is that welcome mat glued to the floor? You are consistent in your work. It's soothing. You do what you do very well. Also, I'm wondering if your one year pld already has a tool belt.
Such talent. I would love to know the things you do. I have a vision but I’m lost as to how to do it myself. And tools are expensive too.😕 Love your videos!
que lindo es poder hacer ese tipo de remodelaciones... aca solo tenemos casas de ladrillo, cemento y hormigon... osea una pared no se quita.. porque sino se cae la casa jajajaja
Why don’t you have a barrel in the area, and throw debris in it instead of on the floor? It makes cleanup easier, and reduces the odds of stepping on a nail.

Ended up on this video because of all the wood I found stacked together like Tetris while taking a closet door frame out.
Every time I watch your videos, I feel like I should be doing something to my house, like anything! Thanks for sharing as always...
Yes! Do it to it! Thanks for watching!
Exactly 😂😂😂
Same but instead I'm watching him do it.
You are obviously a very calm and dedicated individual-
1) Restoring a house most would have bulldozed

Hats off to you!
Yay for a new video! Sad it was too short!! I’ll be looking forward to the next video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Love the tease at the very end! "Let's attack this and see what happens." Perfect! Can't wait until the next episode.
ALWAYS enjoy your videos
and GRATEFUL you are taking care of your AWESOME SELF (👀)
Thoroughly enjoyed, man! Old houses make my head spin. 🤪

Safety glasses look good on you.. especially when your working 😅
Sometimes it’s pretty cool what u find in old houses
Yeah I have found a couple things that I still have. They are little pieces of history. 😁 thanks for watching!
Love your videos! It’s like when I was little and watched my dad do projects around the house. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching! Happy you are enjoying the videos!
I really enjoy watching your videos! I like the process of taking out the old and putting in something new and better

When he's done with the flip, the Fixer should do a house in review kind of thing. It'd be nice to see the complete project.... Thumbs up!

Very informative series. Cool stuff

Must feel good every time you get that wood paneling out of a room.
It’s cringe. LOL!
Really love your videos and your way to work through project. Thanks for sharing.
Really nice job.
Thanks for all those explanations !
These videos are so lovely to watch! You've done a great job with your home and your videos! I love how relaxing the videos are.

“Safety glasses…hopefully that makes you happy!” 😂

@@TheFixerHomeRepair yep, I laughed so loud I actually scared my dog! 🤭
Great videos for this project, looking forward to the next one.
Your videos make me feel like I can fix anything lol 😂
We're going to click the like button, and we're gonna do it.......right now!
That's so weird, normally one year olds never go around getting into things. 😆
Wow how many layers is there. Thought you were never going to get to the end.

Such talent. I would love to know the things you do. I have a vision but I’m lost as to how to do it myself. And tools are expensive too.😕 Love your videos!
Man that house is going to turn into a palace someday.
It's always more than we think. Having to clean up somebody else's meal mass is always time consuming. That year the star you can do it all..... Hugs
Yeah it is always interesting. That is for sure!
Excellent job
I love louver doors. They are somewhat expensive theses days
My little guy Brayden laughed so hard when you busted the wall open and said “right now”…
i love your videos so much! so excited for the updates! :D
Very cool, looks like good progress!
😁. Thanks for watching, Jared!
The Fixer 👍

Thank YOU for watching!
Love your channel!
Good job!
Great video ,thanks
Good work
Should it be that easy to pull the drywall down??
Excited to see the next steps! Are you going to make more a of a square area for head clearance than the angle in there now?
very nice, I can't wait to see it all done, it's gonna be awesome :B
Thanks for watching, Tiny!
Hahaha best ‘right now’ ever
I am thinking about how this house passed inspection every time they fixed or added to the closet.
Yeah I don’t think much was inspected honestly.
12:14 __ Some of that Hoppe No. 9 Nitro Powder Solvent might have sped up this demolition project! ;o))
you have any on closets that have that extra step or floor? mt room closet is a step above the room.
que lindo es poder hacer ese tipo de remodelaciones... aca solo tenemos casas de ladrillo, cemento y hormigon... osea una pared no se quita.. porque sino se cae la casa jajajaja
Me: I can’t wait to have my own house so I can remodel it to my liking!
Also me: He’s gonna find a body somewhere…. 👀👀👀
Yes to safety glasses haha
Are you using your phone for filming, or do you have something like a GoPro camera?
I'm going to hit the like button on this video. And I'm gonna do it.... Right nowwww.
I see sinking in my ceiling too.. any advice on hiring a contractor to jack it up?
LOL at the texts.
I hope you find the treasure chest during such actions 😘😂👍
I love your videos they are awesome, but I have one thing to tell you “Go Rays”. LMAO!!!!!!
Haha
that was fun

You should keep that gun cleaning box
Going to! I have a small collection of little things like that that I have found in the house!
@@TheFixerHomeRepair that's cool to hear. Can't wait to see what you do with them.
That's my thing 😂
Is that a super Mario? Oh mamma mia
It sure is haha
