That Nathan Gerbe goal against Philly at 0:47 was the goal that tied the game in the 3rd period to send the game to OT, and that point clinched the playoffs for Buffalo in 2011. They have not made the playoffs since lol

Tough list, if for no other reason then most players have been listed as varying numbers for their height. Nathan Gerbe, for example, was often listed at 5'5, not 5'4. Lidstrom would be listed as 6'2 in some places, though he's normally listed at 6'1. Sundin was listed as small as 6'2 during his career, and was normally listed at 6'4.
@@robpoole2417 Bobby Orr changed the position of defenseman, dominated everyone he played against, and won 3 league scoring titles as a d-man, never mind all the other awards. As an aside, he was also responsible for players getting what they should have been paid, and not treated like chattel. He's also considered by more hockey-savvy people than me to be one of the top three players of all time.
Jonny B guud. True. But other than Howe, what three players from Montreal, Detroit, have the caliber of Lemieux and Crosby, Jagr arguably both in the top 10 all time. Lemieux and Crosby top five. I would put Howe 4th. Oilers have Gretzky of coarse at no 1A, but McDavids body of work doesn’t put him in the top 10 as of now. Not even close.
@@darkhours8729 I have no idea what you're talking about. Firstly, I was agreeing so I don't know why you're arguing. I was simply giving my opinion as to why Lidstrom was chosen. Secondly, did you just say McDavid is making $23m a season?? lol
eli muller Hell yes he is. Ovechkin is a goal scoring machine that we’ll probably never see again. But jagr is and always will be the greatest european to ever lace them up. 1900 points don’t lie.
Ovechkin is/was a more impressive talent, but Jagr accumulated a more impressive career resumé, albeit mainly by playing for a thousand years. If Ovechkin breaks or makes a very good run at the goals record then we'll recognize his career in total as one of the very elite and he'll have a solid spot on the short list of the greatest players ever to play in the history of the league. Until then I don't have a big issue with them putting Jagr here.
If Lemieux played the same amount of games as Gretzky he would have had 2800 compared to Gretzkys 2857 and 1121 goals compared to Gretzkys 894 so imo I think Lemieux was the better player. And look at the highlights Lemieuxs were a lot better
If you don't have Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe, Martin Brodeur and Terry Sawchuk somewhere on this list, even if they are tied at the same height, it is hard to take this list seriously.
AM34 i can name plenty of players who aren’t half as good as crosby who have more rings and appearances than that.... your logic is flawed. Again, crosby is top ten... which is pretty damn good considering the company he keeps.
This was actually a really cool list, not just a regular top 10 but something different. Great job Sportsnet!
Optic Agar lol it’s funny you say that! I’m actually already subscribed to him! He makes amazing videos! Thanks!
6'9 and he is a ballerina has to be one of the best calls in the history
Nice

It’s a very very small pool of players to be better than.

Bobby Orr should have been put on the list
nah crosbys better
Would have been if Gretzky's actual height of 5' 11" used.
David Rahilly even then Gordie Howe is 6 foot tall.
@@43labontepetty Orr has the records and separated himself from the pack far more than Howe.
With all due respect to Sid, I'd have taken Bobby Orr as the best 5'11" player ever.
Granger Jung sids got like 250 more points and still playing
Rob Poole orr was a defenseman

Shawn Watson we have...
I mean also look at oilers
You might have to add Montreal and Detroit to the list also

Theoren Fleury should be in the Hall of Fame. Best at 5'-6" for sure but played bigger than that on the ice.
I want to read his book

I'm glad Sportsnet thought of this idea before an NHL gaming channel.
I’ve met Marty St.Louis more times then I can count. Saying he’s 5’8” is generous, more like 5’6”
5'8 with skates maybe
I laughed when they actually put him for the best 5'8, was expecting him at the best 5'6
Clicked for Mush Marsh, was not disappointed.
You guys really pretending St.Louis was 5'8...? He is closer to 5'6 or 5'5

The only way Mr. Hockey isn't on this list is if he's 6'0"

I guess jagr is better

Gretzky is 5' 11", Dionne 5'' 8" and Messier is 6' 1". Get these right ad Orr is on the list at 6'
He literally made everybody at least 1 inch taller than what they actually are.
