Minecraft has splashes now?

- Minecraft has splashes now? In the recent Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Part II trailer, Alex falls into the new lush caves biome in the water with axolotls. When doing so, she causes a splash and ripples to appear in the water. Since that effect isn't actually in Minecraft, I decided to code it in myself and make a mod for it.

I genuinely like this a lot. It's a small touch, but it adds that extra bit of impact to water that was always missing. Now, if only we had functioning waterfalls...
Boy do I have need for you
@@Borrger | Huh?
@@Machiko_Live | I doubt they'll ever change the physics of "land in water = no fall damage".
@@Machiko_Live | Oh you meant the splash physics. Well, I'd assume flowing water would have the full splash effects disabled, due to it being at an angle.
...we do. We've had functioning waterfalls since water was added
i think this actually should be added to minecraft. It makes it kind of more realistic without taking the minecraft feel out of it.
looks like it would lag a ton of low-end devices though. guess we could have an option to turn it off
@@ron0studios its like 12 quads, its the equivalent of rendering 2 blocks

This actually looks amazing, imagine if we had a whole mod suite that made the game feel like the trailers (including the flat textures and 3d elements) and used custom animations for all the mobs to make them feel more fluid!

I love the idea of adding this in, I think it would be a good idea to make it an optional feature. Now this may sound weird, but if someone decides to make a huge redstone build that uses water. It would be a disaster for high power farms. But I'm not saying this would be a bad feature, quite the opposite this would be amazing! (Even if it may be a small detail)
makes sense since most particle effects can be turned of and this could be lumped in with them
A good enhancement would be the change of color of the splash, depending on the color of the (biome) water.
And now, we need the water update. oh yes

Client-side means it only shows on the client, you, and therefor can be used on any server, however if a mod is not client-side, but requires to be on server side, it would require the server to install the mod, making it next to impossible to use it on servers that does not have it installed.

Minecraft logic: you land in water and you’ll be completely fine no matter how high you fell.

actually, given the positioning of steve during falls, him being fine after landing in somewhat deeper water makes sense, as the impact wouldnt hit as hard as he would slip under.

yes
yes like the blue part could be transparent but the white part (foam) could remain opaque. that would blend in so well with the game but it would also look cool
Ehh, water in real life doesn't really look transparent when it splashes cuz of the foam. I think it actually looks best opaque
@@datitingammez Yup, that's how I imagined it as well, the bluer the more transparent.
I think it's maybe not so unlikely that this ends up in the actual game eventually :)
I love this! The little details make games like this just that little bit extra nice. I have some other ideas for some particle effects that could be included with the splashes.
1. Sparks when metal weapons hit metal armor. Maybe different colors depending on what materials are involved.
2. Lava splashes. These wouldn't have to be as big as water splashes since lava flows slower in the overworld, but given how minecraft treats lava, having it splash when items or entities fall in would make sense.
That's a genuinely well done animation for the splash. It works because it is animated simply and effectively.
I love this, kinda feels like something that should already be in vanilla minecraft.
Agreed, it makes the game aesthetically better without contradicting the creative direction of minecraft.

Speaking of, I really want a "modding update" where they finally implement an official modding API. That would be really nice.
I swear modders are better at making minecraft features than Monjang. I like the 1.18 update but modders pop out copies of an update like hours after the features are announced not months
That the thing, they just make copies of only what they can see initially. Which usually lack a lot of finer changes and tweaks aswell as many bug fixes and changes that are applied to existing aspects of the game.
The statue looks impressive from afar, but up close it lacks detail and fine work.
@@marshalllee6376 Lack of managerial overlook. A single person can do a lot without asking. an employee cannot just do what they want
It took Mojang, a Company that has hundreds of staff, almost whole year to add one half of an update(The nether update was release on June 23 the First part of the Caves and Cliffs update was released on June 6th). Mojang doesn't really put much work into Minecraft, unlike Modders.
@@turtlegaming5537 the first half of the caves and cliffs wasn’t the only thing they worked on at the start of the year tho.
