Weapon upgrades are your best bet!
Keep in mind, that chickens can be sold for the same price as they are bought!
The chicken I've placed after Wave 2, gave me +5 food, and after selling it, it gave me just enough
to purchase my last weapon upgrade early.
Make sure to also have a few Fire- and Tar-Guys ready, to slow down the Mammoth, and other enemies, if needed!

@@EviePatamon I struggled hard to beat this level without taking damage, but once I tried upgrading my own weapon, it became much easier.
