I am a wounded Vietnam vet. Dec. 16 1966 near Chu lai Vietnam. Two of my best friends died that terrible day. I healed up and got thru another 60 years. I always think of them and sometimes at night when I can't sleep, which is quite often, I find myself reliving that day and others over there. And I cry sometimes. AS a REAL combat wounded veteran, I can say I don't care about their politics. This is a lovely song and breaks my heart. Treat our current and past veterans with respect. When myself and my Marine buddies were over there trying to stay alive, most of my high school buddies joined the Nat. Guard or got college deferments and never went. You owe us at least respect. And even though they didn't write it, how long has it been since there has been a song with this much meaning? I don't agree with their views, but seriously, I'm over it.
